So @ismu you realise every rapist is someone’s son right?
who assigns these genders? Is there a gender fairy or…….
there should be places that are safe for all people. You are right. And fir women those are single sex spaces. If males with a trans identity are not safe in male spaces, that is not womens problem. That is something for males to sort out.

TightFistedWozerk · 09/02/2023 17:13

Oh dear. Oh dearie dearie me.

No person has ever changed sex, no one. Never. Not one.

People with DD prefer not to be brought into this debate, @ismu

They prefer not to be used as a gotcha weapon by TRA's.

They prefer to be called people with DSDs rather than intersex because every single one of them is male or female whether it was obvious at birth or not.

I'm sorry if I've offended anyone in this, but there's plenty of evidence that people with DSDs have been misgendered in the past, causing heartache. It's absolutely not a gotcha but does demonstrate just how confusing it is to make statements like " they are all still males" or " they are all still females " about anyone's gender.

picklemewalnuts · 09/02/2023 17:15

So, very very few people are assigned sex wrongly at birth. Those who were do not change sex. They may get their birth certificate changed. They DO NOT CHANGE SEX because that's not possible.

I shouted for the hard of hearing at the back, but can't help the hard of thinking, sorry.

Are you OK, @ismu ? Is this all new to you and you are genuinely confused?

TightFistedWozerk · 09/02/2023 17:16

It is pitiful, tbh.

We will not be distracted from talking about harms inflicted on women and children by men. Sorrynotsorry if that upsets you, or triggers you, or if you find it an uncomfortable truth.

Happylittlechicken · 09/02/2023 17:18

Love the way @ismu talks about safe spaces for all people then insists that as people can change sex 🙄🙄🙄🙄. Violent male rapists should be locked up with vulnerable women. I’m trying to work out whether @ismu actually believeS women are not people or Is dumber than a box of logs

"It is possible to change sex because the gender you have been assigned at birth may be wrong."
😂😂😂breathe, breathe😂😂rofl😂

This kind of othering of anyone who disagrees is why Mumsnet is dying on it's feet. It used to be somewhere to debate robustly, find out interesting information and have a laugh. Now if you don't agree with bigotry you either need to lurk and shut up or get the full mean girl treatment along with name calling 🤡🐟

The fact that this person is trans is actually an important detail. Because there are numerous examples of safeguarding rules being set aside just because a person is trans. The fact that some trans people commit crimes needs to be recognised because (frankly) they do, and so should be subjected to exactly the same safeguarding rules as everyone else.

It is similar to the "Catholic priest" thing. Often a person's religion is not relevant and therefore bringing it up does seem like you are trying to paint a whole group in a certain way. However, the Catholic church has history of ignoring safeguarding rules so it is important to recognise that some Catholic priests commit crimes and need to be subjected to proper safeguarding procedures, just like everyone else.

Nobody is saying that all trans people (or all Catholic priests) commit horrific crimes. People are saying that some do, and therefore all need to be subject to the same safeguarding rules as everyone else.

It's that simple.

We also discriminate against 50% of the population already, that is men because some of them are unsafe.

Some posters here are essentially saying turn a blind eye, shut up, it doesn't happen that often.

Men who say they are trans are still men. I think posters here are jumping up and down saying, look, male behaviour doesn't become female behaviour on someone's declaration.

It's crazy to keep denying it and to make female spaces easier to access, and also for the press and police to record these crimes as by women.

Happylittlechicken · 09/02/2023 17:22

ismu · 09/02/2023 17:20

So go on @ismu, how do these mythical people change sex? Are you saying that a male will change DNA to become female? How?

Helleofabore · 09/02/2023 17:25

ismu · 09/02/2023 17:07

@ShireWifeofNigelFarage I didn't realise frothing at the mouth was gender specific! I would have associated that with rabies or being incoherent. That's a new mysogny but I guess as GC you are the experts, perhaps just contradicting you is misogynistic?

@Helleofabore you are wrong. It is possible to change sex because the gender you have been assigned at birth may be wrong. ( see intersex)
In most cases people don't want to do this. But since we don't understand the entire universe even now, there may be a physical cause yet to be discovered.
In any case if people identify strongly as a different gender whether or not they have surgery or medication, it shouldn't matter. There should be places which are safe for all people and we shouldn't tolerate any abuse, but also we can't posit everyone with a penis as a terrible danger to society. That's your son, partner, father, uncle... really? I feel that you just actually hate men.

