I thought this was a very interesting answer to the recent issue of RN.

Shout out to the vipers and their Mumsnet Feminism within!

I'm curious- what's a farage feminist? Same as a kjk feminist ie says she's not one?

Dunno really - get the feeling it’s been bandied about in certain small-group comms to denigrate those of us who don’t give two hoots about academia, just want to not see a penis in the ladies change at the swimming baths.

This attitude is ‘populist’ apparently.

And yes, KJK is probably the top wife in Nigel’s imaginary harem (the same poster called us ‘Shire Wives’)

ResisterRex · 07/02/2023 20:34

Seeing men in women's clothes now just looks too try-hard. It's hardly counter culture.

UpYaJumper · 07/02/2023 20:35

Thanks for sharing. I wasn’t even aware of these in-fights until very recently and I’m woefully ignorant of the inner goings on of feminist academia. But I agree with everything Maya says.

I was at the Ed4WomensLib conference at the weekend. I’ve never been to a feminist event before, but I am a school safeguarding lead who is worried about the mass safeguarding breach that is happening for our children in schools at the moment (and I damn well know what a woman is!).

At the conference I spoke to a wide range of people. A young woman who worked for women’s aid and was concerned about the assault on single sex spaces for abuse victims. A middle aged lesbian couple who were worried about the transing of children at their child’s school. A young lesbian scientist who was aghast at the erasure of lesbian spaces and the capture of the scientific/medical organisation she worked for. None of us had ever been to a feminist event, but we were all galvanised into action by different worries about the same issues.

That’s my feminism. Women of different backgrounds coming together to talk, support each other and make some kind of impact when we go back to our separate lives.

Baldieheid · 07/02/2023 20:35

Aaahhh that's the wife reference. That was gonna be q2.

I'm so fed up with academic snobs looking down their privileged noses at those of us who care more about the fight on the ground than the lofty heights of intellectualism.

There's a fucking man in my changing room. I don't care about your doctorate fucking thesis.

Baldieheid · 07/02/2023 20:36

Sorry, my response was to Shirewife.

Aah, if you accuse them of 'purity spirals' [even as they are the ones that claim others are not pure and are thus not feminist], then welcome to the Farage Feminist club. As apparently that's what we are.

TheWitchesAreBackInTown · 07/02/2023 20:43

I like Harry Styles but he looks like he's wearing a sequinned Mr Tumble outfit.

The point being I can mock him and not get hatred for it (except from his fans). If I mocked Sam Smith (words actually fail me so I can't*) every #bekind and TRA would assume it was because of his identity.

*All I could think was he looks like a a cross between a reddleman and a silky larvae 🐛

What a fab post. And it represents the experiences of the majority of women looking in horror at what's happening - to their children, in their work place, in government and on every bloody captured organisation, from the NHS to Marks and Spencer.

If we let women speak this would NOT be happening!

Well, I guess I'm a farage feminist then. Do I get a badge? Or maybe a flag? Is there a flag?

Can you crochet?

Baldieheid · 07/02/2023 20:56

I take it the dislike of Posie is for the same reasons? Because she's prepared to speak to those people that the academic snobs deem unclean, if she and they happen to have this issue in common?

Baldieheid · 07/02/2023 20:59

ShireWifeofNigelFarage · 07/02/2023 20:55

Can you crochet?

Why yes, I can. I'm also nifty with a sewing machine (profeshunal dressmaker).
I should make a flag, shouldn't I?

Can't steal the suffragette colours, those are already claimed.

Hmmm. Ponder ponder...

No stripes though. Stripes can feck right off.

nepeta · 07/02/2023 20:59

I couldn't care any less about a man wearing clothing deemed female in some culture, as long as he doesn't insist that this makes him female. In any case, I would like more colourful clothing to be worn my men and boys, just because black and dark blue gets boring after a while.

And I couldn't care less about someone's sexual kinks as long as they hurt nobody else and as long as they are not played out in public. Paraphilias are not like that and should not be out in the public, as they involve unwilling participants. And those who advocate for them being in public should be shamed for their views.

TheWitchesAreBackInTown · 07/02/2023 20:59

I must have missed some shenanigans. All these references to shire wives of Farage are from a recent thread?

They seem to have been triggered into...producing a 60 page quarterly all about [hating] her.

And made it free so that the plebs can all read it. #bekind

There's a thread all about it...the Radical Notion thread.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 07/02/2023 21:06

I sometimes think it is like the boy pointing out the Emperor is naked, then everyone falls about laughing. A large part of it is relief. Laughing because you don’t have to pretend that something utterly ridiculous is dignified and worthy of deference any more.

This.

I liked this one (seen at Posie’s Glasgow event).

Something like that. Posie speaks as she finds stuff and occasionally says stuff in ways that can be disingenuously interpreted.
I think they originally took against her when she said she didn’t think little girls should wear the hijab (a view shared by lots of Muslim women) but they were probably just looking for a concrete reason to push her out.
Mostly I suspect it’s because this particular group of women are still attached to the idea that when this is over they will be able to get back in with their trade union & Labour mates and carry on like this never happened, but other women being less pure in their associations is ruining their left wing dream.

I would imagine there is at least a tinge of jealousy at Posie’s popularity and ever growing media reach.
Of course the real reason Posie is popular is because she doesn’t speak over us, she literally hands us the mic and steps back, whereas they are too scared to centre us gittersnipes in case we say something a bit too whitevan(wo)man.

They also say we should share the word ‘woman’ and be grateful to retain ‘female’.

And they can cock right off with that because there are female children and female dogs and female plants in this house and women & girls deserve their own words.

Someone who considers themselves Mumsnet feminist royalty popped up in the Radical Notion thread to tell us all off in bizarre ways. It was a trip.

I don’t think we should send anyone over there to wade through pages and pages of us making Nigel Farage jokes!

also Endlesstea may have outed Caitlin Moran as a Morris Dancer.

I just sped through a few pages of the thread, so im beginning to grasp the complexities of the arguments, specifically regarding the intellectual purity of the oeuvre and the intersection conundrum, culminating in the deeply malevolent and ambient forces within which we all claim our own divinity.

Naaah, jest kidding. My eyes glazed over at one poster's posts so I came back here to say....I gettit now.

I'll get me crochet hooks.

Noice flag, darling. Black may well be the way to go.

But encouraging people to repress the tools of pattern recognition and risk appraisal, and cast-out those who don’t is how the gender ideology movement works. It make things unsayable and lowers people’s barriers. Men in women’s spaces should raise alarm. This is the practical truth that the thought-control and language-control has been trying to obscure.

Women need to be able to raise the alarm. We need to be able to say 'this man is a creep, stay away'. This is primal, it's always been a thing. Women and children, most at risk from predatory men (and all the predators are men) have to be able to discuss, risk assess, and name creeps.

The most damaging thing that genderism has done (and queering of social norms) is removing the ability of women and children to say 'there's a man with his dick out' or 'there's a man staring at me' or 'there's a man in my space'.
