Trans rights: what is it that they want?

Serious question arising from a conversation regarding Victor Madrigal and the UN guidelines.

What are people who shout Trans Rights are Human Rights actually talking about?

I have a Zoom meeting in 4 minutes, otherwise I'd venture more.

Since women have been assaulted and thrown out of pubs for potentially holding views that some male people find clashes with their beliefs, yes, it does happen that some people are arses to others. For a wide variety of reasons. None any more justified than others.

To add, the right to go and from school without being beaten up?

(Unclear what the victim's identity or sexuality is, but the video would suggest they were targeted in a hate crime for looking "different".)

Video in the above link is NSFW and disturbing to watch. This happened Monday in Ireland.

Aside from the question why he was beaten up, are you aware of the trend to beat up kids and post online for kicks? It is awful. And the kids are picked on for a wide range of reasons, not just for being gnc or trans.

every kid, for every protected characteristic, has the right to go to school safely and not get beaten up. Trans people have that right already and they don't need additional 'rights' or remove sex based rights from others to have this.

to dominate women.

Your welcome. 😀

I was going to say this but sanluca already did:

"every kid, for every protected characteristic, has the right to go to school safely and not get beaten up. Trans people have that right already and they don't need additional 'rights' or remove sex based rights from others to have this."

And it is disingenuous to suggest that some people would disagree with this in that tired old 'if you are pro women's rights you must hate trans people' way. Yawn. That's just bollocks and any one with half a brain can see through it

Perhaps to go about their day without transphobes accusing them of "having a fetish" or having their identity linked to "bestiality... torture... peadophilia... sex with minors". Which is what a speaker at Kelly Jay Keen's recent anti-trans event said.

The UN is right, when you listen to this it's clear the UK does have a problem with transpeople.

And the woman says those are part of ‘queer theory’.

Would you care to explain how paedophilia is NOT part of queer theory?

No?

As usual, you have posted something that shows the complete lack of knowledge extreme activists have about what they are supporting. Because that tweet was from a troll who obviously didn’t think about what they clipped.

And you are here repeating it for the world to see! How many threads did you post this on???

For those who don’t know about the origins of queer theory, go and look up Michel Foucault and understand that movement is all about removing sexual boundaries.

Yes. There’s a huge difference between knowing that gender identity and sex are not interchangeable and hating on trans people. You can believe that gender identity should not be treated as sex and still love and support trans people.

I would argue it is more accepting of trans people to accept them for who they are rather than pretending they have changed sex.

Stonewall are promoting this on Facebook at the minute: https://actions.stonewall.org.uk/a/stonewall-trans-rights-handraiser
From transphobic “bathroom bills” to heinous headlines, a noisy minority are undermining trans rights at every turn. And those in power appear to be listening to them.
In the last year alone, we’ve seen the UK Government make unprecedented moves to block gender recognition reforms in Scotland, and further delays to the ban on conversion ‘therapy’ in England and Wales.
Read LessThe LGBTQ+ community and our allies won’t sit back while trans rights are trampled on. By coming together, we can show that these anti-trans activists are truly in the minority.

So, ‘undermining trans rights’ seems to boil down to :

  • not allowing everyone to change legal sex just by declaration
  • not banning therapists from exploring issues which may cause discomfort around sex/gender

Not sure what bathroom bills have to do with anything as I’m fairly sure that’s a US thing but I guess it’s nice alliteration along with the ‘heinous headlines’ hyperbole.

What! A noisy minority? Which other minorities do they say that too?

And as the Oxford university professor said yesterday, sex being socially relevant is so commonplace it's barely mentioned until this gang of fools started trying to convince the world it wasn't!

nilsmousehammer · 18/05/2023 12:15

The 'noisy minority' being the women excluded from everything so male people can have total freedom of choice over everything.

If you are angry about women speaking up then you believe that some women should be excluded. And that this is ok: your inclusion and values are for people with penises only.

I'll amplify that minority for fucking ever, because it's fundamentally wrong. It's unjust. It's not inclusion.

PorcelinaV · 18/05/2023 12:21

It's not like they care whether it's a minority or a majority. Actually the polling would probably have a majority being on the GC side depending on the particular issue and whether you start specifying the males are still fully equipped.

All that matters is pushing the agenda through, and then supposedly "public attitudes will catch up later".

nilsmousehammer · 18/05/2023 12:33

When the public attitude is 'some women can be excluded and be denied access to anything because their disability/culture/faith/DA/DV/CSA/ need for privacy and dignity makes them subhuman'...

then I'll be hearing the 'you'll be dead soon' line and thinking 'good'.