You can keep repeating your claims but those people who have differences of sex development are not comparable in any way, except that it is expected that the same ratio of people with DSDs or VSDs may be trans as the rest of the population.

"But since we don't understand the entire universe even now, there may be a physical cause yet to be discovered."

Right. There is absolutely nothing as yet. To claim there is, is a falsehood.

So, now you are pivoting because you realise that you are repeating false trope.

"In any case if people identify strongly as a different gender whether or not they have surgery or medication, it shouldn't matter. There should be places which are safe for all people and we shouldn't tolerate any abuse, but also we can't posit everyone with a penis as a terrible danger to society. That's your son, partner, father, uncle... really? I feel that you just actually hate men."

There SHOULD be places where people are safe. I don't think ANYONE on this thread is arguing that there should not be. Just that males should not be allowed to access female single sex spaces.

"but also we can't posit everyone with a penis as a terrible danger to society."

You really are pushing ALL the tropes and the appeals to believe false claims based on emotional manipulation. And hyperbole, catatrophising AND polarisation. NO ONE says that "everyone with a penis as a terrible danger to society." But people say, "everyone with a penis has the SAME risk to society unless."

And I hate to tell you. Society does posit that ALL males over a certain age is to be treated as having the same base risk level as all other males.

I know. How surprising that you didn't know this!!!

"That's your son, partner, father, uncle... really? I feel that you just actually hate men."

oooh..... another wonderful cogitive distortion!

This one is 'jumping to conclusions' with absolutely no evidence at all to support such a claim!

YES! My "your son, partner, father, uncle" whichever I have SHOULD be treated as having the same risk as all other males. Even better, they accept that they should and really want to make sure all the female people in their lives, whatever that female's gender or age, has access to the spaces that they need kept single sex.

But no.... I don't hate men. I love the men in my life very much. But why stop being wrong with that claim!

Keep it coming. Readers are getting a great live demonstration of the tropes and tactics used by some posters who simply have nothing to offer except shaming post and claims that are not supported with proven evidence.

Jesus, the quality of visitors has really deteriorated. I don't think i have the strength to wrestle them all into submission one dunce at a time.

You lot are way more patient than me.

GETTING A FUCKING CERTIFICATE DOES NOT MEAN YOU HAVE CHANGED SEX ANY MORE THAN GETTING INE THAT SAYS YOU ARE QUEEN OF THE UNIVERSE MAKES YOU QUEEN OF THE UNIVERSE

Please link us up to that evidence. We are all agog.

"Now if you don't agree with bigotry you either need to lurk and shut up or get the full mean girl treatment along with name calling 🤡🐟"

Or.... you could post a post that doesn't seek to shame other posters, that doesn't claim that a board is 'anti-trans' and you could post well argued and evidenced claims.

Up to you.

But you know that making negative generalisations as you have done in quite a few of your posts is against the talk guidelines on this particular board.

And strangely, none of the regular posters on this thread have made any negative generalisations about trans people....

ditalini · 09/02/2023 17:33

Here's a helpful bit of info for those who are confused between DSDs and gender non-conformity.

Checking chromosomes used to be a first line test when people were referred to a gender clinic. Just like the amateur geneticists that abound on here, Twitter, Tiktok etc etc etc, it just felt "right" that these people's feelings of being a different sex should be somehow related to a chromosomal abnormality.

They don't do that testing any more and haven't for years because, guess what! The rate of DSDs in transpeople is exactly the same as in the general population.

So that one can come off the "hey checkmate Terfs!" ticklist.

picklemewalnuts · 09/02/2023 17:35

Do show me one. Come on. Someone who actually changed sex. Not their birth certificate or passport, sex!

I don't think name calling is in the spirit of the site, tbh.

You don't accept that some of us do not believe that humans can change sex. We are allowed to hold this belief, by law. It does not make us bigots. You are very very unkind.

ismu · 09/02/2023 17:43

Well, calling people pigeons and clowns appears to be ok, but not calling out bigots.

We've all gone very quiet on the Gala situation
