Cant say I have heard of Radical Notion. They say:

THE RADICAL NOTION was founded in 2020 to create a space for the resurgent wave of feminist thinking and activism. This not-for-profit magazine is run by an all-women collective of radical and socialist feminists. We are committed to the materialist analysis of sex-based oppression, and to challenging the material and symbolic structures of male dominance. This moment is a historic opportunity to deepen and widen the analysis of all aspects of women’s political condition, and its foundational role in all systems of extraction and domination.

We welcome words and images from women of all nationalities, classes, ethnicities and backgrounds to illuminate the meaning of feminist politics in their lives, and to create a global picture of this political moment. Our current battle, and the social, political and environmental unravellings we see all around us are, at their root, crises of patriarchy. We want to seize this moment to speak that truth.

It seems quite expensive to subscribe but they have made this issue free to read online. A lot of it seems to be the ongoing antagonism (meaning the issues are real but seem to be motivated as much by personal fallouts) between radical feminist and socialist feminist gender critical women.

Some may remember this thread www.mumsnet.com/talk/womens_rights/4662757-womens-place-uk-filia-event-the-elephant-ignored-yet-again and the revelation that WPUK seems to now be linked to the group Actual Gender Critical Left, who endlessly snipe about Karin Dansky and KJK.

Anyhow posting in case anyone wants to have a read.

Still not sure why some women think in the day of virtual opportunites to talk directly to other women, they need to go down the routed of "publishing" as though their ideas are somehow special and shouldn't be submitted to the rough and tumble on online forums like this one!

I'm only here because I took a wrong turn on the internet (bloody woman you see head full of cotton wool instead of brains) at some point a few years ago. I've been looking for the exit ever since, but this place is like a maze.

Mumsnet is the internet equivalent of Hotel California Boiled - you can check out any time you like but you can never leave....

You will not be harmed.
You will not be released.

beastlyslumber · 16/03/2023 14:41

I'm only here because while I was eating my tea, an interdimensional wormhole opened underneath my cabbage and I fell through space and time until I landed here. Hit my head. Lost about six weeks.

ArabellaScott · 16/03/2023 15:57

I hate it when that happens.

Glad this thread was revived because I did not comment the first time 'round.

I subscribed to Radical Notion from the beginning-- I was so excited that my girl crush JCJ was doing this. I have other girl crushes: HJ, HS, SM... but I have admired JCJ since Annals of the Terf Wars. When I got this issue it opened on that KJK essay. I read a bit, and put it down. Have left it lying in the same position. Subscription lapsed. I'm ok with that.

I would like to say to JCJ "what the actual fuck?" but that would be performative, I'm told.

Boiledbeetle · 16/03/2023 17:52

@ILikeDungs meh, it's tea time, yet tea is not ready at my house. so you be as performative as you like love, because it was a very WTF moment reading that piece!

Not about the topic of this thread except in the sense that this was in the OP:

There are very good reasons to put someone's thoughts into one place where they can later be easily accessed by everyone. Online conversations usually go all over the place if they are longer than a couple of comments and it is hard work to shift through all the diversions etc. Also, it gets hard to pin any arguments on the person who made them if all the stuff is in Twitter comments etc.

But we should have both, i.e., people can write articles and then other people can discuss and critique those articles online.

Bloody Hell you are right, I went and said fuck. OMG I said fuck again. Fuck.

Helleofabore · 16/03/2023 18:36

Actually, in all honesty, I have yet to get a sensible answer to why posters who use language that denigrates the women posting on this board, who tone polices using denigrating and inflammatory language, who tell posters off for who they support or listen to, thereby trying to police who people listen to, who patronise and post negative generalisations about the board expect any type of positive engagement.

I do find it hilarious to be policed due to my use of the word 'fuck' as if I am trying to be a 'hard person', but it is illustrative of the kind of posts that do get a negative pushback where posters then, maybe even performatively, ask 'why did I get that negative pushback?'

And by the way, while I do use the word often. It is also that I use it in 'fuckwittery', or to say 'that is fucked'. In fact, I use it in probably less than 5% of my posts. So, if some posters wish to discount my posts because of the use of that term 5% of the time, have at it.

It says so much more about you than it does me.

The fact that a poster has pulled me up on the use of the word is remarkable in light of the post and the nature of that post that they came on today to respond to.
