Cant say I have heard of Radical Notion. They say:

THE RADICAL NOTION was founded in 2020 to create a space for the resurgent wave of feminist thinking and activism. This not-for-profit magazine is run by an all-women collective of radical and socialist feminists. We are committed to the materialist analysis of sex-based oppression, and to challenging the material and symbolic structures of male dominance. This moment is a historic opportunity to deepen and widen the analysis of all aspects of women’s political condition, and its foundational role in all systems of extraction and domination.

We welcome words and images from women of all nationalities, classes, ethnicities and backgrounds to illuminate the meaning of feminist politics in their lives, and to create a global picture of this political moment. Our current battle, and the social, political and environmental unravellings we see all around us are, at their root, crises of patriarchy. We want to seize this moment to speak that truth.

theradicalnotion.org/gender-critical-disputes/

It seems quite expensive to subscribe but they have made this issue free to read online. A lot of it seems to be the ongoing antagonism (meaning the issues are real but seem to be motivated as much by personal fallouts) between radical feminist and socialist feminist gender critical women.

Some may remember this thread www.mumsnet.com/talk/womens_rights/4662757-womens-place-uk-filia-event-the-elephant-ignored-yet-again and the revelation that WPUK seems to now be linked to the group Actual Gender Critical Left, who endlessly snipe about Karin Dansky and KJK.

Anyhow posting in case anyone wants to have a read.

Still not sure why some women think in the day of virtual opportunites to talk directly to other women, they need to go down the routed of "publishing" as though their ideas are somehow special and shouldn't be submitted to the rough and tumble on online forums like this one!

Time to start digging for another court case?

🤔

Winterborne74 · 09/02/2023 19:40

Oh for crying out loud!

Bosky · 09/02/2023 19:48

I don't know why Maya published on Medium anyway when she has got her own website and she can get all the traction she needs from posting links on Social Media.

I am only surprised that she lasted as long as she did. Medium is notorious for deleting accounts of gender critical writers.

It's as bad as Wordpress dot com for deleting blogs.

Boycott Medium!

Delphinium20 · 09/02/2023 19:49

Oh fuck you, Dale! I can't believe this!

RN, if you're reading, I hope you can say something about this - it's okay if we feminists disagree and even get feisty with one another, but I'm sure you all want us to have a voice...anyone who can should call this out...if there's time for a sisterhood, it's now.

Also, FUCK YOU, Medium, you're an American company and you're turning your back on our American values like freedom of the press, free speech, democracy and our First Amendment rights. Medium is hiding behind 'private companies can have policies' so it's not illegal, but for a publisher to engage in very illiberal censorship is really ugly.

Bosky · 09/02/2023 19:53

Maya's article moved to her own website now 💚💟💜

Maya thinks Medium banned her because she linked to the article "Pronouns are Rohypnol" on the Fair Play for Women website:

The layout and artwork is beautiful though!

Yes, completely agree. Should have mentioned that as well, @ShireWifeofNigelFarage

I have only ever seen this one copy as a downloadable PDF and I thought it looked horrible!

So much minuscule text crammed onto each page.

Either made for people with 20:20 vision / young eyes or by people who want/need to cut printing costs by minimising the number of pages.

I have had to explain to a few women who could not read it online that it might be easiest to download it and then open it in a PDF viewer and zoom in.

A "triumph" of form over function.

I thought it was stylish but yes, difficult to read!

The online viewer is rubbish on my phone. Frustrating. And yes, a nightmare for the visually impaired.

I do still like the aesthetic, despite how impractical it is overall!

I'm uncomfortable being led by feminists who think some trans identifying males are our "sisters". JCJ seems to think we have to pass an exam in feminist philosophy before we're allowed to act or speak on behalf of women's rights. I'd rather philosophically imperfect but effective action than the reverse.

That's a very polite way of saying she's talking shite.

I agree with you.

Pepvixen · 16/02/2023 02:42

Seeing rumours on Twitter that JCJ is in a relationship with a 'transwoman'. I wonder if this explains some of the material in this issue criticising women for expressing disgust over agp? It does strike me as a slightly strange argument. Disgust at public displays of a fetish is very common among feminists of most stripes.

BitterAndOnlySlightlyTwisted · 16/02/2023 08:32

Is this alleged transwoman an actual, real transwoman or an ontological one?

Winterborne74 · 16/02/2023 09:05

Twitter rumours about personal relationships are not relevant to the argument. We should play the ball (i.e. what she has written) rather than the man (personal stuff) in my opinion.

There are plenty of good reasons not to let our thoughts and actions be dictated by disgust I would think. However a strong emotional reaction against certain behaviours is a good reason to examine why. Make the instinctive response was entirely justified, maybe not.

Ameanstreakamilewide · 16/02/2023 11:44

I agree to an extent, @Winterborne74 , but she's a steaming great hypocrite if it's true.

pattihews · 16/02/2023 12:17

I understand your reluctance to get involved in gossip, and if JCJ was writing on another subject it would be irrelevant. But she writes about radical feminism and is critical of gender ideology. So actually her private life is relevant. There's a word for people who preach one thing and do another.

😂

EndlessTea · 16/02/2023 14:43

I can’t believe that my post was deleted.

Most people are disgusted by fetishes, not just feminists, but women and children the most. It is a sign of sexual dysfunction.

Bring back shaming and yucking someone else’s yum.

EndlessTea · 16/02/2023 14:45

Normal people’s sexuality is around mutual attraction, affection, passion and the instinctual urge to procreate. People that get off on anything else are creepy.

pattihews · 16/02/2023 16:45

Interesting that we're not now allowed to express distaste for fetishism without being censored.

beastlyslumber · 16/02/2023 17:00

God. Is this part of MN's new sex positivity (sell vibrators) drive? We're not allowed to not like creepy fetishes now?

nepeta · 16/02/2023 17:48

It is paraphilias which are problematic, especially the kinds which are acted out in public with non-consenting people being forced to witness them or even to participate. Flashes force the women/girls who see them to participate without their consent etc.

BlessedKali · 16/02/2023 20:40

My print copy of radical notion arrived today. I subscribed to a year not that long ago, flicked throigh and landed on 'feminism is not the same as femalism' - a direct reference to Kelly Jay-Keen.

I just can't be fucked to read a magazine that is undermining a woman who outs heraelf in danger and out on the streets to amplify women's voices.

If I had to pick a side I would 100% pick the side that includes all women from all backgrounds, all political parties, all classes. I want to hear every woman's words, and every woman's experiences.

To try to make feminism some special exclusive club seems so stupid.

What on earth was Jane thinking when she did this? How did she think this was beneficial to her magazine? To make it appeal to EVEN less people.

I am actually thinking of cancelling my subscription - has anyone done this?
