Elite sports people speaking up!

There seems to be an increasing number of sports people speaking up about the problem of males completing in women's sports which is positive. Thought it might be useful to have a thread of those who are risking sticking their heads above the parapet. Obviously the likes of Sharon Davies, Mara Yamauchi and Martina Navratilova have been bravely doing this for sometime but now we appear to have a few current athletes as well who are prepared to risk the mob to ensure women have fair competition. Is it too much to hope for that there will be a snowball effect?

As has Boris Becker. Not sure if he has commented on this previously?

“2GB's Ben Fordham previously revealed that six of the team's victories came as a result of the opposition team forfeiting, including the two semi-final fixtures that led to their progress to the final.

Earlier this year, it was reported that sports governing bodies had told clubs that they would be punished if they forfeited their games against the Bats.

'Remember, it's a women's competition and they have five [transgender] players, and we have some people trying to say "it doesn't make a difference", really?' he said on Thursday morning's show.

Zelic, a vocal critic of the team, responded to their successful season, labelling it a 'crime against women'.

'I think that's a real crime against women here... it's quite disgraceful,' she said.

'The fact that these women have been rendered voiceless in this and if they do have a voice they are being punished for it, it is something that needs to be explored very deeply.

'Imagine having to do that as well? To reach the knockout stages of the competition... it takes some real courage in this situation to stand up and say "no, we're not going to play". Both Putney Rangers and Macquarie Dragons should be commended for that.'

Zelic then pointed the finger out the governing bodies for what she claimed was a dereliction of duty.
'The people I hold accountable here, that I consider the most villainous are the national sporting organisations, the ones who haven't yet acted to introduce policies to protect women and girls who are the real culprits and are responsible for allowing this circus act to continue,' she added.

'These are the people we really need to bring to the fore here and ask them for answers. I want to know "why don't these women's voices matter?" it's just not right.'

Last paragraph of that article:
'Congratulations to the Flying Bats Soccer Club who recently won the Beryl Ackroyd Cup! (And to all the transphobes complaining, we suggest you train a bit harder).'

A mediocre male can go a long way in women's football. Must be quite the buzz.

Golf, this one seems particularly vile

Good on the woman speaking up and the other tw, who acknowledges their hypocrisy. The Telegraph seems to avoid wrong sex pronouns for Baggers while pandering to the cheat.

Thanks Cake

I always remember watching a webinar with Emma Hilton and others where they went through the advantages that male people
have with Mianne Bagger. And Mianne was convinced by the science and has been supporting women in speaking out ever since.

I believe that Mianne was instrumental in getting the golf federation to make the changes in the first place, and regrets this. Davidson has been repeating the tropish sentences about no advantage now for months. Well done the women competing for speaking out.

WarningToTheCurious · 27/08/2024 11:43

However, Davidson, who almost qualified for the US Women’s Open in June, is unapologetic and has recently lashed out at the detractors. “I will never understand athletes who blame a transgender competitor on their own athletic failures,” Davidson wrote on Instagram. “If you don’t take accountability for your failures then you will never actually be good enough to make it.”

Says the male who couldn’t cut it in the male division?

It’s great when people publicly u-turn like this. Makes all the campaigning and speaking out worthwhile.

Bagger said in 2022. “I still think there could be access for transitioned women to women’s sport… [but] I just don’t agree with the current, softened policies that are requiring less and less medical intervention of a male-bodied person entering women’s sport.”

Well I suppose if they have their heart made smaller, their lungs reduced, their q angle altered, their muscle structure and bone strength changed, their height to wingspan altered, their hormones messed about with until they are greater risk of injury for 1 week in 4 and the 100s of other differences between male and female bodies changed they could have a case but as that is never going to happen.....

I wonder if FIFA is ever going to canvas female athlete’s voices on this?

I suspect that unless women write to FIFA and their own country’s football associations, this supposed review FIFA is doing will just keep allowing these male people to play. I hold no confidence that they will.

Lucy Clark seems to be saying they couldn’t find a female goal keeper in budget so they had no other option than to hire a man…

That 'train a bit harder' jibe popped into my head when I was taking part in the discussions about Imane Khélif.

I did a lot of reading around the issue, and by chance found an interview with one of the women who had beaten IK in the past, Amy Broadhurst. Her preferred weight is 60kg, and it was at that weight she beat IK.

They both stepped up to the 66kg category; Amy struggled to maintain fitness while putting on the extra 6kg, and has returned successfully to 60kg.
Khelif put on 6kg of muscle, and won a gold medal at 66kg.

You can be sure that Amy Broadhurst trained every bit as hard as Imane Khelif, but not having been through male puberty, the result of 'training harder' was never going to be the same for a female body:

Well, he's talking complete bollocks, because they had a woman goalkeeper and they sacked her, to use matey boy instead.

The sooner ‘Lucy’ replaces the entire women’s team with men-with-lady-names the better really. The only way for this madness to end is for the absurdity factor to reach fever pitch (pun intended).

I wonder if we could talk Andy Murray into a tennis comeback rebranded as Andrea Murray?

I keep think the absurdity of it all will make it end but things just keep get progressively more absurd and the trans train just keeps rolling on.
