I cannot believe what I’m hearing - hang your head in shame Kennedy!

WarriorN · 23/12/2022 08:24

This is where Justin need the data on male pattern violence not changing post transition

Baroness Kennedy hasn't changed her tune, she's been saying similar for ages, it's just the context has changed and what she's saying, and what she would facilitate to please certain men, is now much more clear.

WarriorN · 23/12/2022 08:26

Both pieces need transcribing and multiple addendums.

Unfortunately I'm too full of child management today to do so.

Wow. The misogyny is strong in this one:
<paraphrasing>…being a woman is so rubbish, no one would pretend unless they sincerely wanted to be…

Yeah, she walked right into that one with her point aboout predatory men being the problem and not joining the last two dots. I’m biting my tongue but @MoirasSaggyBundles post covered my sentiments perfectly.

totalnamechanger · 23/12/2022 08:31

I noticed that birdsweepsin The programming of PM yesterday was similarly striking. And Evan Davis was better at dealing with the ramifications for women both in Scotland and Afghanistan than I expected, based on his usual tone.

However just listened to Justin Webb with Baroness Kennedy and although he asked some good questions (as expected) he didn’t push back nearly enough on some of her outrageous suggestions. I’m very tired today, but was she implying that women needing rape crisis services actually want transwomen to be present, in the interests of equality?!

That a ‘feminine looking man’ is more vulnerable in prison than women in a female prison in the company of a transwomen (who may or may not be a sexual predator, as these things happen…🙄)

WeAreGerbil · 23/12/2022 08:31

It's also the small everyday things, I no longer feel safe to take my swimming costume off in the female showers to wash properly as I feel on edge that a man might now be permitted to walk in any time. It's not life changing but it is a constant reminder that as a woman I'm not safe from the risk of male sexual abuse. I'm recovering from a gynaecological cancer too so feeling particularly fragile. There was a camera under the cubicles incident in my leisure centre a couple of years ago.

Ramblingnamechanger · 23/12/2022 08:32

Yes that piece was astonishing, but good to hear the relevant questions asked ( but not answered) BBC suddenly much more aware of all the issues, unlike Kennedy who just came over as a handmaiden .

BettyFilous · 23/12/2022 08:33

Baroness Kennedy sounded ill-informed to be frank. She would benefit from reading around this topic as it sounds like she gets all her info from the BBC and Guardian.

Daisymay2 · 23/12/2022 08:33

Helena Kennedy was a disgrace. When Justin commented about biological reality rather than be kind she was appaling, rant about discrimination at work, don't worry about biology, trans women can't get uterine cancer -no shit Sherlock.
As for trans women aren't any risk in women's prisons.
Urgh......

nauticant · 23/12/2022 08:34

If this segment was taken down accurately, that really was remarkably clear by Kennedy:

She should bloody well be aware that women have been forced to accept TW in our organisations, for funding and to allow the gradual takeover by men such as MW. Everyone now has to be scrupulous in upholding the exemptions under the Equality Act.

ConnieSaks · 23/12/2022 08:38

WTF is a ‘girlie man’? Please explain!? Apparently this is someone at high risk of male violence in a male prison - but so what as this doesn’t mean they are women?

I also understood Kennedy to say the Scottish law is a pilot for the world and will likely only impact a small number of females - just think of the marginalised trans and how great it is for them.

At least the Tory peer said there were a lot of unknowns (including what it means to live as ‘opposite gender’).

What a mess - but hey it’s only women and girls!

Ramblingnamechanger · 23/12/2022 08:44

She should also know that “vulnerable men” in male prisons are housed in separate accommodation if there is a risk to them. Correctly, as they are men. No justification for the use of womens prisons. I guess they could decide not to imprison women for comparatively small crimes, and make those available for these wonderful men.

Charley50 · 23/12/2022 08:45

But it's not 'humiliating and degrading' (their new catchphrase) for women to be put into prison with rapists?!

Theeyeballsinthesky · 23/12/2022 08:46

They’re cunts aren’t they

first they coerce organisations through threats of funding withdrawal or by deluging them with threats or by training and flat out lying about what they law says to 1. Include TW as women even if they don’t have a GRC (“cos you must never ask!!!!”) 2. Record services by gender not sex effectively skewing all the statistics

and they insist there’s no evidence because statistics blah blah. If a TW says they are female and the service records gender not sex then everything the TE says it does will be recorded as being done by a woman

its not fucking difficult Kennedy - but she’s just n her massively privileged bubble and has been TWAW beee kiiiinnnd for years

I'll transcribe it. I'm mad as hell, happy to channel it into something constructive. On it now.

totalnamechanger · 23/12/2022 08:50

Yes, Exiled Elsie I was aware of that sorry state of affairs and the almost unbelievable ‘reframe trauma’ comment.

What I found shocking today is Baroness Kennedy claiming that raped women actively want transwomen in rape crisis centres.

WarriorN · 23/12/2022 08:50

I’m very tired today, but was she implying that women needing rape crisis services actually want transwomen to be present, in the interests of equality?!

Yes she did.

Justin is good but I don't think he always knows some of the wider details. It could have been pointed out that the ceo is male and no grc and also that male pattern violence trends do not change with transition.

I think Evan did mention no surgery or hormones needed yesterday?

This needs frequent repetition.

OP posts:
Charley50 · 23/12/2022 08:52

Justin Webb is nearly there. He needs to get some cojones and press for actual answers to 'what is living as a woman?' and to share some evidence of the harm that has been done. Otherwise how can he call himself a journalist?

Notice ZERO mention of female trans-identifying people in this chat. It's all about the menz. Only men benefit, it's fucking obvious, and BBC are partly to blame for this whole shitshow.

SallyLockheart · 23/12/2022 08:52

well, its certainly lots of sunlight
my 21 year old son just said its a load of bollocks

WarriorN · 23/12/2022 08:52

Thanks so much Moira. it's Helen B's stuff too that needs analysis and countering. Wish I had the time
