I actually did hear someone claim, like JustTellingPorkies does here, that it was prejudicial to report abuse by Catholic priests as being abuse by Catholic priests & not just by men.

I pointed out that if they thought that, they’d be all in favour of ordaining women.

So we are not discriminating we are differentiating between male and female for clearly evidenced biological reasons

We feel that to differentiate between genders however ( so transowmwn and women ) would actually be discriminating against men and transmen because there is no unifying fundamental reason why we should ?

When a man starts displaying sexual behaviour in public, it's a bad sign. It doesn't always escalate, but there's a risk it will.

Requiring/encouraging/grooming people to ignore some kinds of sexualized public behaviour and to mistrust their instincts about it is a very bad idea.

Let's hope health care professionals continue to discriminate on the basis of sex too, eh?

If we lived in a country that viewed transwomen as men consistently then I would argue this thread could be wrong to call out the transgender nature because at that point it's like saying they are a ranger supporter - irrelevant but likely to stir up bad feelings to a community

Had the media chosen to eg. go out of their way to focus on the lesbian sexuality of the parents who killed their daughter Star of course there would be knock on consequences in terms of increased societal discrimination against lesbians. I wonder what forums existed discussing lesbian propensity to abuse and criminality after that? They would have been operating in exactly the way Mumsnet FWR operates, just focusing on a different characteristic.

The media could go out of their way to focus on the vast, vast over-representation of lesbians in US jails and draw some conclusions from that, or wait for readers to draw their own conclusions.

I've got to say, as a lesbian, I'm pleased that the media are not going out of their way to highlight this as I know that would lead to increased discrimination for myself and my friends.

But being lesbian isn't a risk factor for violence against women and girls. Being male is. And according to statistics, being trans and male appears to increase that risk.

When that characteristic causes the government to instantly depart from reality and send men to women's jails it's reprehensible not to highlight it.
