Point them to this thread written by the angry women of mumsnet, all are welcome, we even have our own monitor getting posts zapped if they dont like the hurty words in them.

You could introduce your friends to the issues via the medium of poems written by angry mumsnetters since Elaine showed her merkin to the world.

Unsurprisingly (considering merkin is easier to shove in a poem than Sturgeon, although they're have been some wonderful efforts at doing just that) the merkin makes a LOT of appearances.

Misread/misunderstood (silly brain) Beetle’s post & thought we’d reached some kind of Tribute Merkin combined with attention-grabbing protests situation.

The [in]famous merkin (of Elaine’s own design) has a pocket - which it would indeed be much much easier to shove a poem than the FM into. I managed to get all the way to imagining a poetry-based board game with bepocketed merkins; little Sturgeon pieces as forfeits for when your composition is incomplete/doesn’t meet the brief/loses in an ad-verse-ity challenge (multiple complex options for competing against another player or players); & a range of poem “pieces” as well as literally keeping written notes in them. This didn’t take long, to be clear, as I was busy realising I had things sideways. (And nobody was constructing some kind of First Minister Trap using a giant merkin. Or at least, if they are, it is not being discussed here.)

@NitroNine you see Elaine is genius, not only the parliament stunt but when you think what she does for a living she's created her own customer stream (!) of women who see all the merkin jokes flying around and after laughing too much have to Google pelvic floor exercises and end up straight at Elaines website for helping with all things foof related.

I ABSOLUTELY love that when all the shit was originally flying all she really had to say was that the merkin had a pocket.

I'm straight but I'm definitely going through a serious woman crush! She rocks!

We could do a poem book, board game, translate genderwoo speak into English dictionary.

We'd be rich! rich i tell you...erm I mean we'd raise lots of money for the women of Scotland to help fight their fight .

Now I have a tendency to dream about chessboards (I know weird right. I even foned a radio 2 phone in once to see what it meant) but tonight I just know I shall be dreaming of merkin chess pieces.

Hurry up and finish your game design I rather like the sound of it. Would pass the time whilst holed up in building somewhere waiting for the tras to go home for their tea.
