Boobless, that spells out how I feel exactly. It's such a difficult thing to go through, I would never ever want a healthy person to do it. Mine was 9 years ago, and I still have nerve damage to my arms.

Was this the brand that Kate Moss now says abused /took advantage of her as a young woman (got her to pose topless when she didn’t want to)?

Brands being abusive?

They aren't wearing any clothes so it seems a bit pointless

AlisonDonut · 26/01/2023 09:04

'Just a scar'.

Good lord. These poor girls.

Rightsraptor · 26/01/2023 09:13

It's a long time since Burberry were considered up-market and classy.

They've just found new depths to plumb.

PoliticalFootball · 26/01/2023 09:32

That's Campbell King and Mia Maxwell. Mates of Travis Albanza and the Graphic Designer Aries Moross (formerly Kate). I think you will all get called 'haterz'. I think Campbell and Aries got their double mastectomies around the same time. I'm thinking Burberry feels it's tapping in to the Zeitgeist. Mumsnet is definitely not their target market anymore which is daft as I'm sure not many young people can afford them. I think they're doing all they can to be edgy and lose their 'Essex' credentials.

BeBraveLittlePenguin · 26/01/2023 09:41

No idea what the model looks like front on, but from the side 'he' is remarkably plain. It can't be that 'he' was selected not because of 'his' looks (like, y'know, models are) but because of the scars on the chest, can it? Surely.

maddy68 · 26/01/2023 09:42

Why would anyone complain. It's just scar tissue. And as a female who has had similar surgery I like to see it normalised. It's nothing to be ashamed of!

Is removing your breasts something to be promoted?

BellePeppa · 26/01/2023 09:48

Why are lesbian women becoming trans? I doubt very much straight people go trans. It’s a very curious thing how it has become global when it barely existed years ago (I don’t believe there were a huge number of people wanting to change sex as it was available to them in the 70s if they were determined to do it). What is causing this? Somewhere right at the top of this situation are people raking the money in and exploiting youngsters who are just trying to find themselves - as we all have done since the year dot without resorting to these butcheries.

ReunitedThorns · 26/01/2023 09:49

@PoliticalFootball "Essex credentials"?!?

Where have you been? That got lost a decade or more ago. TBH a lot of comments here seem to be thinking about what Burberry was more than a decade ago.

But I do wonder about these sort of models being used, do they think any man will rush out and buy clothing modelled by a woman with a double mastectomy?

Is it normal to have ones breast removed entirely for non medical reasons?
Is it normal for fashion houses to advertise things which aren't fashion?
If you saw, say, an IKEA advert set entirely on a desert island with not a single item of furniture included, would you wonder why?
If you saw an Amazon advert focusing on which political party they support would you wonder why?
If Schuh decided to use an amputee with no legs in their advertising campaign, would you find it odd they didn't feature any shoes?

You would like young females choosing to remove their breasts for cosmetic reasons to be ‘normalised’?

You want extreme cosmetic surgeries normalised and glamorised?

You believe leveraging these young females and their cosmetic surgeries will benefit other women who have had double mastectomies?

Well, at least you are honest.

Cheekymaw · 26/01/2023 09:52

Utterly vile . Exploiting the mental health issues of teenage girls to sell clothes. The mutilation of healthy breasts ! Absolutely disgusting, evil b*stards!
Complaint is going in! I am so sorry@Booblessbeauty 💐

I suggest you read the books ‘Irreversible Damage’ by Abigail Shier and Trans by Helen Joyce.

or the many threads on this board. This is a good place to start.

Complain about what? 'I saw a scar in a picture'?

Burberry will be delighted if you/we complain, they clearly think they are being edgy. And I wouldn't use Libs of TikTok to wipe my nose on.

I don't mind girls caught up in this seeing that scarring is real and quite extensive, and also that life goes on post surgery.

The scars are part of the draw. It’s self harm.

Grumpybutfunny · 26/01/2023 10:01

It's also about inclusivity it shows people can be beautiful without breasts. I like the fact the scars haven't been covered, cosmetic breast removal is very very different to mastectomy done for cancer removal and has comparatively fewer side effects as you aren't taking as much tissue. People have had cosmetic breast surgery for years I would love to have mine reduced from a C cup to an A cup once I've lost the amount of weight I want to lose.

These women have no concept of what they are doing to themselves.

I've got my first breast screening appointment soon, yay the joys of being 50.

The booklet that comes with it made me feel ill reading about masectomies.
