Starting this thread because the new SNP leader is due to be announced on Monday afternoon, sometime after 2pm.

Thought we could have a thread of speculation (who's going to win, what they'll do) followed by reactions after they make the announcement.

Pass along the biscuits.

I can't see it being anyone but Humza, given the SNP's devious machinations, but hopefully this whole thing will put the frighteners on the Greens.

Choc chip OK?

DuesToTheDirt · 26/03/2023 21:39

I was reading earlier that the Greens are threatening to withdraw cooperation with the SNP if they don't get their way on climate justice and trans rights. How can they possibly mention these two things in the same sentence? Climate justice, which should be our number one priority in the hope of staving off world collapse, and should be the whole driving force for the Greens, and.... trans rights.

guinnessguzzler · 26/03/2023 21:53

The Greens should be utterly ashamed of themselves at this point. They have completely lost their way.

I was thinking Abernethy biscuits but I'm not sure if they're just a Scottish thing. Choc chip are lovely though, thanks!

The sad thing is this isn't that far off the Scottish Greens -

I've properly made myself want one now and no way to get any. Gah.

Seriously??? you decided to share your torture then! I at least thought you would be already sat eating a packet, whereas I've just had to make a note to put some in my shopping on Thursday!

BlackForestCake · 26/03/2023 22:33

The Scottish Greens leaving government would be the best thing to happen to Scottish politics this year. They are mad, authoritarian fanatics.

My fear is that Yousaf could win and they don’t leave, or Forbes wins and they find some self-serving excuse to stay after all. Because if they leave, the game is up. They need the SNP more than the SNP needs them. (Salmond had a minority government without a coalition).

RoyalCorgi · 27/03/2023 08:44

I didn't realise this before, but according to the Times today, Humza has said he won't pursue a legal challenge against the UK government's decision to block the GRR bill. So, whoever wins, the bill is dead.

And if no one pursues the legal challenge, then the Greens will leave government which, as PPs have said, is a great outcome all round.

Who would have thought back in December that things would turn around this fast?

The GRR Bill is indeed a dead duck. Women in Scotland are somewhat safer because of it.

We still have all the other issues to sort, of course.

ArabellaScott · 27/03/2023 08:55

To be announced at 2pm.

3 months ago we were 5 days past the Bill being passed!! And now Nicola gone, the Bill, stopped by Westminster, and now probably the SNP as well. Pink leggings man definitely helped there! And in this past three months so many more, and not just 6 people, but probably millions around the world have started becoming so much more aware of exactly what was given away with 'be kind'.

Where will we be in another three months? I

You can shore a wall up for years with a couple of rusty props. But once one fails that wall is coming down on the next windy day.

BloodyHellKen · 27/03/2023 12:09

Humza: I would drop GRR case if Legal advice says we'll lose.

Translation:

We've taken legal advice and been told we're going to to lose so I'm going to drop the GRR but I wanted the TRA vote so I'm only telling you this now after voting has almost closed 😂

NotHavingIt · 27/03/2023 12:13

I see the Greens are threatening to throw a wobbly should anyone but Humza be elected. Mharie Black threatening to stand down too.

That would be sad😂

This is the most exciting political division since the 'mummy loves me best' days of Miliband-gate.

IcakethereforeIam · 27/03/2023 12:28

I don't even know what Abernethy biscuits are but I want one now! Still looking for dark choc tunnocks teacakes. They had a box of dark choc tunnock wafers but it was empty 😔

I can't wait to see what the greens do.

guinnessguzzler · 27/03/2023 12:31

Not long to go before the drama starts 😂

Wow, this really could be a brilliant day all round.

If Forbes gets in, expect to see a massive amount of strops and terrified jumps as people flee the derailing gravy train/sinking ship.

2013isback · 27/03/2023 12:45

Humza has proven themself every bit as TERFy as the other two now, saying that Isla Bryson can't self-ID and GRR is dispensible. What's the difference between them and the other two Leadership candidates, I wonder? 🤔

Have you ever had a Tunnock's Chocolate Caramel Log? Ooh, they are nice. Not in the same league as Teacakes but you wouldn't turn one down when the plate comes round.

Greta who i see as exploited, supported a non-binary male who I wouldn't support, she was awarded an honours degree in Teology not science. I don't trust any science now from the Greens.

Tunnocks caramel logs? Never heard of them.

Right, (wipes chocolate from mouth), better go and clear up the mess from breakfast
