T7ump has come out against the TRA mania. The fucking stupid Democrats have handed this to him on a fucking plate because they are too cowardly to face down the TRA maniacs in the party.
The house is on fire. And they won't fucking help. But that bastard will.
Jesus Fucking Christ I am so angry and disappointed.

I know. People look on in slack jawed amazement that people vote for this arse and blame it all on right wing extremists. Nope. Right wing extremists are a small part of his demographic. The Democrats have to stop lying to themselves and realise their policies are the reason he is so popular.

bellinisurge · 01/02/2023 22:59

I have family in US. I was there last summer and we discussed this. They didn't like the way I was talking about a delicate and fragile minority - daring to mention rapists in the same discussion. We stopped discussing it. Interested to see what they say about this. And then can tell them all about how the house of cards is tumbling in Scotland.

Gonna say, avoiding typing his name comes off as a bit ... Extreme? You are aware we are transforming the code into his name anyway. Making a puzzle out of it doesn't make it any less triggering to those who are trying to avoid the reality of his existence.

Tukmgru · 01/02/2023 23:09

Anyone that votes for trump hates women. I’m sorry but it’s fucking insane to back the guy who effectively overturned Roe v Wade through his Supreme Court choices, not to mention his lechery and his validation of every incel and woman hating community across America.

If you don’t like the democrats because of what they say on trans stuff then fine. But fuck you if you vote for trump based on it.

ANameChangePresents · 01/02/2023 23:09

(total aside of course. I've had some wine sorry for any snarkiness that may have permeated through - allow me to engage with the substance of your point to be more fair)

I'm not sure how I feel about this. I do have a gut reaction of 'bugger - this is going to lose the moderates' as he's been made anathema to them. That's particularly annoying as it's the moderates we need to win.

However, perhaps there's a stalking horse thing at play here, where him being so brazen about what the issues are makes this a talking point for more moderate Republicans. There needs to be some political will to stop this social contagion. Where it originates, I don't care. We don't have to take the whole person and their entire philosophy to take this one point. Chopping up kids who aren't even considered mentally developed enough to smoke is wrong.

ANameChangePresents · 01/02/2023 23:12

(correction on reread: 'is anathema' would be more apt than 'made'. That implies outside agency. He tied his own rope.)

But then anyone who votes for the democrats also hates women. That is obvious. So who would you like American women to vote for?

I think that’s a really interesting point, @ANameChangePresents.

De Santis has been on this since at least October and now it’s ‘out there’ for open discussion. In fact it’s going to look weird if Republicans don’t discuss it.

What the Democrats will do, who knows. They have fucked this up so badly, it’s almost unbelievable. Absolute cowards at the top.

Maybe Trump dragging ‘Big Pharma’ and the prospect of law suits into it will rattle some gilded cages.

bellinisurge · 02/02/2023 06:59

Thanks for the overnight snark and cussing.
I'm not in the US. I'm not a citizen although I have close family who are. They are either registered independents or registered Democrats (don't get me started on the registered thing).
They are all, understandably, NeverTrump -ers.
But a couple of a cousin's friends voted for him in 2016 the same way many people voted for Brexit here - a kind of "why not give it a shot" and "he's said a couple of things I agree with". They were also NeverHillary.
The only way to keep a Republican out of the White House is to get the vote out. If the Republican candidate (whoever it is) latches onto this, a lot of people will switch to them or stay home. This is also Starmer's problem. Democrats and Left/Liberals need to get their shit together or people will walk or just look the other way.

Exactly.

Vote Republican and women vote for lack of abortion choice, etc.

Vote Democrat, and women vote for forcing women to compete and share changing rooms with women, cover up boys raping girls like in Louden County, and allowing gross parodies like Dylan Mulvaney an audience with the President.

Talk about Sophie’s Choice.

bellinisurge · 02/02/2023 07:29

@NotBadConsidering which means, like here probably, people won't get out and vote.
Volume of anti-T Democrat voters was Joe Biden got in. Those numbers won't be there this time if Democrats don't get their shit together.

I do not understand why the parties that traditionally identify as woman-friendly have just left themselves wide-open to attack on this front.

