"Experts" say MTF womb transplants only a few years away?

Fertility "experts" seem to think a uterus is just a "plug n play" organ that just needs wired in.
What about the cascade of ever changing hormones at the right time in a pregnancy to sustain the foetus?

Never going to happen.

Even if it WERE possible, what about the ethical considerations for the child?
Safety of potential foetuses?

If this actually ever happens I think it's time to start praying for the asteroid.

Perhaps they think transmen will "donate" them? Be happy to get rid...along with their breasts.

A last grand gesture to 'be kind' before they magically become men!

I like your thinking!

But then it seems a lot of transmen want to keep their non-manly bits so they can have a baby for themselves anyway...

Presumably it would need testing on animals first

Does anyone remember that repulsive experiment they did to get a male rat (or maybe it was a mouse) pregnant...they had to stitch the male and a female together at the belly 🤮

It came up on a previous uterus implant thread.

yes. It was very distressing to read. I think it involved killing one female rat first and then attaching a second to the male.

And people celebrated it as some kind of sick success.

I've just seen that two posters linked to it on the first page.

Yes, it is distressing. Evil and completely unnecessary.

Grotesque

Brokendaughter · 03/02/2023 15:01

This plan for men to harvest body parts from women seems to forget about the entire biology women have outside of that one small body part, which is also required for a healthy child to come to term.

This research being permitted anywhere in the world is the reason I have removed myself & my child from the organ donor list.
I am not the only woman who isn't willing to be used in such immoral research.

People will die for lack of organs just so some transpeople can talk about the potential to have their fantasies validated (except they can't, because a womb isn't a tupperware box you can move from one shelf (body) to the next, it requires the rest of a womans body to do it's job).

HorribleNecktie · 03/02/2023 15:08

I’ve also removed myself from the organ donation list because of this.

guinnessguzzler · 03/02/2023 15:13

Anything we can do, men can do better. Right?!

Soubriquet · 03/02/2023 15:16

No way can it work without a shit ton of artificial hormones.

Which can’t be ethical for a baby.

Im an organ donor, but I’m gonna change mine to not donate my uterus

onedayiwillmissthis · 03/02/2023 15:19

The arrogance & entitlement of men who rent women's wombs for surrogacy unfortunately evidences the financial desperation some women are in.

So? I guess some poor women will be found to sell the actual womb...after all if "you're" that destitue "you" shouldn't be having babies anyway?

Already happening for other body parts globally Sad

BasilParsley · 03/02/2023 14:42

Where would they get the uteri from? Will they be artificial ones or plucked straight from a still-warm dead adult human female body?

There is a ‘doctor’ in Oslo who thinks that women in a coma could be used as surrogate ‘mothers’ , that is ,incubators.

Really, it is not a joke.

ShimmeringShirts · 03/02/2023 15:28

As organ donation is now opt out instead of opt in, when filling out the form to opt out you’re given the choice to only opt out of certain organs. I made clear my womb, ovaries etc were off limits, I would only consent to my main organs being used (bar my eyes. Freaks me the heck out that someone someday may walk about with my eyes). I’d suggest everyone follow suit if this is the way “science” is heading.

I think it was DEAD women she was suggesting could be used as incubators, Allthegoodnames ?

Beamur · 03/02/2023 15:38

I have added no reproductive tissue of any kind to be used or donated to my organ donation register.
There has been a live birth from a womb transplant within the last few years, without looking it up, I think it was from a mother to her daughter and was only for the duration of the pregnancy and was removed afterwards.
I can't imagine that was an easy pregnancy. But they were very closely matched types due to being related presumably.

Brain dead women, i.e. women in a persistent vegetative state with no expectation of recovery. This reaction to the doctor's proposal (which does not appear to be modest in any way) sticks in the mind.

Why should their wombs be going to waste? Women apparently exist on this planet to be a resource to be farmed.

2bazookas · 03/02/2023 16:08

I think its a great idea. Will they want a donor womb plumbed in with a starter-foetus already included? Or perhaps they only want to experience menstruation, getting to grips with Tampax and PMT. How about smear tests?

Do neovaginas even have a cervix, and will it dilate ?

Pity I gave away such a valuable organ for free when I could have sold it.
( one careful lady owner, large capacity, excellent milage, full service history).

Spanielsarepainless · 03/02/2023 16:11

I opted out of the organ harvesting when it was no longer donation but bodysnatching by the government. But in any case mine must be the size of a raisin by now.

DOBARDAN · 03/02/2023 16:18

A repulsive and, surely, impossible scenario on many levels…
As a previous poster said, I would be opting out of organ donation, for fear my uterus could be used in such a way.
It makes you wonder where they are thinking of getting fresh and healthy female organs from,
Maybe the young girls who wish to opt out of womanhood could go in for double mastectomies and also be persuaded to donate their wombs too…

NeighbourhoodWatchPotholeDivision · 03/02/2023 16:19

InterestingUsernameTBC · 03/02/2023 14:43

When they did experiments in mice they had to stitch a whole, live, pregnant female mouse to the male in order for him to parasitically use her hormonal environment to sustain his pregnancy. Amazingly, they did get viable foetuses that were able to develop right through to adulthood.

bioedge.org/uncategorized/male-mice-give-birth-in-bizarre-chinese-experiment/

Hardly any though. When I ran the percentages of how many baby rats survived till birth on another thread, it was tiny. And then, of those rats born, more simply died in the first few hours after birth.

NeighbourhoodWatchPotholeDivision · 03/02/2023 16:41

They had 46 'pairs' of rats and a total of 562 embryos were transferred to female halves and 280 to the males.A total of 169 (30%) of embryos had developed normally in the native uteruses of females, whereas only 27 (9%) had developed normally in the grafted uteruses of males. At term just ten pups survived after being delivered from the male uterus but they had no long term health issues. The other 17 pups born died on the first day.

NeighbourhoodWatchPotholeDivision · 03/02/2023 16:47

10 rats from 280 embryos is a success rate of 3.5%

Moreover, just look at the death rate after birth. Nearly two-thirds dead. This experiment should not have been done on animals, and it must never be done on humans.

Bloody hell, that's a grim idea (or as the DM quite accurately puts it the outrageously controversial concept floated by one philosopher.

(Not sure that using conscious women's bodies as mere gestators is that much better tbh but that's another discussion)

StephanieSuperpowers · 03/02/2023 16:57

Clearly, the experts making these claims are just opportunists in a very crowded market, gaining publicity for their outlandish statements. But they're making them in the context where we're asked to believe that men have already given birth, transmen are men, as we all know. So the idea that it could happen already exists in people's minds.

It is nonsense, though. However, if you're a shameless self promoter (and they exist in medical research as in every other field), it's a good way of getting your name out there.

Kissedbyfire1 · 03/02/2023 17:12

SleekMamma · 03/02/2023 14:53

Right enough, isn't there stats showing that organ donation works better between the same sex. That fascinated me. At a chromeosome level the body knows what's alien. No way could a male body successfully gestate a baby.
The whole concept is utterly repulsive

And blood donation too I believe - men should be given the blood of other men if at all possible (happy to be challenged on this, I am not a scientist but think I’ve read it).

Has no one pointed out to Irma Grese there Anna Smajdor, that she could maybe take a couple of bits of skin and use it to bind books, or make lampshades out of, while she's at it! Saves it going to waste, after all!
I wonder, did she have an uncle Josef at all? :-/

Scum!
