Listening to James O'brien today

He actually talked about the GRR today although he did his usual long winded lecture before hand.

Basically the impression I got was that he doesn't want to say that woman are lying about their fears about single sex spaces.

But there was absolutely no compassion, no understanding, just a fear of telling woman they are lying.

Then not 1 caller that followed was female (or trans) and it was clear where he stood. It was appalling to here actually and he should be ashamed of himself. His hatred for the Tories means that he is not capable of reason in certain areas.

I did enjoy listening to JOB during the Brexit debates, probably because he was saying what I wanted to hear.

He talked about the Met Police beforehand and was very understanding to female callers.

So why does he never give woman a voice on this topic, or when he does he ridicules them?

I hope Shelagh talks about it today, although she is female so it's harder for her to cover this topic due to the levels of abuse she will get from men.

'Shelagh Fogarty is consistently excellent, on the trans issue and other issues, all without the pathetic ego trip of O'Brien.'

She's a proper journalist. He's just a jumped up little trashy tabloid and lads mag hack who got very lucky

James O'Brien 🙄

He's a one trick pony that always screens callers to ensure he's got somebody 'dumb' to sneer at and, if somebody articulate makes it through, he just puts them on mute and waffles before cutting them off.

How anybody can bear to listen to that smug, sanctimonious prick, I'll never know.

Oh, it's not just me, then!

He's a gobby spunktrumpet who ensures I get up in the morning before my alarm radio starts filling my space with his obsessive bleatings (I live in a radio blackspot so the selection of AM/FM and DAB I can receive is "selective." I refuse to have the BBC in the house and LBC is the only station I can get clearly in the bedroom on clock radio wire antenna - although Ferrari is often enough of a driver to moving from horizontal to vertical when the bladder isn't leading the way).

You make a succinct summation of the specimen. The way he talks and the tone he uses when he refers to his time at Ampleforth and what various of the masters/monks were subsequently found to be up to and prosecuted for makes me think he is in a bit of denial about "I wasn't aware of it, of course."

Further to above, I'll just leave this here📧

Question: is there a way to edit posts? Nothing stands out...

Not really, you have to report your own post to Mumsnet and have it deleted or request an edit.

Thanks for that. I was hoping there was some way to edit as a common punctuation formed from a compound of two punctuation marks seems to also be some sort of shortcode for a smiley-emoticon-thing.

Not to worry, though. I am a quick study...
