Yet again they've bowed to the transactivist bullies.

Writing to their principal now - absolutely sick of this nonsense. Imagine what it must be like dealing with these students.

Sorry for dredging up an old thread but would be interested to know what people think of the new appointment today? Trying to undo some of their previous mistakes?

Simon Fanshaw!
A fantastic appointment.

A rector is an elected position, through elections by members of the university (certainly students and I think also staff). But this one was an unopposed election. So all we can say is Fanshawe was nominated by someone with enough supporting signatures to meet whatever Edinburgh Uni demands. It's not about the University setting out a new path.

Thanks, so you don't think it is a sign of change of thought at the uni?

Simon Fanshawe rector of Edinburgh www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/5006454-simon-fanshawe-rector-of-edinburgh

I started a thread about this. It was uncontested but only because the other candidate was ruled ineligible.

We don't know what would have happened although I think Simon would have run a good campaign and had a good chance of being elected
