I live very locally to his house and you're right, there was a police presence/forensics/far more comings and goings at the house than you would have expected for a "simple" case. His butcher shop, which I believe he had recently stopped running, had police in it a few times and has been boarded up. As far as I know, they aren't still at the properties. I've walked/driven past the shop a number of times in the past few weeks and there haven't been police there but that's not to say they haven't been other times. Nothing has been said about anything being found. Certainly nothing sinister like digging up the garden which was mentioned in the rumour mill but I don't think that actually happened. He is also rumoured to be part of a large paedophile ring under the guise of a pizza shop which apparently is a known euphemism type thing between them for obtaining images/videos of children and, disgustingly, access to them in person.

The pizza shop thing is a QAnon conspiracy theory in the States about a paedophile ring of elites, I’m not sure how much can be read into that

@slamfightbrightlight the QAnon conspiracy theory was my first thought too, when I read that. Hopefully it’s a case of the rumour mill jumping onto whatever pizza sideline he did have.

I just got a news alert about this story from BBC and was so confused about it I came to mumsnet because I knew there would be a thread about it somewhere!!

I’ve not followed it but I’m really confused so much about the whole trans thing now! Why is this person being reported as a man and not a trans woman? I thought if you were transitioning you were then the gender you say you are ie woman? What’s different about this person that they are calling them a man - on the photo they showed it does look like a woman to me so surely they aren’t someone in the early stages of transition?? I just don’t understand anything any more.

What an awful, awful crime, gender questions aside. I am afraid every time I read another story of something happening to children I become more and more overprotective and I don’t actually think being overprotective is healthy.
