Nothing new here, it’s exactly the same method that infertile heterosexual women have been using for ages, donor egg IVF.

As the couple you describe will need a male sperm donor, they are no different to any other couple who need donor gametes to conceive.

It's really not as straightforward as you think, if you want to get into specifics then chromosomes are weird. Your sex is usually the same as the gender you're assigned at birth but sometimes it's not. There are many examples of people who have odd chromosomal characteristics and like so many things it's a spectrum. Most people are just male or female it all matches up,and we are happy. But some people aren't

There's cloning as well. That's been around for far longer, and live birth has been achieved successfully in large mammals rather than just mice.

But it's never made it to humans. We'll see if skin sperm ever gets as far as sheep.

Generally with these technologies the process goes something like:
