Canada: TW in a female only gym

I was particularly interested in this comment:

"She says she has previously worked out at co-ed gyms and never felt comfortable because it was mostly men in the facilities."

And yet STILL has no sympathy with natal women who don't feel comfortable with men there! The hypocrisy is staggering.

Very pleased to see a man, Dale Nagra, the owner of Bodyworks Fitness, sticking up for natal females.

“We want [trans] to be comfortable, but we also have to worry about the young girls that this gym is set up for and the women, and how are their parents gonna feel that they’re in there, then this person walks in with a male voice and big person,” Nagra said.

“So now you pick the comfort of the male who identifies as a woman…and then anybody can go in there saying, ‘OK, I identify as a woman, and I want to be able to go in there.’

And so, do we pick the comfort of the transgender person, and they may not be as comfortable with the co-ed gym but at least that’s an alternative, or do we pick the comfort of the young girls that are working out there that might not feel comfortable?”

I find it interesting that his message to people who feel uncomfortable with TW in the changing area is “educate yourself. Transwomen are women. Transmen are men. Non binary people are who they say they are”. But I can’t see how any amount of education could persuade any reasonable person that this individual is a woman. He’s just not.

when they say “educate yourself” what they really mean is “accept the following mantras without question”.

nilsmousehammer · 21/01/2023 12:43

"Learn to accept what I want and conform to it."

No.

No I will not be doing that.

terryleather · 21/01/2023 12:58

It's really simple.

I don't care what men want, no matter how they identify, no matter how sorry I'm supposed to feel for them because it's a "wee shame" - if you're not female then it's a hard no, you use the facilities for your sex or find a third space.

flabbygoldfish · 21/01/2023 13:15

“educate yourself. Transwomen are women. Transmen are men. Non binary people are who they say they are”.

Funny how educate yourself only happens one way - the way that fits their agenda. Not attempt to appreciate the other POV. Only a man can be that entitled!

I appreciate men\males tend to be visual beings but even they cannot be stupid enough to truly believe that if you say, and 'look' (appreciate this is not always then case) you are a woman, you must actually be one.

JanesLittleGirl · 21/01/2023 15:00

The sole positive that I take from this is that there's at least one man who does understand how women feel and will act accordingly.

Tabitha1960 · 21/01/2023 16:54

"Educate yourself".

A woman local to me sent me a PM after viewing my FB posts about the trans issue. She told me to "educate" myself on the subject of hermaphrodites, saying she knew "loads of them" and this is what trans people are.

That's kind of cute. There's a human instinctive response to rationalise things.

Obviously it would make more sense if this was some sort of "be kind to hermaphrodites" policy.

Clearly they wouldn't just let any random man into women's spaces. That would be ridculous.

So it must be hermaphrodites! Only rational explanation.

Did this woman break into the computer room when the nurses were on a smoking break?

Did she call them hermaphrodites? I thought that intersex people hated that word. lol.

That gym guy sounds refreshingly sensible.

Yes. I hope he’s allowed to continue being sensible.

Bet you anything the origin of this confusion is a TW friend who likes to milk her for sympathy while he tells her (in just a bit more detail than she’s comfortable with, but she knows he doesn’t mean any harm) all about how he has both sets of genitals and how hateful and mean people are about it.

Signalbox · 21/01/2023 17:16

flabbygoldfish · 21/01/2023 09:46

Honestly, there is absolutely nothing feminine about this person. He is 100% male in the attitude, beliefs and sense of entitlement. There is not a shred of femininity in the way they look and dress. Good for the gym owner, hope he gets lots of support. Funny how they never push to see the over viewpoint.

Isn’t this the point though. You turn up as an obvious male and then when you are denied service you claim to be traumatised and sue. If you remotely “passed” as a woman it wouldn’t work because people would be more worried about getting it wrong. The whole thing is a grift so the more masculine the better.

A close friend of mine, who is a nurse, believes that trans brains are different and they “have to become the other sex”. She also doesn’t believe that autog’s exist. It’s exasperating.

It’s bizarre isn’t it. 10 years ago and everyone knew that the bulk of male trans people were fetishists. It’s like a collective amnesia has taken place.

Ritascornershop · 22/01/2023 03:23

I think, with a lot of my friends, they equate having any hesitancy about twaw at all is exactly the same thing as homophobia. They don’t want facts, they just want to have the approved “kind” feelings. That it’s not kind to women and girls to perpetuate this nonsense is something they’d rather not think about.

WomanXXWorldsOriginsofMothersofAllNations · 22/01/2023 06:52

I wonder how many men are going to discover they are actually ‘lesbian’ <ow! the eye roll 🙄 it hurts> transwomen when they realise that the state approves, and seems to actively promote, their inclusion in women only spaces, and especially where this inclusion is in spaces they would expect female nudity?

It’s a head scratcher.

YorkshirePuddingsGreatestFan · 22/01/2023 07:49

"Educate yourself!"

I could have all the education in the world, but it still won't make me feel comfortable seeing a penis in a female only space.

I have been flashed at by a person with a penis presenting as a woman in a female public toilet.

BornBlonde · 22/01/2023 08:25

I'm so sick of hearing that women need to validate others it's so arrogant and self-entitled. I have never felt comfortable in gyms due to being clumsy & unfit. That doesn't give me rights or make me special.

BornBlonde · 22/01/2023 08:27

"Educate yourself!"

Forgot this bit. I am highly educated thanks. However even my very young children know the difference between men and women

I think it's all about power. He enjoys the power of making the women uncomfortable or frightened. He's a creep who wants to stare at women and girls without the risk of other men telling him how out of order he is. He is the type who would stare at you, daring you to challenge him, purely because he has no other way of getting a woman to talk to him. And any attention is better than none.

I know I would be terrified if I was alone in a changing room with him. He's not the type that you would chat to in an attempt to keep them calm and stay on their good side. He's the type who most women would just clam up around and get away from as fast as possible. I think he's worked out that by claiming he is a woman that he can force himself into the company of women, and they cannot avoid him. He is congratulating himself on his captive audience with no other men around as he's scared of them.

He gives off dangerous vibes to me. I would be interested to know how many men would feel comfortable watching him follow their daughter, sister or wife into a changing room. Would they be able to stay quiet I wonder?

I've come to the conclusion that he's also realised it's also the only way he's ever going to be able to see naked females without paying for the privilege.

And governments around the world, the UN, the WHO, teachers, medical professionals, those who represent us in life are all saying OK. OK for this male to do this to woman. OK to me it illegal for woman to say no. OK to remove the word female / woman from the dictionary unless it includes males who say they are woman. OK to include men in every aspect of our lives.

And then they have the fucking cheek to try and pretend they support VAWG.

Then they have the fucking cheek to pretend to support schemes for female equality.

Then they have the fucking cheek to try and encourage women's sports.

JUST TREAT US AS FUCKING HUMANS.

(All these things above are important of course, but it just seems so disingenuous. )

Wtf does that mean?

I play DnD. Both my kids play DnD. They've set up a wee group with their friends and run a campaign.
They also paint warhammer. You got a problem with that?

I think what the poster is suggesting is that if this man doesn't feel comfortable at the gym with other guys it might be because he's a bit of a geek, not because he's a woman. Not that there's anything wrong with being a bit of a geek plenty of nice D&d player around.

Froodwithatowel · 07/08/2023 14:19

"I don't feel comfortable changing in front of biological males, so I need to come in here."

"We don't feel comfortable changing in front of biological males either, so no, you're not welcome in here."

"Your comfort doesn't matter."

There is no other reason for why some women get to be comfortable and other women don't, than identifying which of those women began life owning a penis.

And I resent to the extreme having to dress that sexism up in pomo twaddle to disguise it a bit from those who do not like facing the reality of their own morals.
