Reporting what two people on Twitter thought is really scraping the barrel for an article. I think interrupting Geldof to "correct" his use of pronouns would have been ridiculous given that he was there mainly to talk about the recent death of his band mate. The conversation about SSmith seems to have been tangential and historical, a decade ago.

Just for clarity, this member of the public couldn't give a shiney shite about misgendering Sam Smith.

99% of the public comments on the story my local paper ran were not at all disappointed, quite the opposite.

That Twitter account is her personal one, though, and she's allowed to have a point of view. She's not remotely claiming to speak for the wider public.

Of course not, and obviously that's her personal twitter feed. But she has her job role and employer in her Twitter bio, which makes it clear what her vested interests might be.

And either way, this "news" article mentions precisely two twitter users who were disappointed about Geldof's use of pronouns. Two! Such a big issue.
