Another male in female sport - today, it’s powerlifting’s turn

I didn’t see a thread on this, but apologies if there is one already. Today in the New York Post, I saw an article about Avi Silverberg, a TransWoman. It shares how Avi broke the Canadian lifting record previously held by another TransWoman Anne Andres. We are seriously being trolled at this point.

And the effect is the same, men smashing women's records. Although this dude does even claim to really be a woman.

The man in question did this deliberately to demonstrate the injustice of men competing in the female class.

I believe in the audience was the previous record holder - a trans woman.

So, between the two reports, this beardy guy was protesting the ridiculous self id policy in the sport and nicked the top spot from a genuine brave and stunning trans woman in the women's event? Is that right?

In that case, Good for him for bringing this hugely unfair advantage of being male bodied in Women’s Category of Sports to light.

Yeah, this guy has done it deliberately to highlight how ridiculous the policy is.

The previous record holder was a transwomen who'd posted an incredibly insulting video essentially saying female competitors simply weren't trying hard enough. That person was in the audience when the coach broke their record to prove that any male with training would be able to beat it.

I thought this guy was a womens Canadian Powerlifting coach who did this to shine a light on the stupid Canadian policies that are harming his female athletes?

This guy is a genius! We need more men like him doing this.

This TRA philosophy is both self policing yet incredibly fragile.
Everyone spooks themselves into inaction and inaudibility.
And then the spell is broken by a single action that shouts out.
This Canadian weightlifting coach. Also see KJK...the simple act of talking and not shutting up shows up the madness.
There are lessons to learn here.
The adults lead the way, and once again set the boundaries for the kids (those too young to form their own, and those man children who are off the leash).

Thanks for clarifying this, everyone. I couldn’t make out if it was genuine or just making a point. That’s SO great, that he’s stepped in to highlight this. The more coverage of this lunacy, the better.

His protest seems to have caused a moment of reflection.

I bet the previous transwoman winner was fuming!

Especially as he was there in the audience.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if this guy could get all of the other male competitors to agree to temporarily 'self-identify' as TW and then compete in the women's competition, leaving all of the female competitors to then 'self-identify' as TM for the day and have an all-female 'men's' competition!

Of course, that would all be utterly ridiculous, as opposed to....
