Lib Dems just showed their true colours

At the Liberal Democrat Conference just now.

A fairly ordinary motion to tidy up quotas on party committees - basically, as it stood women were disadvantaged as a committee could be constituted entirely of men and non-binary men.

Wasn't even allowed to be discussed. The zealots pushed a 'move to next business' vote to silence women.

Raging misogyny. It's really, really not a good look guys.

Wow, how bloody disappointing :(

TheBiologyStupid · 22/03/2023 22:29

Yes, saw the Glinner update earlier - Ed Davey should be ashamed of himself.

Birdsweepsin · 23/03/2023 06:26

Labour, Greens, Lib Dems, SNP...

Do none of you want women's votes?

Good god, the comments on that liberal [ahahahaha!] voice blog 😱

You can feel the almost religious fervour coming through the screen. So busy being self righteous they don't realise how wrong they are. I don't just mean wrong about the issue itself, but wrong about what we actually believe (as is usually the case).

I suppose it's easier to dehumanised people who believe some completely made up awful things than people who believe perfectly reasonable, WORAIDS, sane and true things.

I would not want to meet those posters down a dark alley. And I certainly won't vote for them, so I guess they'll be quite happy with that.

"Disagree Well!"

Nice piece, shame about the comments

They are the epitome of ‘so open-minded their brains have fallen out’.

I saw the Lib-Dems as a party who didn’t really know what they stood for. A party with no absolute values, which could only be defined in relation to the Tories and Labour. A party who shifted left and right depending on where there was a gap. A party who dithered about in the middle of the road until they got run over.

the comments…! Some of these are quite extreme. Shame when the original contribution from Willie was trying to take the heat out of the situation.
