It will be Westminster’s fault

Sugarfree23 · 15/02/2023 13:01

Oh yeah remember her bright idea cut the bottom of the classroom fire doors to increase ventilation. 😂

I think this is true to an extent. What I think has happened is that her fall in popularity and support due to genderism made her vulnerable. Once a politician is shown to be weak out come the knives in retaliation for all kinds of things and the media grasp the opportunity to bring to the fore things they've been sitting on waiting for such an occasion.

Yes. It's impossible to verbally support gender ideology, without agreeing to sacrifice vulnerable women, children, logic and reality.

Politicians may not care about women, children, logic or reality, but when they know they can use it to disarm their opponent in a heartbeat, why wouldn't they?

Am I the only one on here that likes her? She's not our PM but she was great during the pandemic. I would have swapped her for BoJo anyday. Couldn't have worse

I also thought she performed very well during the pandemic, and also at the previous general election where it was easy to get carried away by the fact that she talked the sort of reasonable centre-left talk that some of us in England would have liked to have heard from Labour and forget that she was a one trick pony.

I'm disappointed. I wanted to like her. I wanted her to be a solid working class Scottish woman like the women I grew up with. I wanted her to be honest.

I thought yours was too draconian

All nurseries shutting at one point left women high and dry

CryptoFascistMadameCholet · 15/02/2023 13:05

Nicola Sturgeon plays the role of a capable, grown up politician very well. Outwardly, at least.

The SNP policies she has presided over, however, are a big ol’ clusterfuck.

spuddel · 15/02/2023 13:06

Good riddance to bad rubbish! She has trashed my beautiful country. Not that I am optimistic for her replacement. It will be like losing Jacinda and getting Hipkins no doubt.

Shelefttheweb · 15/02/2023 13:07

performed as in gave good speeches? Daily party political speeches also helped her in the last Scottish election. She certainly didn’t perform well in managing either the country or the pandemic.

Timeforachangeisitnot · 15/02/2023 13:07

@SerenaVanDerWoodsenHumphrey
thank you! Very helpful

GoldenPineapple88 · 15/02/2023 13:08

Excellent news for women!

I truly hope the transgender prison fiasco prompted this, and if so, that other politicians sit up and pay attention (I'm looking at you, Starmer...)

ArcaneWirelessIsCopingJustFine · 15/02/2023 13:08

Thank you for that explanation

@SerenaVanDerWoodsenHumphrey

TimandGinger · 15/02/2023 13:09

I was so glad during Covid that we weren't independent. You could see she was itching to keep everything shut including schools, but the pressure from England being open was too much. Even then she insisted on masks on under 12s just to be different.

Emmamoo89 · 15/02/2023 13:09

Wooooo!

Floisme · 15/02/2023 13:10

Some bizarre and depressing comments on that Twitter thread. A journalist asks a politician an awkward question and is rebuked for being 'unclassy' and lacking respect. That profession is in deep trouble.

Im not Scottish, and while I hope the Scots will choose to stay part of the UK, if you gals and guys do choose to leave I wish you all the best of luck as an independent country.
I do hope you get a better leader than Sturgeon though. I think she was dreadful for the people of Scotland. I'm glad she's gone. Scotland deserves better than her.

ResisterRex · 15/02/2023 13:12

So there is an investigation. Just that she's not been interviewed

He just wasn’t deferential enough. How dare he seek to hold a politician to account. He should have respectfully mourned the passing of St Nicola, the first feminist like all ‘right thinking’ individuals.

Tiddlywinkly · 15/02/2023 13:15

I'm so happy. That news has made my listen. Pay attention Keir.

Tiddlywinkly · 15/02/2023 13:16

Ah Autocorrect - 'day' not listen

She did give the appearance of being more in control, her daily speeches were reassuring to many.

Unfortunately the policy decisions were just as bad as those of WM - our death rates and policy mis-steps were just as bad.

I don't really wholly blame any politicians for fucking that up - it was a black swan event and must have been very very hard to manage.

Ferries, roads, education, democratic processes, political transparency, and health, however ...

ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 15/02/2023 13:18

For those praising her achievements...

ArabellaScott · 15/02/2023 13:19

It's tricky because in some ways a politician needs to be a performer and present a capable, decisive front to the world. So deriding a politician for being 'fake' maybe is a bit unfair.

I guess one has to judge on deeds as well as words.

Plus, I just hate lies, and Sturgeon is a liar.

FrostyFifi · 15/02/2023 13:20

She's not our PM but she was great during the pandemic.

She was unfortunately ours during the pandemic and it was what opened my eyes to the absolute incompetence of the woman. No understanding of how businesses function, no care for economic realities.
Good riddance.

twinklystar23 · 15/02/2023 13:22

Recalling the passing of the act, and the wonderful merkin flashing episode, it cut to sturgeon, she looked very worried.

Hope the batshittery of the gender reform will be front and centre. Interesting to watch how this plays out.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 15/02/2023 13:22

Yes, I respected her during that part of the pandemic when we still acknowledged that COVID is dangerous and were treating it accordingly.
