Feminism: Sex and gender discussions
RoseslnTheHospital · 18/05/2023 14:24

I wish all the media outlets including the BBC would use the Police Scotland image of this man, rather than the filtered Facebook image that is being used of an apparently glamorous woman.

To be fair to the article's author, they are quoting the perpetrator's attempted defence when using the term "motherly" to the police on arrest. At least this person later chose to plead guilty and spare the victim the ordeal of a trial rather than try to persist with that ridiculous attempt at a defence.

Chrysanthemum5 · 18/05/2023 14:28

It makes me so sad that the child got into the car because she thought it was a 'lady', and children expect that to be safe.

I'm also annoyed by the use of 'he' - is this because the rapist doesn't mind using 'he' so it's ok? if he wanted to be called 'she' would we all have to do that? When did a rapists preference become more important than reality

DobbysTeaCosy · 18/05/2023 15:05

Let's not forget that the only reason this girl is alive is because they managed the rescue her before the week was up. He would certainly have killed her to avoid detection and punishment. Absolutely chilling.

JosieOhNo · 18/05/2023 15:30

So chilling to read.

But also, what a clever, brave young girl that was!
You see so many threads on here about 'is it safe for my x yr old to walk/get the bus on their own'. In so many of these threads, there's always a strong chorus of yes, they need to become independent etc. It's such a hard call to make, and hearing stories like this makes you want to wrap kids up in cotton wool.

Hoardasurass · 18/05/2023 15:35

He's in a male prison now but no guarantee he will do his time in one ffs

GlomOfNit · 18/05/2023 16:20

That poor girl. Her life has been utterly blighted by this. Young enough not to realise he wasn't a woman, old enough never to forget the ordeal. Bloody hell, I hope they really do keep him in for life.

IcakethereforeIam · 18/05/2023 16:22

Twenty seven hours!

HotPenguin · 18/05/2023 16:26

This story demonstrates the danger of playing along with the trans ideology - this sick person played on female stereotypes to commit their crimes, first lowering the defences of the girl by pretending to be a woman, then trying (unsuccessfully) to deflect the police by claiming they were following a motherly instinct.

ArabeIIaScott · 18/05/2023 16:32

I'm in awe of the bravery and strength of that girl. I wish her all the help and space and time and support that she needs, and I hope she can take solace from the knowledge she saved herself.

NeedToThinkOfOne · 18/05/2023 16:36

She said she had accepted the offer and got into the Jaguar car because she was cold and believed the "lady" to be non-threatening.’

This sent a shiver down my spine. It’s a distressing read.

Datun · 18/05/2023 16:45

The court was told that the girl's "fear and distress was palpable" in the call and her relief at hearing the police arrive at the house was obvious.
Officers found Miller still sleeping and wearing a bra, silicone breasts, female pants and tights.

I hope it's finally beginning to dawn on people exactly how many of these men are fetishists.

Igmum · 18/05/2023 16:48

That poor child. So much for it never happens eh?

MrsJamin · 18/05/2023 17:00

FYI this is the third current thread about this issue

medianewbie · 18/05/2023 17:11

I live locally to this. I'm aware its an ongoing case, so I won't say any more. It's a small rural community. Children are thought to be 'safer here' but sadly its no different to anywhere else. I was glad to hear Humza Yusaf describe Miller as the man-person that he is. I hope that the victim & her family get a lot of support & that Andrew Miller is imprisoned for life in the male estate.

Good the more light this gets the better.

crabbyoldappletree · 18/05/2023 18:00

Sorry realised that does read well. I hope the poor girl gets all the help she can, her life will have been massively changed, by this vial man. But it shines a light on how utterly deranged it is to let men into women's spaces.
I feel so so sorry for the poor lass, she must have been so scared. I bloody well hope he's put away for a very long time but he won't be because women and girls don't count.

stealthsquirrelnutkin · 18/05/2023 20:23

That drawing is ridiculous. This is what he really looks like.

'Motherly' rapist?

Yes. I think this illustrates that very clearly, doesn’t it.

Fetishists who get off on involving unwilling participants in their fetish, even when they don’t go to the extremes of actual sexual abuse as this monstrous man did.

What a horrific, horrific ordeal that little girl went through, and yes, how very brave she was the way she got away from him. She must have been so scared that he would wake up while she was calling, and hurt her even more, or restrain her so that she couldn’t get help. She must have wondered if she was ever getting out of there.

