They describe themselves as non-binary and genderqueer but also say that the phrase “from maleness to femaleness” in Genesis provoked an epiphany.

This person is not the first non binary C of E priest. I know one, they just happen to not be attention seeking or talk about eyeshadow. The one I know is very down to earth (and FTNB)

Seems a little unfair that this priest has now 'claimed' that 'honour', although to be fair to them they did say to their knowledge, is your friend completely out within the CofE community? I guess your friend wouldn't have wanted the publicity anyway though which is fair enough, I completely understand that feeling. I personally wouldn't want either, no matter what I was 'famous' for.

FTNB female to non binary? I hadn't come across that one until I googled it, thanks this thread really is a learning process!

I've seen a photo of the chap wearing eyeshadow in another article. I hate to be shallow, but that's rubbish use of eyeshadow. I know a lot of vicars. The women are still battling the whole 'lady vicar' and 'never kissed a woman in a dog collar' type misogyny. Still having to outperform mediocre men. They certainly wouldn't be well received if they wore eyeshadow like that.

It feels like a woman wearing a fake moustache to get people to take her seriously. Counter productive.

I had hair like Madonna a la Desperately Seeking Susan, permed with the top bit swept in with a scarf, wrapped in a bow on top of my head. I still maintain that was a good look, extremely easy to look after, and I'm looking forward to it eventually coming back 😆 I was also partial to guys in guy liner, it makes their eyes look sexy. Yes. Nods.

Wanders off to see if I can persuade partner to let me um 'practice' on him for later 🤫

I'm never sure quite why the women in here and women of similar or like minded views are getting such hate.

We are not anti trans, however there is unquestionably a clash between some of the rights the trans activists are fighting for and some of the already existing rights of women.

It is not right and not fair that one group be prioritised over another. (I wish I could see this much passion for making the world much more accessible for those with disabilities instead to have equality of access).

Offers to find solutions that ensure both women and trans people are able to go in places and be treated with respect and Get the privacy they need Get shot down . It's not us going it's us or them. It's truly not.

The anger that comes out in These boards...it's frustration. We are talking but nobody is listening.

This should not be an argument between women's rights and trans rights but how to serve both with equality.

And as mainly mothers or victims of abuse or those of faith, rightly the safeguarding issues that this current argument is creating is what is rightly concerning the majority of the poster's here.

No we aren't accusing trans people of being bad, but bad people will subvert the laws and societal norms to suit their nefarious intention, and as Get said so many times in These threads we can't tell the difference. Is this a good man in our changing room or a bad one? We shouldn't be forced to ask that question or take that risk.

I'm just sick of it. It's all so bloody mindless.

Time to put myself in a time out😶

I wish ‘gender bending’ was still a thing instead of full-on aggressive, humourless gender appropriation.

Adam Ant. Full stop.

Don't you ever, don't you ever
Stop being dandy, showing me you're handsome
Don't you ever, don't you ever
Stop being dandy, showing me you're handsome
Prince Charming, Prince Charming
Ridicule is nothing to be scared of
Don't you ever, don't you ever
Stop being dandy, showing me you're handsome
Don't you ever, don't you ever
Lower yourself, forgetting all your standards
Don't you ever, don't you ever
Lower yourself, forgetting all your standards

That's pretty rubbish on your friends, it's not acceptable to treat people like that, I hope things start to improve in the church.

Re: the make-up I've seen some pretty 'bold' choices on people both younger and older than me, yes maybe it doesn't completely compliment them but it's their choice. Or it could be they haven't had much practice.

picklemewalnuts · 03/01/2023 17:01

In the church it's pretty good. It tends to be at weddings and funerals, people who don't do church very often and are still titillated by the sight of a woman in a cassock

atomsgirl · 03/01/2023 16:58

Ooh... Adam Ant...

I know. He was beautiful.
Remembers the yearning of my youth

Followed by a sadness for a youth now long gone

Why can't they just Get out there and LIVE it instead of constantly be in angst.

picklemewalnuts · 03/01/2023 17:39

Live it, eyeliner, humour and all.

picklemewalnuts · 03/01/2023 17:40

My point remains that women in the church are expected to look 'appropriate'. They would be expected to wear good make up, or none.

ReunitedThorns · 03/01/2023 17:53

It's one thing for these men to want to dress up like it privately, but I can never get my head around their desire to show everyone what they get up to.

This used to be stuff men would go to great lengths to cover up, not go to the national press.

But what exactly is the problem with a man wearing'women's' clothing? Really?

Boiledbeetle · 03/01/2023 18:06

It's not like we are confined tho just dresses and skirts

Boiledbeetle · 03/01/2023 18:06

Thank God
