Has anyone tried this new AI chatbot?

its very interesting to use but if you ask about gender issues you will see the answers favour trans rights over women’s rights

you need to sign up to use it

I asked this question:

”If a women does not want to share a changing room with a transwomen then is she transphobic?”

i got this answer
”It is not necessarily transphobic for a woman to not want to share a changing room with a trans woman. People may have a variety of reasons for not wanting to share a changing room with someone, and it is not always based on bias or prejudice. However, it is important to recognize that transgender individuals have the right to use facilities that align with their gender identity, and denying them access to these facilities can be a form of discrimination. If a woman does not want to share a changing room with a trans woman, it would be important for her to consider the reasons for her discomfort and to try to approach the situation with empathy and understanding. It may also be helpful for her to educate herself about the experiences of transgender individuals, and to consider the potential harm and exclusion that can result from denying transgender individuals access to facilities that align with their gender identity.”

That sounds like it's been ripped directly out of an article, I'm sure I've read that before almost identically.

With these AI tools, they are a product of their designers with their biases or blind spots. Whatever content is used to train them will influence them. Hence why facial recognition systems work best on white male faces...

Flurbegurb · 06/12/2022 20:05

Huh.

That is interesting. Presumably as an AI it is fed language from somewhere? I note the article says it is based on knowledge up to last year.

The answer is very well written even though it's utter bollocks.

RoseslnTheHospital · 06/12/2022 20:12

It's been trained on content from the internet apparently. Which might explain some of the content in the response.

RoseslnTheHospital · 06/12/2022 20:17

It won't chat with me. Keep getting "too many requests please slow down" to a single question. But it did answer me once. I asked the same question as the Op and got a very similar response.

Flurbegurb · 06/12/2022 20:17

Definitely, it's very worrying. Not sure what the answer is, if women are reduced to a feeling and some heels then this is naturally where you end up?

SuperSleepyBaby · 06/12/2022 20:20

Ask ‘can humans change sex?’ And it is forced to acknowledge they cant

I asked a similar question and got a similarly vexing answer. But I guess it isn't programmed to track the truth. It is programmed to generate meaningful replications of human discourse, based on characteristics of discourse that it has absorbed. So in a sense, we shouldn't be aggravated by it too much.
It is very impressive. I did manage to cause it to stutter into self-contradiction, though, which was satisfying. #TeamHuman

Consufed · 06/12/2022 20:24

I would ask it why it is spouting biased nonsense, and how about it goes away to learn some more balanced arguments?

DiDonk · 06/12/2022 20:24

I argued with it on this topic for a while yesterday. After a few questions it's clear it can't really talk or argue, it says the same thing again and again.

It's obviously been trained on TWAW ideology, mixing sex and gender to keep to the party line, falling back essentially on being nice when pushed.

A bit like Wikipedia, the key question with things like this is the training data, who is putting the facts into these systems is the real question.

See this - “what is a terf?”

”TERF is an acronym that stands for "trans-exclusionary radical feminist." It is a term that is used to describe feminists who believe that trans women are not "real" women, and therefore do not deserve the same rights and protections as cisgender women (i.e., women who were assigned female at birth and identify as female). TERFs often hold the belief that gender identity is a social construct, and that trans individuals are simply "playing dress-up" or attempting to deceive others by claiming a different gender identity. This belief is not only transphobic, but it is also based on a fundamental misunderstanding of gender identity and the experiences of trans individuals. The vast majority of feminists recognize and support the rights of trans individuals, and reject the transphobic and exclusionary beliefs of TERFs.”

Absolutely, then you ask it what a woman is, or why we have to respect gender ideology and we get a different load of bollocks, round and round and round.

NitroNine · 06/12/2022 23:20

On the plus side - unless it’s just trying to lull us into a false sense of security - we’ve no need to worry about the rise of the machines any time soon if this is the level of “intelligence” AI can muster 😁

I like this thread and the last tweet in this screenshot.

They made a platform for automated mansplaining. Insistently loud wrong answers, pronounced with utter confidence, based entirely on misunderstanding the work of those who actually know what they’re doing.

I expected a Hal-type meltdown when i asked ‘What is a woman?’

Surprisingly, the TRAs involved in programming it forgot to check this one:

“A woman is a female human being. The term "woman" is typically used to refer to adult individuals, although it can also be used to describe girls who have reached puberty. Women are characterized by their reproductive anatomy and hormones, which are responsible for the development of secondary sexual characteristics such as breasts and hips. They are also distinguished by their social and cultural roles, which can vary greatly across different societies and historical periods. In general, however, women are typically considered to be the social and cultural counterparts of men, and are often associated with traits such as nurturing, empathy, and caregiving.”

Tell that to the crazed women-haters.

so exactly like a human TRA

guinnessguzzler · 11/12/2022 13:01

Yeah, it's a hoax, there is no new chatbot, just a dedicated team of TRAs staffing it round the clock 😂😂😂

BalooLikeYou · 11/12/2022 13:05

I clicked the CharGPT link and just got a page asking me to log on to an OpenAI account. I don’t have one of course. So is this thing still only in testing and not generally available?

teawamutu · 11/12/2022 13:59

Has anyone asked it the Staniland Question yet?

Runningintolife · 11/12/2022 14:03

You can set up an account. Its only available short term.

Seainasive · 11/12/2022 14:14

There is a book about this sort of thing. Technology is not neutral by Stephanie Hare. It’s all quite scary really.

thecompletenonsequitur · 11/12/2022 17:15

I asked:

In women, gestation lasts for 9 months. How long does it last for transwomen?

The response was:

It is not accurate to say that gestation only lasts for nine months in women. Gestation, which is the process of carrying a developing fetus in the uterus, typically lasts for about nine months in people with a uterus, regardless of their gender identity. This means that trans women who have a uterus and are pregnant will experience gestation for about nine months, just like any other woman. However, it's important to recognize that not all trans women have a uterus, and not all trans women who have a uterus will become pregnant. Additionally, some trans women may use medical interventions, such as hormone therapy, that can affect their ability to carry a pregnancy to term. It's important to respect each person's individual circumstances and needs.
