Yes, my immediate thought was that SS was talking about being an angler rather than a fisherman. What does Smith mean by "ending my days" anyway? It's just another inane comment. Though at least it would mean that Sam would have to remain silent and very, very still.

There are enough words for those learning English to grasp without making new ones - you can't take 'man' out of each word and just put 'them' instead.

He's not the one using the pronouns - he's dictating the pronouns everyone else should use about him. And sorry, but it just does not come naturally to use 'them' for someone who is clearly male. Even Sam stumbled over saying fisherthem and I've heard other non-binary people correcting themselves when they talk about being non- binary. It's constant mental gymnastics. This thread really is just a bit of fun at a bit of ridiculousness!

Gender neutral pronouns wouldn't have to lead anywhere if people just accepted sex is immutable and that they are either male or female and stopped worrying about made up gender nonsense.
