Just posting this as on a thread elsewhere I made some disparaging remarks that the debate will be shuffled off to some small committee room.

But they must think that more than a few MPs are wanting to take part as I have just seen it will be in Westminster Hall.

Will be interesting to see which MPs are willing to state views about the reality of biological sex in public!

Event will be broadcast live.

Sorry, I'm doing him a disservice, he's fairly lucid and actually the most reasonable voice so far for the counter position.

Slothtoes · 12/06/2023 19:00

He’s name checking GC female MPs and JKR
Fantastic -after he’s name checking JKR he’s critiquing those ‘cold and callous’ actors cancelling JKR in their mansions who have benefited from JKR hard work -love it
Beautiful he’s now playing back a Jacques Derrida quote ‘society is in a state of flux’ to say, but science is not in a state of flux

Vulnerable = BINGO

Catiette · 12/06/2023 19:00

I just feel as though the other sides' arguments are almost so flawed as to make our case for us. Is that my bias? They just sound so very weak - such obvious emotive rhetoric / evasion of central issues / generalisations... They just keep drawing my attention to earlier arguments from our side.

This chap indicates he has trans family members.

I never understand this: surely he has women family members too some of whom, statistically, are likely to have been victims of male sexual assault. Do they not count? Some family members matter more than others?

The most patronising fucking pain in the arse ever. She's a gift to us, really.

IwantToRetire · 12/06/2023 19:02

coffee has made me a bit hyper so finding it hard to concentrate.

But seems those who say they are speaking up for trans people, never, ever talk about women's rights.

Most of those speaking up for women's rights have acknowledged trans rights but pointed out the conflict.

Excellent Gay Man is talking brilliantly- ‘if Equalities Legislation is to protect everyone it has to be able to describe everyone’

@IwantToRetire I thought that, too.
