I know the Guardian are generally crap on women’s rights but FFS - no mention of Let Women Speak, stating that it was an “anti-trans” event and the mob were “pro-trans”, rather than pro-women and anti-women. Horrible stuff - I’m going to email.

Anti-trans activist Posie Parker ends New Zealand tour after chaotic protests at event

The controversial UK gender activist was booed, heckled, and doused with tomato juice in a heated confrontation between groups in Auckland

The print Guardian is buggered financially. It's been reduced to an online caricature.

Has anyone else had the 'you are one of out top global readers' begging messages yet? They're not getting a penny from me while they behave like Owen Jones's play pen.

TangledUpinBlu · 26/03/2023 02:00

Yes I'm a top reader on my works computer which other people use all day with the same log in.
84 articles this year, which even if taken as this year rather than the whole last year is not much.
Less than one a day and they are pretty lefty bunch.

Suzanne Moore has spilled a little dirt, after she left. She was there in the '90s, elsewhere for a while, and back around 2012. According to her, it was always sexist in terms of how it treated women on its staff, but it was more a matter of neglect or deprioritisation; the virulent misogyny didn't start until around 2013 (although given her timing, it might have been earlier). She attributes it to a few factors: the rise of social media, conformity/set rules about which "opinions" are allowed, the editors' reluctance to defend any writer that fell afoul of the mob, the US influence (including US-based staff and "readers" on SM not understanding that the UK is a separate country), and funding from Open Society.

I'm sure it won't convince your mum, but might be mildly interesting: https://unherd.com/2020/11/why-i-had-to-leave-the-guardian/

Why I had to leave The Guardian

If you were bullied by 338 colleagues, what would you do?

The Guardian didn’t change … you changed.

Surprisingly, LandofConfusion (love your name btw) you might just be right. I think women have changed. Why do you think that might be? What have so many women suddenly become radicalised and risked everything to 'be on the wrong side of history' ? 😂 Sadly, The Guardian, like other news outlets have been asleep on the job. C'mon the women 🥳

Nah, it’s obvious how much the Graun has changed, just contrast it to it’s supposed ‘sister’ paper, the Observer.

Nothing alike these days, now the Observer alone occupies the space where they both used to sit.

Thank you @SerenaVanDerWoodsenHumphrey

Really interesting stuff, enlightening about the 90s era.

XOXO, in tribute to your username!

Don’t worry, it’ll all work itself out.

Here’s the former deputy PM of NZ calling for the perpetrator of the assault to be arrested.

The truth always wins eventually.

Winston Peters is a former Deputy PM because his unpopularity led to him failing to be reelected at the last General Election. He is not even a member of Parliament.

The point is, he’s a public figure in NZ who recognises that a crime was committed, on camera, and KJK was the victim.

And if he can see that, that so can lots and lots of other NZ residents.

Like I said, no need to worry your confusedself, the truth will assert itself and the terves will be victorious.

You are so daft, thinking popularity is more important than truth and justice 😅

He is a polarising politician who was so unpopular that his entire party was dumped from Parliament at the last General Election.

I’ll let you deduce how popular his ‘opinions’ are to the average Kiwi.

You don’t have to win a popularity contest to know a crime when you see one.

A male with a special gender assaulted a woman, on camera. The former deputy PM of the country acknowledges the ‘clear’ crime.

Do you acknowledge a crime was committed against KJK?
Do you think assaulting someone is ok if you disagree with their opinions?

Why have you put ‘opinions’ in quotation marks? Who are you quoting?

Why do the Guardian and the rest of the captured Left refer to women who defend women's rights as "transphobic"?
Answer: because to the modern captured Left, the whole concept of "women's rights" is seen as inherently transphobic. Granting actual women the power to define "women", to set women's boundaries and determine what constitutes women's rights, all disincludes and discriminates against the women that really matter - that is, the women who are actually men, and who should therefore be in charge of these things.
The Left have always been as patriarchal as the Right, if not more so, and they believe that transgender ideology has gifted them the opportunity to strongly reassert male hegemony, after decades in which feminism threatened to make inroads into a male-dominated world. And they can find plenty of women to endorse and embrace this misogyny, as there's never been a shortage of left-wing women to whom the approval of their left-wing male masters is all that matters.

they don't. They refer to people like KJK as transphobic bc of all the transphobic shit she says.

I read the Guardian from the age of13 until about 5 years ago. Stopped buying it because they really had lost the plot. They don't give a toss about women, follow the whole TWAW stuff and have Owen Jones. Need I say more. I won't buy it or contribute to it when they ask me to on one of their pop-ups. I hope they cease to exist soon. And I vote Labour, every time since 1974, and I'm not sure how to vote any longer.

Sausagenbacon · 26/03/2023 07:18

Cologne NYE did it for me. First the non-reporting (like the BBC) the Gaby Hinsliff's victim-blaming.
But, tbh, it's rubbish now. My dh takes it on Saturday, and it's full of non-stories.

Hi ElonMusky, what do you think of the protests at the Lesbian Event? Another example of anti women activists not letting women exclude men, no difference to the anti women activists protesting LWS. Homophobia just as fine as misogyny?

FourTeaFallOut · 26/03/2023 07:33

Transphobic shit like, women don't have penises, women deserve single sex spaces and children shouldn't be mutilated at the alter if gender theology, ElonsMusky?

Are you saying that if a person calling for an investigation of a crime isn’t popular that should influence whether or not that crime is investigated? Would that just apply to assault or would you extend such logic to other offences?

Me too re Cologne, that's the point I stopped taking it seriously in any way, and yes it's full of boring, self-important middle class people writing self-indulgent thinkpieces about nothing.

More recently, the awful Guardian US responsible for some of the more rabid woman hating around women's rights in the self ID debate and completely lying about Wi Spa, their indulgence of Owen Jones and other misogynists in the staff, their treatment of their female staff over trans issues and others, the list goes on.
