Elite sports people speaking up!

There seems to be an increasing number of sports people speaking up about the problem of males completing in women's sports which is positive. Thought it might be useful to have a thread of those who are risking sticking their heads above the parapet. Obviously the likes of Sharon Davies, Mara Yamauchi and Martina Navratilova have been bravely doing this for sometime but now we appear to have a few current athletes as well who are prepared to risk the mob to ensure women have fair competition. Is it too much to hope for that there will be a snowball effect?

Brilliant - but shameful and bloody tedious that so many sports organisations were happy to hand over women's sport to men.

Stephanie Turner ❤️ took a knee in protest rather than face Redmond Sullivan, a biological male who competes in the women’s division, at the Cherry Blossom, a competition held last weekend at the University of Maryland.

Abbie Wilson 💚

"Female disc golfer Abbie Wilson walked off the course during the Music City Open in Nashville to protest a MAN who was allowed to compete against her in the WOMEN's division. "Females must be protected in our division, this is unfair, I refuse to play." Good for her! This insanity must end!"

Good for her, taking a brave, principled stand. I have to wonder about the efficacy of Trump's executive order; with the fencing debacle too. Has it been challenging in court? I haven't seen anything.

Article in the Telegraph re. fencing

The people in charge really are fencers, in every sense of the word. Helping thieves with their stolen loot and putting up barriers to people who want fair sport.

The English hockey governing body (England Hockey) are being sued to force them to permit men and testosterone doping women to compete in the female category. Well done England Hockey for standing up to this nonsense.

Transgender trio to challenge England Hockey ban in 'landmark legal case' hopes - The Hockey Paper

Three transgender athletes are preparing to file a legal complaint against England Hockey over its decision to ban trans women from competing in the female category from next season. The case, led by Rachel Saunders who plays for Boots HC, could set a...

“There appears to be a lot of grassroots concern over the new female/open category as numerous men I have spoken to feel their identities are being erased in the rush to create the open category,” said Saunders.

They have got to be trolling us, right?

Another court case, eh?

“If I can’t play hockey, that’s it. I can’t play sport,” she told PinkNews. “I lose the social side, I lose my fitness and being able to partake in a team.”

Bollocks. Rachel’s hockey club has a mixed team - I’m sure they’d be very welcoming to Rachel in the spirit of ‘fair and respectful competition’.

Yes - that's always the case isn't it? Mixed teams and men's teams usually available but taking a place from a woman on a woman's team is what is desired.

This is the consequence of never saying no to men who claim to be women. They demonstrate zero understanding of women and girl's rights and boundaries. Hence the recent trashing of women's sports.

Well done hockey for finally recognising biology, science and facts.

BundleBoogie · 14/04/2025 13:21

Well done the England Hockey! I think it was a hockey game in America where a girl had her teeth smashed out by a male player whacking the ball into her face?

I have seen the severity of injuries from girls against girls - to introduce a man’s power and reach is murderous.

I wonder how many women Saunders has injured over the years.

SinnerBoy · 14/04/2025 13:21

The men they've spoken to, eh? Did they accidentally say the quiet part out loud?

Or do they exist in the same sub-parallel universe as Tatchell's dainty little TW footballer, who's always being smashed by nasty female ogres, d'you think?

ChateauMargaux · 14/04/2025 15:08

I hope England hockey have some strong Gender Critical Voices in their team. They took a long time to come round to the decision that they should implement the Sports Council guidance, and there are some difficult clauses in their rules. In my opinion, their hesitancy was based on fear. It would be nice to see someone with a large voice to weigh in to support them.

Yes, where is this mythical ‘dainty’ male footballer? All the male footballers/rugby players inserting themselves into the women’s game have been 6’ plus or hefty middle aged units- who are obviously enormously gratified that they can play with women who are half their age. Male advantage much??

Bluebootsgreenboots · 14/04/2025 18:02

Well don’t hold your breath for the court case - the TiMs want to crowd fund £100,000 to start. I’d be surprised if they even make it to a tenth of that.

Open is mens, effectively. And that's fine; doesn't it happen in plenty of sports, a women's category, and men's (or Open) category, which women are free to enter if they wish? Pool, snooker, darts (?), golf (?), chess (?).

Badminton has open and Women's categories now.
Again, I think it does not apply right down to grassroots level, so still women are being disadvantaged at the lowest levels (ones which apparently don't matter) but at least there has been some movement in the right direction.

This has a happy ending for Natalie Daniels but it is chilling. Obviously in the USA but I wonder if the SC judgement and wording will impact the marathons.
