Oh wow! Happy day!

BezMills · 15/02/2023 10:11

let's see what her stated reason is. Will be glued to the box at 11am

Somanysocks · 15/02/2023 10:11

Like a rat leaving a sinking ship.

Chrysanthemum5 · 15/02/2023 10:12

So many things she could be resigning over:
The GRR bill
Transwomen in women's prisons
The bottle deposit fiasco
The decline in educational achievement under her Government
The huge drug problem and drug deaths under her Government
The ferries
The 'loss' of money donated for an independence referendum

And that's just the list I can think of immediately. Her legacy is so poor, and I think that will hurt her more than anything else ever could

That BBC link is dead - is this definitely legit?

Before we all start breaking out the champagne, is she just going to be replaced by another batshit genderist?

Will the SNP as a whole backpedal on the GRR bill?

I don't think so. Self ID was the thing that has taken her down because it led to a fall in support for independence. Whoever replaces her is not going to want to sacrifice their career for the same reason, especially as I doubt many of these politicians really care about so-called "trans rights" but they saw it as "progressive" and an easy win, a bit like gay marriage and are now afraid to row back having declared their support. For that reason I suspect they will retain something really general in their policies around reviewing and strengthening laws to ensure trans people can live as they wish blah blah blah but not make any actual moves towards it unless/until independence looks more certain.

Yes, where's the catch?

containsnuts · 15/02/2023 10:14

Why the surprise? She already said she would go in October if she lost the referendum (which is a strong possibility).

She's 'had enough'

Mummyoflittledragon · 15/02/2023 10:15

This is good news, I think. A mock resignation letter popped up on my Twitter feed very early this morning.

Yep.

Every single politician in this country, right down to parish councillors, should pay attention.

I was just catching up on Twitter and I knew that you lot would be on it.

Good

fromorbit · 15/02/2023 10:16

Incredible result. Let those who oppose women's rights beware!

Starmer you will be next unless you change your attitude.

Time to double down everyone. We are winning battles, but the war is not over.

If you are in Scotland and support Indy think about joining the SNP and help get a pro woman politician into power. The leadership battle will be crazy. Kate Forbes is the one we want she knows who women are and is also competent. She will need help though.

Likely replacemnt is probably Swinney. Which doesn't fill my heart with joy.

ArabellaScott · 15/02/2023 10:18

Oh, okay, Twitter rumour has it Swinney will go with her.

Extra interesting.

Just what I came here to say. I'm glad to see the back of the self-proclaimed "First Feminist", but I suspect that whoever replaces her will be full-on TWAW and continue to push the (aptly named) GRR nonsense.
