Ah weaponising. Such a useful word, isn't it? Like dogwhistle.

Meaning 'shut up, what you're saying is devastating to my agenda'. And 'I'd rather not face the reality of what I'm enabling to happen to women'.

unutterably fucking offensive.

Findlay calling for an investigation.

Ah okay and Findlay's amendment was calling for Sturgeon to give the statement rather than her Justice Sec.

Thanks for this Arabella.

ArabellaScott · 31/01/2023 16:21

You're welcome, RedShoe. Sorry it's a bit backwrds, I couldn't quite work out what was going on!

Oh, I see one of the 'decapitate terfs' politicians was up talking about something. How the fuck are they still in jobs?

I wonder which women's concerns Maggie Chapman would actually consider worthy of raising if rape isn't one of them?

And, who are the "certain individuals" that she thinks are talking about rape with ulterior motives?

I have to say, I wasn't reassured by that debate at all.

AmaryllisNightAndDay · 31/01/2023 16:25

Listening to Keith Brown's speech, I am starting to get get pissed off with the emphasis on "crimes against women" for decision making. Any kind of physically aggressive crime against either sex, surely, because physically aggressive men are a danger to women and very likely to intimidate or attack women, whether they were convicted of aggression specifically against women or not. When they're surrounded by women instead of bigger nastier blokes why wouldn't they get physical?

This constant minimising gets up my nose! Heels dug in, one teeny reluctant concession at a time, if they weren't actually convicted of attacking a woman then no problem at all...

The bigger point being that there shouldn't be any males at all.

MoirasSaggyBundles · 31/01/2023 16:27

Just catching up with this now. Absolute bunch of fucking bastards. I'm not sure any one of those speaking (until Pam Gosal) referred specifically to women or women prisoners and their safety and wellbeing. Plenty of assurance given specifically to the trans prisoner and prison staff.

Keith Brown can't answer a straight question. Didn't answer Pam Gosal's question about what he knew. Didn't answer the subsequent question about female prison officers being forced to search trans women. Didn't answer the next question about how many female prisoners were consulted (why doesn't he have this information to hand when he knows he's being questioned on this matter?).

He's a slippery snake-weasel. That's an identity. Pronouns: fucking/wanker.

it's almost impressive just how extreme she is.

I have just read the MurrayBlackburnMackenzie thread on Twitter. CHILLING. The SPS policy was basically written by the Trans Alliance with NO women's groups consulted.

What’s more interesting is how it looks like the the SPS was deliberately targeted so it could be used as an example for other institutions to emulate. How did they get away with not consulting woman's groups is incredible, especially because this process has being going on for years.

nilsmousehammer · 31/01/2023 15:28

If the policy's fine and working fine and everything's fine (twitch) then wtf did Sturgeon block Bryson from the women's prison instead of say this is our policy, it's fine, we're happy with it and we're doing it? (Vote for us and for happy outcomes for sex offenders!)

If she's refused to attend parliament then the rumours she's gone full bunker would appear to have credence.

Does she have a German Shepard?

How the fuck can the goxvernment go on strike from parliament to support the strikes?

The Greens are part of the government ffs.

Also, stop giving away all the money to trans charities and pay the teachers!

Quite.

even if they weren’t the government - and they are - their job as MSPs would be to turn up in parliament and challenge the government. That’s how you, as an elected representative, support striking workers.

It’s a shame chapman don’t stay at home though. ‘Weaponising these crimes’ is just such a misjudged statement.

They are crimes. Violent crimes. Against women. The only person weaponising anything there is the rapist.

It does not harm the victims - or any potential victims of the same kind of crime - to use the case to draw a clear line that men convicted of rape must not be housed in women’s prisons. No matter how they might want the world to view them.

It does absolutely no societal harm at all to draw that line. Trying to prevent it being drawn, OTOH… well done Maggie.

That’s the second extremely poorly judged use of ‘weaponising’ from her related to GRR. Clearly she’s so used to throwing terms like that around to silence her critics. It’s incredibly offensive when she does it.

OohILoveItWhenYouDoItLikeThat · 31/01/2023 17:21

Are they unaware this all make them look like a bunch of actual psychopaths?

Hepwo · 31/01/2023 17:23

She's being fed these hideous lines by her trans masters. All these politicians have trans groups working their mouths. Even yesterday Sturgeon said that they had to move the rapist because it was negatively impacting the trans community.

None of them are reacting to what the public are saying, they are reacting to what their trans lobbyists are telling them.

That's why it's all so disconnected.

But they spoke to lots of women.

Shame they were all male women

MrsTerryPratchett · 31/01/2023 18:07

The irony of all this talk of 'weaponising' rapists is that the whole point is that their weapon is a penis. Literally the actual point we're making is not to allow someone who has used their penis AS A LITERAL WEAPON against women into a locked facility where the women can't get away.

It's not us weaponising penises, it's rapists.

How can such a supposedly small minority have such a big influence and why are NS and so many others so seemingly indoctrinated?