If I can send love across the ether to her, I’m sending it now.

ScrollingLeaves · 18/05/2023 22:12

The girl later told police she had been unable to get a bus home and so started to walk when she was approached "by a lady in a car" who offered to give her a lift.

It is important to make clear to children that people who seem to be women may not be.

That the assault was carried out while he was wearing silicone breasts is beyond horror.

That little girl has been astoundingly brave.

This man legally has the protected characteristic of Gender Reassignment doesn’t he?

ScrollingLeaves · 18/05/2023 22:28

Somehow these remarks seem upsetting to me. What if her fear and distress had not been palpable, or her relief not evident? She might have been frozen and dissociated.

Was it necessary for her to be this way before they’d be clear that this was not consensual? Or is this over thinking on my part?

RoaringtoLangClegintheDark · 18/05/2023 22:31

stealthsquirrelnutkin · 18/05/2023 20:23

That drawing is ridiculous. This is what he really looks like.

Tbf this photo is on the BBC feature too.

And for once they’ve got some justification for using the womanface photo, I suppose, to show how his appearance could have deceived the girl into thinking he was a woman.

The BBC is complicit with this crime though, as is every organisation and body that has championed the act of men passing themselves off as women as not just acceptable but an actively positive thing, to be celebrated.

We live in a world where men as a class pose a risk to women as a class, and to children. That’s the sad fact of it. Not all men are predators, but nearly all predators are men.

Enabling men to claim they’re women, to make themselves look as much like women as possible, and to require that others see them as women, is blatantly obviously a safeguarding nightmare waiting to happen.

This little girl thought she could trust the person offering her a lift because she thought that person was a woman.

This man felt emboldened to pass himself off as a woman on a regular basis, including on this occasion, because society has deemed that giving men this right is more important than safeguarding women and children.

Society has totally ignored the power imbalance between the sexes, and the vastly, vastly differing rates of sexual offending, even while being supposedly hyper-aware of these facts in other contexts.

Society has said there’s no problem with encouraging some men to make themselves out to be women, none at all. And that only bigots wouldn’t accept these men as who they say they are. Right, Amnesty et al?

And this is the result. A man who knows he can get away with calling himself a woman’s name, wearing prosthetic breasts, women’s clothes, everything he can do to most closely approximate the physical appearance of a woman, and nobody will question it. Nobody will hold him in check. Indeed, anyone who tries to will be accused of transphobic bigotry.

He will be lauded as part of a vulnerable, marginalised minority; politicians will court him and fawn over him, and pass laws saying that if he wants to, he can acquire legal recognition as a woman.

Even if he rapes someone.

Even if he kidnaps a little girl and holds her captive for 27 hours and abuses her repeatedly throughout that time.

His right to his “identity” is still the most important thing in the picture. Because what matters in this world are men’s feelings.

So this is where we are. How many more men like this will it take to wake enough people from their delusional coma that men being able to freely pass themselves off as women without challenge, without question, without suspicion might not be the best idea in the world?

Their delusion that the thing we have to prioritise above all else is indulging mens feelings about themselves - not just the men who identify as women, but also the men who support them and are determined to see themselves as the good guys, however much harm what they’re supporting causes.

I wonder.

endofthelinefinally · 18/05/2023 22:36

There is a small amount of progress in that the BBC/MSM has actually reported the correct sex of the offender and explained that he was pretending to be a woman.
That poor, poor child.

endofthelinefinally · 18/05/2023 22:40

"It is important to make clear to children that people who seem to be women may not be".

And yet, children in school are taught that a man in a dress and a wig IS a woman and it is wrong to question their instincts.

I think though they’ve only reported him as a man and used correct sex pronouns because he said that’s how he wanted it.

I fear that if he’d said he wanted to be she/her we’d have seen yet another of those “woman commits the kind of crime that usually only men do” headlines.

The cynic in me presumes that he’s gone for this to avoid another Graham/Bryson scenario, and/or to avoid bringing his “community” into further disrepute, and alerting more people to the fact that male trans-identifying people commit these crimes at the same rate as other male people.

Obviously what would be real progress would be all male sex offenders (and other violent criminals) referred to as being the sex they actually are.

Indeed.

By the very same people whose job it is to keep them safe otherwise, and teach them age-appropriate awareness of risks.

Safeguarding is supposed to be more important than anything else at all.

Until it isn’t.
