My Mum co-founded the first Rape Crisis Centre in Northern Ireland. I told her about the below(*), she was shaking with rage and felt physically ill. I got a quote from her for @RapeCrisis_NI,

‘You are not feminists, what you’re doing goes against the ethos of any actual rape crisis in the world, which is about women being there for women and children. There will be true rape crisis counsellors at the #LetWomenSpeak event who have worked in this country for over 30 years supporting survivors of rape and sexual abuse whilst you handmaidens betray women.’

(*) See https://twitter.com/NoraUtd/status/1646874371129069569
.

If you read the twitter thread you will see this in one of the responses

The original one that closed due to funding cuts was for women only. The new one that opened years later in 2020 seems to have changed the criteria to all. The previous one lost funding for being too specialist…. Wonder if this was a theme?
.

The BBC have written a news story about the LWS Belfast event and planned protests and that The Women's Rights Network was able to show the film Adult Human Female in Belfast.

BBC report here with maybe a bit of a slant?! ie they aren't counter protests as LWS events are protest but freedom of speech for women events https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-65187388

By "women" you mean "gender critical women". Correct?

just going to repeat this from the post you responded to

Rape Crisis NI are using their time and resources to protest a legal public event, organised by women, who hold different opinions than they do

that doesn't worry you? not even a little bit?

Hi!

about this

Rape Crisis NI are using their time and resources to protest a legal public event, organised by women, who hold different opinions than they do

does that seem like a good use of their time to you?

AmuseBish · 15/04/2023 18:44

Trans women are not males who identify as women, trans women are women," he said.

This is a perfect example of the level of honesty we are dealing with here.

Dishonesty is like a seam running through the whole ideology.

FFS! What keeps your ears apart? Can't you see the clue in the title? Let Women Speak. Not Let GC Women Speak.

In her own words three hours ago

She’s a women’s rights campaigner

she not an anti trans activist. But you already know that!

I (and I'm sure, many others) judge her by what she says, not what she calls her rallies.

So what does she say that enables you to say that she's an anti-trans activist? And no, the reference to men who carry doesn't count.

Fluffymule · 15/04/2023 19:00

I'm sure KJK couldn't give two hoots how MRAs and TRAs 'judge' her. Just like she doesn't give two hoots about how feminists view her.

Not everyone seeks validation in outside opinion, or can only cope when met with zero dissent, opposition or challenge.

Giggorata · 15/04/2023 19:05

Sigh - I complained to the Beeb - again - about describing KJK as an anti trans activist, in what passes for reporting nowadays.
Clearly neither they nor the men's rights activists even bother to examine what she is saying, they are too busy fantasising and lying about reality to engage in a proper discussion.
Or too afraid that their arguments simply don't hold up to examination.

Judge away. Literally no one cares.
As a PP said, some people are grown up/mentally stable enough to handle different opinions and they are respected all the more for it.
Those who sit in judgement of others from their puritanical glass houses however, not so much.

StephanieSuperpowers · 15/04/2023 19:35

It's amazing how angry women speaking still makes people.

Yes isn't it.

Even, perhaps specifically, if only one word is spoken... No.

haXXor · 15/04/2023 19:40

GC women who've been raped, or women of any political stripe who have been raped and have a trauma response to biological males, are betrayed by RCNI. RCNI will not support these women's need for female-only therapeutic space because RCNI think that "women-only" means "some people with penises too". GC women are women. Androphobic women are women. Supporting women's rights means supporting the rights of all women, even the ones you might disagree with, because women's rights are for all women, by definition. Supporting female rape victims means supporting all female rape victims, not just the ones who will parrot TWAW. RCNI have signaled clearly that some women are, in their eyes, unworthy of rape crisis support. RCNI are therefore not fit for purpose, because they will not support all women.

The next opinion that RCNI might decide that adherents to are unworthy of support may be an opinion that you hold, or your sister holds, or your mother holds.

Oh whaaaaaaaaaaaaaat - posted too soon was trying to get rid of the image (I hate that MNHQ have added that automatic function to please advertisers I suppose - grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr ... )

Anyway was just going to add that part of the sucess of TRAs is that they are so helpful to the MRA agenda.

On a practical note, someone up thread said they didn't dare check twitter to see what is going on.

Well in fact it is tomorrow, and I am assuming it is the usual youtube link - does anyone know.

Also know does Belfast use BST - I know if it part of the UK, but being that far west it might have a different timezone?! Blush

(Another gripe about forum software - why doesn't a tag come up for the emojis. I am never sure which is which, so tend not to use them in case I commit some social media faux pas)

Yes. Belfast is in the same timezone as the rest of the UK. Are you in the UK OP?

I need to correct another statement. Our original Rape Crisis shut down because of lack of funds around 2010. Not because they weren't inclusive, because services were being cut to the bone. I remember the documentary at the time and how angry I was because all Rape Crisis needed to stay afloat was around £20k. They didn't get it.

What does she say? Give us the exact transcripts or tweets or verified articles.

Otherwise you are again spreading disinformation as well as misinformation.

So if KJK is talking about "women's rights" in Ireland soon (tomorrow I think), will she be mentioning the recent murder of a sexworker in Limerick?

If you listened when women speak you would know that KJK is not travelling or hosting a woman's speaking event in Ireland 'soon'.

She will be in Belfast, in the UK tomorrow.

Why you think she should use the tragic death of a prostituted woman murdered in a different country under a different legal framework as a talking point eludes me.

Show some respect. The death of a trafficked human is not something anybody stomachs as acceptable fodder for a piss poor internet gotcha attempt.

Why would she?!
These events aren't KJK speechfests, where other women just turn up to hear Kellie speak for an hour, they are events for other women to speak, not her, she just pins the mic on them, which you should know, surely? You do know how these events work, don't you?
Maybe another woman will talk about that, that's entirely for speakers to decide, you know, the content of their own speeches, that they get to make because KJK
lets them speak, as per the name of these events!
