“Gender” bloody everywhere

I’ve just been looking at pet insurance quotes for my cats. Several different sites have asked for their gender instead of sex. I’ve asked them how they identify and what pronouns they use, but they’ve all fucked off for naps in warm spots around the house.
What am I supposed to answer?

I have two male cats and a female and they ALL identify as supreme overlord of the universe.

As a veterinary nurse you would be surprised how many vets and nurses have fallen for this shite.
These are people who know biology.

The staff room is a very scary place to be (and to try to keep your mouth shut).

I think a lot of people reckon that 'gender' is just a more polite word for 'sex'. Doesn't make it any less stupid though

Recently at work I was looking at a database with my boss and she said 'There's this column for gender' and I immediately, and without any forethought said 'Sex!' and to my great delight she said 'Yeah, sex is what they mean' and we carried on happily. 😁
I also remarked to someone in our main office that the day they ask me for pronouns is the day I walk out, again without thinking, and she vehemently agreed, so that was good.

Just as happenstance, our female cat has a male name. She doesn’t give the tiniest shit as she ignores us calling her anyway.

I have a gay male cat, and I'm quite sure that he definitely identifies as male! My vet hasn't asked though - maybe I need to complain 😆

I was recently asked for my pronouns in an online form for a new hairdresser - I just put 'my pronouns are sex-based' and resisted adding 'like my oppression'.

Catgender would seem like the obvious conclusion. Pronouns nya/nyan.

I went to an animal park and noticed a label which informed us that the parrot's pronouns were she/her! Was disappointed that they hadn't go round to asking all of the other animals how they identifed.

Its actually quite concerning that people who should know better use gender when they mean sex, esoecially in scientific & medical contexts. Lots of humans have no gender identity but certainly no animal has one. Please correct it whenever you can (e.g. in forms, surveys etc)! I always do.

I'm sorry to tell you, but I think your cats are irredeemable bigots. If they trounce off without telling you their pronouns, that's all you need to know. They are probably having terfy dreams as they nap.

Have you tried offering a choice of pink and blue litter trays to see which they prefer? Might give you a clue.

This still shocks me. I thought the profession would have some immunity against ascientific nonsense, but there are lots captured, including some who should be old enough to know better. I expect they use their powers to look into the puppies’ souls as they appear during caesarean sections.
