New signage at my work

Signage at my work HQ, a county council in the South East of England, were recently refurbed including directions, office numbers and meeting rooms across a 4 floor large old fashioned block.

Thought nothing of it until I went to the loo.... and discovered new signs!

Female toilet.
Male toilet.
Unisex toilet.

The unisex toilet being newly created out of part of the male toilets.

I suspected my org was coyly GC but now confirmed!

Oh and on the floor in question (I assume it is across all floors) is the IT department - mostly male.

Love it!

Our building (which is overwhelmingly female-dominated) recently created a unisex toilet out of the women's toilet. And yes, it was at the behest of a man. I like to think your organisation has now cancelled out the madness of mine.

Lottapianos · 16/02/2023 17:30

My heart sank when I read your thread title but wow, good news for once! 😁👍

crosstalk · 16/02/2023 17:40

Yay! I don't want anyone to lose out but it seems until now it's mostly women losing WC spaces if they don't want to share with men.

DOBARDAN · 16/02/2023 17:40

That’s what I’d like to see

DipsyLaLaPo · 16/02/2023 18:00

I thought a bit of tension would increase the joy of the happy ending 🤣

A very logical solution

Ohyoudodoyou · 16/02/2023 19:47

That's what a good organisation should be working towards.

MissPollysFitDolly · 16/02/2023 20:48

I was expecting the worse too! If only all organisations could be that sensible.

Americansmoothy · 16/02/2023 20:48

Exactly the right solution.

The tide is definitely turning so GC people are feeling more able to make sensible decisions like this.

RufustheFloralmissingreindeer · 16/02/2023 21:04

Thats great news

LizzieSiddal · 16/02/2023 21:26

Why can’t every company be as sensible as yours?

MrsJamin · 16/02/2023 21:31

No way was that uber-woke Reading Council - they are the worst. :(

Oh, excellent! When I read "signage" in the title I came on to advise you to discreetly rip it down.
Brilliant!

RaininginDarling · 16/02/2023 21:34

You tease, OP! Great news, may other organisations follow suit.

PriOn1 · 16/02/2023 21:39

Great that it was taken from the men’s. My son commented yesterday that providing a mixed-sex toilet was effectively providing additional provision for men.

You're raising a good 'un.

It is very permanent signage, sticking out of the wall so you can see it coming down the corridor. Next time I'm there I'm taking a picture because it needs to be used to show others how it is done 👏

Half an hour before I saw it Nicola Sturgeon resigned, so I was practically skipping back to my meeting.

Wuhu! Another great day for Adult Human Females!
That's brilliant!

Tinysoxxx · 16/02/2023 22:04

Really sensible solution. Well done council.

StClare101 · 16/02/2023 22:13

My workplace (very large corporate) has female toilets, men’s toilets, gender neutral toilets and disabled toilets. I have never seen anyone walk in or out of the gender neutral toilets (they are all in the same general area).

Oh dear, RBC is my council. In what way are they awful (I've obviously not been paying enough attention)?

Readingtonian · 16/02/2023 22:18

Agree about Reading, they’ve always come across as completely captured and so “open minded” that their brains have fallen out. So kind and liberal that they don’t give a fuck about women Hmm

Readingtonian · 16/02/2023 22:23

@SignOnTheWindow

democracy.reading.gov.uk/documents/s14945/Appendix%20G%20-%20Transgender%20Policy.pdf

Note the sections of “bullying and harassment” being “transphobic literature” (and we all know that this is usually defined as anything GC), trans people being able to use any toilet they want (no consideration for women who might want single sex facilities) and the demand that chosen pronouns are used.

MrsJamin · 16/02/2023 22:24

Absolutely @Readingtonian - many of the female councilors post on social media about how TWAW and that they're attending trans day of remembrance, etc. It's pathetic how they don't listen to women in their wards. They did the whole "paint the pride rainbow on a main road" thing just for woke virtue-signalling, no care for who else who needs help to use the road carefully.
