"Vulva owners" - Mumsnet HQ-endorsed company thinks that's all we are.

How do you feel about this?

Mumsnet HQ have teamed up with a vibrator company who, quite proudly, declared us "vulva owners". I'm just SO glad that's all I am, and not that dirty word "woman". I'm just a "vulva-owner".

I wonder if that's how Mumsnet HQ sees us too? (the company happily declare it in the comments under the "I feel like this could also work for non-moms" comment.

I wonder if this was written by AI? Can anyone parse this for me - the baby of taboo-breaking work with mothers - I would be happy for a diagram of the sentence if necessary. What is taboo-breaking work? What does the word baby signify in this phrase?

Chrysanthemum5 · 04/02/2023 09:26

Why do mothers need a different, specially designed vibrator anyway? Are they implying our genitals are not normal?

However very odd that Mumsnet thinks it users are just walking vulvas

I'm glad it's not just me who didn't understand that sentence either...

I honestly don’t know what possessed MNHQ to be involved with this fucking disaster of a ‘promotion’.

Badly done, MN. Badly done.

twitterexile · 04/02/2023 09:33

Shameful in fact.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 04/02/2023 09:39

There's a huge thread about this in Site Stuff.

mach2 · 04/02/2023 09:48

All it needs is Dylan Mulvaney to complete the set.

theDudesmummy · 04/02/2023 09:53

WTF is taboo-breaking work?

Slothtoes · 04/02/2023 09:55

You’re quite right OP. It’s gathered at least a couple of threads already now so that’s a fair few MNers that also feel this way .

Shouldn't it be a clitoris-haver anyway
(missing the point which I of course agree with)?

Boiledbeetle · 04/02/2023 09:57

Vulva owners wanting to reconnect.

Oh hi Mary, long time no see, fancy a cuppa! What you been up to? Kids OK? Did you hear about Sheila at No 12...

That's not what they mean though is it!

AutumnCrow · 04/02/2023 09:59

I am imagining some work-experience kid mixing up 'uterus' with 'clitoris'.

And the rest, as they say, is hysteria ...

Pissed off.

There's an AIBU thread on it as well.

Anyone seen 'Emily in Paris'? I could swear that this creep has modelled himself on Lily Collins.

nilsmousehammer · 04/02/2023 10:07

One careful lady driver....

I did enjoy the bit when it was 'people with wombs' since I cannot imagine how your womb gets involved with a vibrator. Or that post hysterectomy women cease to enjoy a bit of careful lady driving.

DangerNoodles · 04/02/2023 10:08

I'm really surprised Mumsnet took the promotion on. We don't need a special vibrator just because we are Mums, in the same way straight women don't have to swap sexual partners once they become mums. It's actually quite offensive really.

Dont get me started on 'vulva owners', they can fuck right off with that, the word they are looking for is WOMEN!

ArcticSkewer · 04/02/2023 10:10

The orgasm gap explained in one sentence.

It's the clitoris, guys.

YouJustDoYou · 04/02/2023 10:29

Hello LADIES (used the word deliberately) - Are we allowed to sell on here?

One "vulva owner" who wishes to sell; Not sure what price to start at, how much is a fleshlight? Will take next best offer, but maybe start bidding at £10? One careful owner.
Not too much mileage.
Shows signs of wear and tear.

Selling as need money.

This!

It’s very telling how much of the vocabulary created by trans lobbyists is all about the male gaze. The trans activists see holes, but they don’t understand or care about the clitoris.

To real women the clitoris is actually a big frickin deal.

As a post-hysterectomy woman, the whole trend of dividing people by whether or not they have a womb is something I feel marginalised by. It is irrelevant to categorise me amongst 'non womb-havers' when that obviously includes 'people who have never had a womb'.

taracetamol · 04/02/2023 11:27

Maybe they meant Volvo owners.
