Turned off replies, no wonder. Lots of great quote tweets

Johnnysgirl · 17/02/2023 12:00

Shameful, but the responses are heartening.

Hercules12 · 17/02/2023 12:09

So disappointing

VeronicaBeccabunga · 17/02/2023 12:15

"You failed on the Woman bit meaning you aren't very good at the Science bit either.🙄"

^This

When you put this together with the trans woman who won a local beauty pageant in New Hampshire, US, and a few other similar events (the Canadian person with huge prosthetic breasts, promotion of drag queens for children) one might almost imagine that the point is to take the mickey out of women and ridicule the whole sex as much as possible.

Though the examples are not all from the same country, which torpedoes my theory. Still, there's time for this trend to become more and more openly misogynistic.

One incredible female scientist working for them they could have chosen

Missed this one. What a counterproductive insult to women and girls, and especially the DTSI's own female scientists. FFS!

That’s amazing!

The responses are heartening but so effing disappointing that government departments have been swept up in all of this crap.

I’ve had enough of this shit 😡

Clymene · 24/02/2023 18:10

Not only is this infuriating and demoralising for the women working in defence, it also sends a really, really shit message to girls who want to work in STEM and defence - 'Men get all the best jobs and run everything. And even when we make prizes and awards for women, well, men get those too. Frankly, whatever you do and however good you are, there's always a man who we'll choose over you'

Fuck that shit.

StephanieSuperpowers · 24/02/2023 18:58

They were probably high fiving their inclusive tweet all over the place until the replies came in.

Yes, I noticed that one, Boiled. Genius!

Igmum · 24/02/2023 20:04

Bloody brilliant replies and every single one of them calls this out. I'm looking forward to a retraction with a grovelling apology plus some publicity for all those amazing women scientists out there [popcorn]

Igmum · 24/02/2023 20:05

Well that didn't turn into a picture ☹️

This. Put far better than I could manage.

Cos the best woman to inspire women is always a man.