Is it the same denial that leads them to think a rapist facing conviction would never claim.to be trans in order to serve his time in a women's prison? Do they think the likes of Trump really care that much about being called "transphobic"?

bellinisurge · 02/02/2023 07:32

It's harder for women to organise in US than it is here. Local and state stuff on this can get overtaken by evangelical Christian idiots. And women who believe in biology but who are also socially liberal on things like abortion and equal marriage are very spread out.

OP posts:
bellinisurge · 02/02/2023 07:35

As Sturgeon is finding out calling people transphobic for believing in single sex spaces will lose you support.
Hillary Clinton called Tump voters "deplorables" and that pushed a lot of people to him or away from her.
Disrespecting voters is a vote loser.

OP posts:
NotBadConsidering · 02/02/2023 07:56

Exactly. Look at the demographics.

If you’re a female college athlete, after Lia Thomas why would you vote Democrat? Those voters have been insulted by all those Democrats telling them they’re bigots for wanting fair competition.

If you’re in Loudoun County, or anywhere in Virginia for that matter, and you see a father being arrested after protesting the enablers of his daughter’s rape, why would you vote Democrat? Who would be surprised if Virginia swings red in 2024? That’s 13 electoral college votes. If Georgia swings back too given how tight it was, that’s 273 (D) vs 269 (R). It’s not too much to imagine that the horrific handling of that case along could automatically make the election tight.

bellinisurge · 02/02/2023 08:26

Don't forget all the quite dangerous physical hassle Kellie-Jay Keen got. Telling someone they are a bigot for wanting their daughter to get a college scholarship or to be safe from rapists isn't a vote winner. Having a bunch of masked thugs and AGPs on your side (and being to scared to condemn them) is not a vote winner.

You'd thinking being scared of people on your own side would give them a fecking clue but no.

Hey ho.

Baldieheid · 02/02/2023 08:37

I think women in many formerly advanced countries are stuck between a rock and a hard place. Rights being obliterated by males, no matter which political wing is on the up.

I'm so fucking sick of men, in dresses or suits, deciding my rights for me.

FatSealSmugSoup · 02/02/2023 08:44

My friend in Connecticut claims the moral high ground by being loudly democrat supporting.

otoh she got top surgery for her 15 year old and is now loudly campaigning because other states are saying “hang on, wait” and teen trans suicide rates blah.

it’s all a mighty fine pickle, but doesn’t a left/right wing in the White House lead to the other arm controlling the senate? (My terms may be mixed politically, but I know a woman when I see one. )

NotBadConsidering · 02/02/2023 08:53

No, nothing is a given. All permutations are possible: D/R in White House, D/R Senate majority, D/R Congress majority. In the Senate the VP has deciding vote so often favours the White House, but all possibilities can change with each election and each mid term. Look at the recent midterms. Pelosi was Speaker of the House until the midterms, now it’s McCarthy after a record number of rounds of voting.

Women’s rights loss from gender ideology is mainly due to the Obama administration making gender supersede sex for Title IX.

bellinisurge · 02/02/2023 09:17

@FatSealSmugSoup , I hope your friend's daughter is ok. If I had enabled my 15 year to get a double mastectomy because she's uncomfortable with female puberty, I'd be very concerned about what I had done to her.

I was just coming on to post about this.

It's not surprising at all and a good political move by Trump. Desantis has been pushing back on this already but Trump has seized this momentum and stated he would challenge it nationally at all levels.

Good. It's being said at last.

That's how Trump succeeds, he seizes on whatever other politicians won't talk about and does it brazenly.
He forces topics out into the open.

I think this will force Desantis into upping his position on this and it will make it central to the republican primaries.

The democrats will ignore and stick to their absurd position for this cycle but will be seeing the writing is on the wall on this now it's being publicly debated.

FatSealSmugSoup · 02/02/2023 11:33

@bellinisurge your definition of “ok” is probably the same as mine. 😔

smileladiesplease · 02/02/2023 11:47

FatSeal

I would cut contact with a friend who did this.

I have American relatives and will ask them their views. Me I would vote republican over this. Trump has made a very clever move.
