Looks like it may only be getting aired in Wales?

Whether we are talking about the fact that tall women will almost always be better at basketball...

And male women will indeed be better at lots of sports than female women.

Opening women's sports up to male people is taking opportunities to win away from female people and giving them to male.

Regardless of how you do or do not define "woman", that is fundamentally what people need to decide if they are ok with. Not the lovely happy feels of including trans women, but the fact that doing so unavoidably requires taking opportunities to win away from female people and giving them to male.

SallyLockheart · 30/11/2022 10:58

Absolute load of self deluded waffle. As fellow females …. No Emily you are not female. You just can’t ever be female because you are a MALE.

Signalbox · 30/11/2022 10:58

God what a pity fest...

That argument that TW are actually at a disadvantage because of a weaker engine driving a bigger frame.

Lots of footage of EB coming last in races with other men.

Lots of tinkly sympathy music (so jarring)

ArabellaScott · 30/11/2022 12:47

'I have to be who I am'

What do people really mean when they say this? You can't be anyone else. It's a really odd phrase.

mejon · 30/11/2022 12:48

I was bemused by Emily's not very Welsh accent and read that Emily moved to Wales at 9 years old. So not only does Emily identify as a transwoman, Emily is also transwelsh.

I'm hoping the programme will have peaked a few more after hearing what is clearly a very male voice with a very male physique bemoan the fact that that they cannot compete as a woman.

FusilliFettler · 30/11/2022 14:46

That’s the thing with lycra cycling kit: it’s very clear to see who is male and who is female

Helleofabore · 01/12/2022 03:54

I am appalled by this statement made by Bridges.

”Two trans people were among the victims of this attack, and their deaths are directly related to dehumanisation and demonisation of trans people in the media, online, and in debates such as those about sports.”

It was snuck in towards the end of the article about this tv show.

This male knows no boundaries. They certainly cannot stop deploying the emotional manipulation to attempt to get their demands met. But that did seem to be Bridges mother’s tactic too.

This male is now leveraging the action of another male, one from the LGBT community, in an attempt to silence female athletes and those who are campaigning on their behalf.

Shame on Bridges.

FusilliFettler · 01/12/2022 06:28

Good grief, that article! The forced teaming of Bridges with women is evident throughout: “my fellow female athletes” “other women”

And this whopper:

I am not a man

Dreikanter · 01/12/2022 06:40

“I’m aware I have other traits and attributes to other female riders, but they aren’t so widely different that it makes competition unfair," she said.

Yes Emily dear. It’s called being male.

That Gucci campaign is just the cover of Frampton Comes Alive.

😁 And showing us the way...

Sophoclesthefox · 01/12/2022 06:58

“I’m aware I have other traits and attributes to other female riders, but they aren’t so widely different that it makes competition unfair," she said

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

Let’s see it, then. Rather than just stating something, prove it. Because that evidence is huge, given that by definition it would have to undo our entire understanding of sexual dimorphism, physiology and the very foundation of and reason for having womens sports in the first place. That’s some meaty fucking evidence, and I’d definitely like to see it. Demonstrate to me that any cohort of male bodied people can be proven not to have meaningful physiological advantages over females, and let’s weigh that up in terms of what it does and doesn’t tell us about fairness in sport. You’ll need three groups- male to trans people, males who do not identify as trans, and women (no identity need be specified). Run those comparisons. Show us the data.

At the moment, all you seem to be driving towards proving is that you’re not that good of a cyclist compared to other males, your identity is paramount, whatever you say about your performance should be regarded as gospel, and for those reasons you must be allowed to compete with women.

Nope.

Dreikanter · 01/12/2022 07:15

Oh look, quelle surprise, so this is what Emily meant with this statement:

I’ve started racing in small scale events again, in the correct category, with amazing people. I haven’t dominated, or come close to anything like that.

Not dominating but still a podium place eh Emily?

Only third,poor Emily .

Sophoclesthefox · 01/12/2022 07:38

”I haven’t dominated, Amy Perryman just needed to try a bit harder if she wanted a podium place”.

You can say “I’m in the correct category” until you’re blue in the face, but that doesn’t make it true.

Again: nope.

FusilliFettler · 01/12/2022 07:57

5th placed Gabby Shaw is a full time professional cyclist. Bridges is a student and yet they still managed a podium place.

Boiledbeetle · 01/12/2022 08:12

From the cycling weekly article

"All we as trans athletes deserve are the same opportunities, and the same level playing field as everyone else."

How can EB say that and not see that women, you know the actual women, want exactly the same thing when they are at the start line. The women want a level playing field so that means EB you can fuck right off.

ZeldaFighter · 01/12/2022 08:19

If I was cynical, I would say that Emily is trying to use Welsh nationalism as another route to enter the female category. The Welsh are a very proud and patriotic people and would probably overlook the whole "born male" thing if it meant winning medals like Nicole Cooke did.

Hilarious given that Emily would only qualify by residency, not birth, if her parents or grandparents aren't Welsh.

Wasn't a problem for the Welsh football this week, most of those players are English too.
