Tickle vs Giggle

For those of who are aware of the Tickle vs Giggle court case in Australia, Sall Grover is looking for some gardening to be done to support her defence. The deplorable response of politicians and the press in Australia to the Let Women Speak rallies, only emphasises how important this case will be.

Just search Giggle crowd fund - she has set up her own site to avoid any potential censorship by the established sites

"The terms man, woman and sex are not defined..."

Oh fuck off with that. Of course they are. Leave the English language alone.
@Justme56 yeah, she looks very uncomfortable. As you would be when talking bollocks in public.

FeralWoman · 04/03/2024 15:47

I wonder if they’ll broadcast this one on YouTube like they did in December for the Lehrmann defamation case. That could be very interesting if they do. The Federal Court of Australia has a YT channel. Hearings are sometimes broadcast live and not repeated or reposted. Recording them or taking screenshots etc is forbidden in Australia.

Anna Cody said they are not defined in the Australian Sex Discrimination Act - this is correct. Sall Grover explained that Julia Gillard's 2013 amendment, to the SDA, which added gender identity into the original act, also removed the definitions of man and woman. The original SDA was based on CEDAW obligations, and SG's team will argue that if "sex" is rendered meaningless or secondary by the amended wording, it should be struck down because it doesn't fulfil the CEDAW obligations. I think, anyway. IANAL.

Anna Cody does look very uncomfortable, though. Understandably.

Here's the link. She's at 50% of what she needs. This one is important.

The case is due to be heard 9th April - it’s a really big one.
Sall is in Terf Island at the moment. This is a great interview.

“I look at [my daughter] & I cannot expect her to go out into the world where she has no rights, that she couldn’t say no to a man. The one most important thing to teach girls is they are allowed to have boundaries. I cannot have it that it’s illegal.”

She was at LWS at Hyde Park today.

Imnobody4 · 24/03/2024 18:48

Sall is going to be on Free Speech Nation tonight as well. Worth watching

I wonder if this is an elephant in a couple of cabinet rooms? Not NSW this past week, obviously. Certainly, in WA, self ID is supposed to be brought in but our AG is not touching it and it occurred to me he might be waiting upon Sall’s case being resolved.

This is a really important case. Australia is a signatory to the Convntion on the Elimination of All Forms Of Discrimination Against Women CEDAW http://www.austlii.edu.au/au/other/dfat/treaties/1983/9.html. If the case goes the way it ought to, it can then be cited by other cases in countries who are also signatories.

She still needs half the money.

Yes - and the Australian media have absolutely refused to cover it. At all. No mention, Sall didn’t even get a response from any journalists when she issued a press statement detailing the case and offering to speak with them.

AvacadoFieldsForever · 25/03/2024 10:35

Stands at $287,456 (£148k). That’s an amazing amount but a long way to go.

The Australian human rights commission are assisting for the tw! The definition of sex has been broadened to include identity. I can barely find an article on the case - it’s almost like the other side are trying to quash it too which seems odd.

She needs carrots.

She’s a very good speaker- clear and accessible

I put this into the general conversations thread, hope that will help.

This case has implications for more than Australia. Australia has signed CEDAW along with 189 states. If the decision is TWAW, then it has implications for all those countries. That means us

This is staggering.

Really! I didn't realise that.

Cailleach1 · 25/03/2024 15:14

Does ‘Human’ Rights Commission’ really exist for these organisations any more? Their inclusion of women as one half of humanity seems to have been twisted, and they now only seem to push for the rights of men to screw over women and girls.

PTSDBarbiegirl · 25/03/2024 15:26

I couldn't really follow all that but essentially in Australia a males birth certificate can be altered to state he's female? Does the 2nd birth certificate state anywhere on it that the person was a natal male who identifies as trans and has had cosmetic surgery and a name change? No wonder the whole Isla Bryson debacle is so contentious. It is possibly a reality that a sex criminal or abuser could go through these administrative changes of recording name but not state biological status at birth. How can anyone then check for sex crimes, violence in relationships when this mockery of the State is allowed.

I have been following this case but until I listened to yet another podcast with Sal at the weekend I had no idea about the CEDAW issue and therefore the international implications. Very scary. Already dug but will do again as too important. Need to tell everyone - do you know you can get 30 australian dollars for just 17 quid?

DiabolicalFinial · 25/03/2024 23:50

Not only can you change your sex on your birth certificate in Australia, but in Queensland, you can change it once per year…
You can have it listed as F, M or X (ie NB).
Previous names/biological sex disappear - it’s trans all the way.

ScathingAngelAgrona · 26/03/2024 00:41

The NSW Governement are attempting to introduce similar legistlation. You can object to this legislation. It is the Equality Legislation Amendment (LGB etc) 2023 Survey.
