I know there's other threads on this and I don't know why this 'got' me so much.

I am just so tired of it.

I sit in meetings listening to nice, reasonable men saying things like 'of course we oppose violence against girls and women'. With their pronouns in their email signatures, of course.

I was listening to the radio this morning about the string of errors that led to Couzens being free to do what he did to Sarah Everard.

Then this, with Ed patiently explaining it all to Mary.

Don't they ever listen to themselves? Don't they ever think, hang on, an actual woman is telling me there's a problem here, maybe I should listen?

It makes me feel like crying, sometimes.

@maranella - where is that image from? I've never seen it before.

OP, you have mis titled Sir Edward Jonathon Davey
Show some respect , ffs.

GCAcademic · 24/05/2023 11:46

Spot on. These twats are in all our workplaces.

Hepwo · 24/05/2023 11:53

Yes definitely and he's also contradicting the Lib Dem Belcher who thinks imbibing copious amounts of cross sex hormones makes a man's biological sex female and even without that, a man's apparently female psychology also means his biological sex is female.

Ed said biological sex and gender are different in trans people with a penis. They should have a chat with each other as their incoherent explanations are contradictory. They can mansplain to each other. And manlisten.

I saw the quote on Twitter yesterday. I follow a lot of GC people, so I can't remember exactly who posted it. The one above is one I found doing a Google search.

My theory….

Middle aged men grew up with a level of playground homophobia. Calling other boys sissy etc. They now acknowledge it was wrong and lack confidence in their own moral compass. So they take the lead from gay men. Fine if the gay man is a normal average bloke who knows and appreciates women. Not fine if the gay man is the Stonewall influenced EDI lead, or awoke LbDem activist.

I think you have a point.

My observation from friends and acquaintances is that the more fervent believers in trans ideology are compensating for something. Repressed backgrounds, growing in suburbia or very non-diverse towns. It's as if they've found a very easy way to become suddenly very relevant. My friends with more colourful adolescences or diverse backgrounds are far more sceptical about everything, trans ideology included.

The other thing - especially pertinent for the teenagers currently attracted to trans ideology - is that if you're a relatively privileged middle class white person, there is less recognition by society at large of the traumas you face. And privileged young people are just as traumatised by situations such as neglect, parental divorce, abuse etc. But society isn't interested unless they can tick a "diversity" box.

nilsmousehammer · 24/05/2023 14:07

Nail on the head, OP.

It makes me less feel like crying though than shouting 'will you get a fucking grip'.

JoodyBlue · 24/05/2023 18:04

Failing to listen to women's concerns is one thing. Failing to comprehend the harms of genderism to young people and to listen to destransitioners. Failure to understand that our generations of young people are growing up under an implicit understanding that there are no go areas when talking about safeguarding and that lies about sex are acceptable is unforgiveable. His smug and uncomprehending answers yesterday on various media show him to be completely vacuous. My local Lib Dem candidate told me with a straight face that when babies are born the midwives and doctors have to "make a decision as to the gender of each baby born".

Backstreets · 24/05/2023 18:11

I’d love it if one of these lovely male trans allies would go to bat for their transmen brothers more often. Promote that dude to COO. Invite him to go fishing. Piss in deep manly contemplation next to him at the urinal. Make him the face of diversity at your company.

but most of the time the male allies seem more interested in the rights of transwomen, at the expense of women.

I wonder why?

Forwarder · 24/05/2023 20:40

Quite clearly Sirs Ed and Kier have done a deal. As quite clearly they are much cleverer than shrill women who don't realise that they ought to have penises. Quite clearly women with penises are much specialer than those without.

A few years ago I would have supported a centre left coalition as a smart move. Now I just don't know. But I do wish GC women would get into Labour and Libdems and push back against these sanctimonious prats.

FKATondelayo · 24/05/2023 20:46

As Cheryl Gillan lay dying of cancer, Ed Davey had already started campaigning in her constituency. He can get in the bin.

And yes, completely agree with you OP.

FFS.
As an ex midwife. As a mother of daughters, whose sex I did not know until they were born as I prefer surprises, I would go nuts if someone said this to me. How can they be so idiotic! AngryAngryAngry

nilsmousehammer · 24/05/2023 21:56

You have to wonder if any of these idiots know about the realities of the Easter Bunny or the Tooth Fairy since they seem incapable of research, critical thinking or basic common sense, and just blurt out what they've been told.

Florissante · 24/05/2023 22:08

I am so tired of men deciding what women are.

I sometimes think that they don’t want them to be men. They’d be much happier if they can completely disown transwomen and have the men category without such anomalies.

CLEARLY the tooth fairy is real, nils. Otherwise where are all the fucking teeth going?! Eh?

SheldontheWonderSchlong · 25/05/2023 11:15

I asked my dad and 2 brothers (both married to women) that if the vote was taken away from women would they attend a protest march.....they all said 'probably not'.
I guess at least they were truthful. It's the men that would lie and say 'of course' while secretly being pleased that are the most dangerous I suppose.

Men, eh? I shouldn't be surprised, and yet even now, I retain the capacity to be shocked.

Isn't Ed Davey an 'Orange book liberal ' ? As far as I can make out that's a Tory with a relaxed attitude to social policy.
Which they seem to have outsourced to Stonewall et al. But still a Tory eg he can't see anything wrong with Austerity which his Coalition enforced.

I think he is. Most LibDems seem to be. So they are regressive neo-liberals supporting Tory (and EU btw) economic policies which impact particularly on the working classes and women, with a 'progressive' social policy e.g. TWAW etc,

Oh gosh, this brings me back to the dilemma I faced over telling offspring that Santa didn't exist, and that we parents provided the presents under the tree. When offspring was young, he declared that God must exist as otherwise where did Santa, the tooth fairy and the easter bunny get their powers. Who wants to kill God, the Tooth Fairy, the Easter Bunny and Santa all in one go.

We waited until an absurd age to tell him that Santa wasn't real.

Cailleach1 · 25/05/2023 12:16

Mind you, people like the leader of the Lib Dems (among others) are lying to telling adults and children that women have penises. And they would have this lie imposed in law; allowing opportunism and unethical practices wrt medical interventions and places where women and children are vulnerable to abuse. Also they seem to be ok with opportunities for women being torpedoed in general life - eg sports and organising as a class.

😂This made me laugh.

I actually do feel a bit bad about the whole Santa schtick. I mean they love it but they’re really convinced it’s real atm

I don’t know much about Lib Dems, only that they stood out on remain front but this gender stuff is woeful and negates it all

Too true. I remember the night my DD was born. The midwife called out the time and the sex (which I knew because someone helpful had put a pink blanket on the radiator - I had been careful not to find out!). It was instant. FFS, where do they get these ideas?

I remember them standing out on the Remain front. It was not ethical. They said they would ignore a democratic vote if it went the wrong way - they were proposing a second referendum at the time, saying if it was still to leave the EU they would ignore the result. Not democratic. They can all get stuffed as far as I am concerned - the trans thing follows from their other anti real people agenda.
