Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

This man legally has the protected characteristic of Gender Reassignment doesn’t he?

Yes; he can't be discriminated against or treated any differently than another male on the basis of his gender reassignment.

RoaringtoLangClegintheDark · 18/05/2023 23:19

I’m now thinking I wasn’t nearly cynical enough, and this is the real reason he’s gone for being called “he”:

My children are young adults now but when they were little I told them that if they were lost in a shop or a mall or wherever (it never happened), they should approach a woman - ideally a mother. Not someone they thought was a security guard and not a man. It wasn't even the male threat - it was that research showed that women seeing a lost child or a threatened child, held hold of the child until it was safe. Men didn't have the same follow through. I once found a lost and hysterical toddler in a mall. I stayed with that toddler until they had verified that the people rushing up were his parents.

No idea what I would tell them to do now.

Clymene · 18/05/2023 23:35

He is manipulating the judicial process. Why dies he get to decide which pronouns to use? He's a man who abducted a child and then assaulted her .

Where are her rights?

In the 90s, just after the Jamie Bolger murder, I saw a child 2.or 3 wandering unaccompanied in a small shopping precinct. Even as a woman I felt anxious about what to do due to the fear of being accused of child abduction, so I went into the nearest shop and asked if I could bring him straight there. Luckily his parent came looking for him just at that moment, in a big panic.

FYI this is the third current thread about this issue

Yep, sorry. I didn't see any others when I started it and it was new on the news, so thought it needed sharing.

This is absolutely chilling. A deliberate choice to escape identification.

And these guys can then insist on access to women and girls in changing rooms and toilet areas.

Another thing - we can expect a change in the statistics on violent and sexual crimes if more 'women' like him are included as female. And no matter what campaigners claim, there is a far higher proportion of men with gender dysphoria committing offences against women and children than men without the condition.

As he has Gender Reassignment as a woman, he’d also be allowed on a female ward under Annexe B, I believe.

IcakethereforeIam · 19/05/2023 11:28

I wonder if the prison service will pay for his transition? Will he get a stipend for makeup and gender affirmation clothes.

Look forward to hearing the judge's comments when he's sentenced. Unless I've missed them?

Sentencing in August

"It is important to make clear to children that people who seem to be women may not be".

And yet, children in school are taught that a man in a dress and a wig IS a woman and it is wrong to question their instincts.

This.

they are told it is bigoted and unkind to state reality. Even when, or maybe especially when, that reality poses a danger to them.

It's conditioning of children, leading to them being put in danger.

Boiledbeetle · 19/05/2023 12:50

If he ends up in a women's prison there will be universal uproar at this point.

Datun · 19/05/2023 16:45

They're just going to keep coming, those men.

Yes. Some NHS Trusts in the sainted NHS would place him, Bryson and all sex offenders on women's wards in a heartbeat - they have special policies to ensure this.

I'm in awe of the bravery and strength of that girl. I wish her all the help and space and time and support that she needs, and I hope she can take solace from the knowledge she saved herself.

I so agree! She acted with great presence of mind in a horrible situation, and truly saved herself. Not many adults could have been as clear-headed, careful and brave as she was.

I fervently hope that this helps her in surviving what happened.

Scoldsidol · 19/05/2023 18:39

I know as a parent that I’ve told my kids never to accept lifts from strangers - of either sex. But we all know that in certain circumstances we make decisions in the moment. This girl had missed her bus and it was raining. She must have thought the lady was being kind and whereas she might have refused the lift if she had seen it was a man driving, or not, it doesn’t matter. The point was that this predatory excuse of a man knew full well that this girl was far more likely to get into his car with him presenting as a woman. He knew this.

If he had been driving round dressed up as a woman as a ‘one-off’ and committed this crime that would have been him ‘pretending to be a woman’. But he was known to be a transgender woman of long-standing in his community so this is a crime being committed by a transwoman. No quibble there at all.

I’m wondering whether his facial injuries are anything to do with him dropping the female name and pronouns… has he been remanded since his arrest?

Boiledbeetle · 19/05/2023 18:46

"I’m wondering whether his facial injuries are anything to do with him dropping the female name and pronouns… has he been remanded since his arrest?"

I suspect he accidentally fell over/into a few things whilst being arrested.

endofthelinefinally · 19/05/2023 18:54

How many of us have told our children to look for a lady if they are lost? I told mine to approach a lady with a pram or pushchair if there was no lady shop assistant or a security guard/police officer.
All these things have to be re-evaluated.

Yes. She sounds like a truly remarkable girl. I wish her all the very best things going forward.

And I hope our useless fucking fuckwitted politicians have the courage to look at themselves in the mirror and ask why the fuck they are prioritising the feelings of the transwoman over the feelings of this girl. I'm looking right at you, Shona Robison. A fucking hard stare. You should resign, you unspeakable coward.

PonyPatter44 · 19/05/2023 19:24

Motherly my bum. I hope that little girl is not badly hurt or traumatised, and that she has loving family and friends around her to help her heal. She is brave and clever to have called 999 when she had the chance.

Incidentally, I just took a photo of myself using the Facebook "sketch" filter.... I look bloody beautiful, which proves just how deluded that man was, if he thought he really looked like that. Scum.

If he ends up in a women's prison there will be universal uproar at this point.

Unfortunately when he is moved to a women's prison, it will be very quietly and under his new name, and it will go undetected, which I suspect is the plan. I'd be interested in how much he has been encouraged to this and who by and with what incentives, because this is an approach very useful to the Scots govt and the TQ political lobby. Sadly time spent with both those groups renders most people fantastically cynical because of basic pattern recognition and experience.

And yes to the point made early on page 1 - had this poor child not been able to make that call, it is very unlikely indeed he would have left her alive.

ScrollingLeaves · 20/05/2023 10:11

‘Motherly’ chemically assisted breast feeding by transwomen is another trend.

I think the specific question has already been asked of some NHS trusts, if a known male sex offender who “identified as a woman” would be accommodated on a women’s ward, and one answer was something like yes of course, you transphobic bigots, how dare you imply there’s anything wrong with that.

I may be paraphrasing.

endofthelinefinally · 18/05/2023 22:36

There is a small amount of progress in that the BBC/MSM has actually reported the correct sex of the offender and explained that he was pretending to be a woman.
That poor, poor child.

Sadly not as much as you'd hope, they're only using male pronouns because that's the preference of the offender. If he'd asked for female pronouns to be used that's what the BBC would be using, it's a fucking joke!
