I can't figure out what a furry is. Is it like comic con or is it a fetish?

My cousin is a lecturer at a northern uni and there's someone who (literally and seriously) identifies as a cat on one of her courses. They don't dress up in a mascot-type costume though. Are they a furry, or is that something different?

It can be both. Some fetishise it, some don't. But its basically people dressing up in firsuits and adopting a 'fursona'.

Could be a furry, more likely ‘Otherkin’ (there is overlap but furries are mostly middle aged men and older teen boys).

I thought nobody was going to turn up because while the UK is TERF Island there are actually only 6 TERFs & parliament & the media are being influenced by lots of social media bots in a Sinister Plot. Makes you wonder why they feel the need to redirect these non-existent people 🤨

Perhaps the furries found out about the Actual Fascism & thought they should go & protest that rather than shout at women? (Oh, ok, sorry, just saw the bit about Forbidden Planet. They’ll all be spending their pocket money…)
