I emailed the CEO of Sainsburys a couple of weeks ago about a Facebook add which kept appearing with Kitty (a man dressed as a woman) telling us women how we should have body confidence, presumably they couldn’t find a woman to discuss womens body confidence.

The add got ripped to shreds, Sainsburys accidentally posted “NFA” when it was pointed out that they probably meant to keep this internal it got quickly deleted.

Eventually they removed the add then reposted and basically got all the same responses.

Today I got a reply internally lodging my complaint - given the obvious signs GI has infiltrated this brand see picture I don’t expect anyone to do anything - another brand off the shopping list.

where we have drag queen story time for employee's kids and lunchtime talks on being 'queer'

Who in their right mind would take their kids to this and spend their lunchtime listening to nonsense?

Can I suggest that everyone who goes the boycott route makes it explicit (to the retailer in question and through SM) why they are no longer shopping there? All the staff should know what caused the demise of the brand and their consequent job loss, not just the CEO

It's a shame that ideologies are ruining perfectly good British brands and reliable outlets. One would think that they are ignoring and annoying their customer base on purpose. It's shocking

HilarysMantelpiece · 26/11/2022 09:55

@MNHQ why on earth was @Roystonv post deleted?
They made a point about all the disabled, chronic pain, survivors of trauma.... where is the campaign about their rights?
I know who I see at the bottom of the pile and who is the most vulnerable and oppressed. I've made the point here several times.

Try being the mum of a child with severe autism, who sleeps 8pm to 2am and doesn't go back to sleep, who has to be supervised for their safety, who will kick and lash out at you, who requires full personal care for toileting and feeding and dressing and washing... with no respite.
A child who cant tolerate a full day at school, so mum barely has time to dress and wash herself during the day.
That mum and that child are actually oppressed and disadvantaged.... and invisible, cos no-one is fronting a campaign for them.

Absolutely. Every time I hear a trans or non-binary complaining about being ‘triggered’ by their identity not being recognised, or how they are the most vulnerable in society I think this.

There are people with real struggles, real trauma. Not this navel gazing, self-absorbed nonsense by people with way too much time on their hands.

Are people still trying to boycott Ocado over that poster??

For those who don’t know, Ocado happened to be using the same advertising company that took down the poster.
A TRA took it upon themselves to tweet them, and a number of others who also used the advertising company, demanding support.
Ocado replied with a tweet in support and promising to look into it.

Once it became clear what had happened, Ocado actually telephoned many of their angry women customers to apologise.
It’s nothing like the situation at Sainsbury’s.

I bet people can’t even remember the name of the advertising company in question.

NoShrunking · 26/11/2022 10:11

Arse. I've just started doing more shopping at Sainsbury's because they are significantly cheaper than Ocado and Waitrose and we don't have a Morrisons near us. What's the state of Asda?

CourtneeLuv · 26/11/2022 10:39

Boiledbeetle · 24/11/2022 12:20

I've fixed that graphic from up thread

😂😂😂

Roystonv · 26/11/2022 13:07

Yes would love to know why my post was deleted Mumsnet? Methinks this is getting to be a bit of a familiar problem and how will we ever 'learn' if you don't let us know know how we have 'offended'.

HermioneWeasley · 26/11/2022 14:02

@NoShrunking ASDA are full kool aid - they issue staff with pronoun badges and in lockdown paid a diversity company to write materials for primary aged kids which they sent out. They had to withdraw it when women pointed out that it included the phrase “love has no age” and one of the recommended books glamourised child sexual abuse. The CEO had to write to Baroness Nicholson and clarify that he and ASDA did not in fact endorse paedophilia.

NoShrunking · 26/11/2022 14:26

@HermioneWeasley

I'm going to have to start growing my own baked beans.

Or get a better paid job so that I can afford Waitrose

HermioneWeasley · 26/11/2022 14:54

Do Morrisons deliver in your area?

ControversialOpening · 26/11/2022 15:08

Anyone with pronouns in their signature is either really stupid, un-informed, un-educated or knows everything that is going on and simply hates women

… or most likely all four.

ControversialOpening · 26/11/2022 15:10

Just found Morrison near me, I hadn’t even known it was there. Near to Sainsbury where I until now did my shopping.

PomegranateOfPersephone · 26/11/2022 15:14

I find Morrison’s is reasonably priced. My DP will be pleased that I have switched over from the more expensive places.

NoShrunking · 26/11/2022 15:18

@HermioneWeasley They do. I will experiment next week...

Anyone with pronouns in their signature is either really stupid, un-informed, un-educated or knows everything that is going on and simply hates women

Or is scared of being found out as being 'uninclusive'. I work with someone who has pronouns in her signature because of not wanting to offend trans people but doesn't see the connection to the wider picture.

xalo · 26/11/2022 15:38

Ok Morrison's and Aldi for me.

Women were called back and apologised to?
I dont recall that.
Any receipts

Chrestomanci3 · 26/11/2022 17:35

Ocado called me back after I emailed them to tell them why I would no longer shop with them after the poster issue a few years ago. They were sorry that I felt that way but said they could not comment openly on the issue. I explained that by tweeting about it they had already commented openly on it and this adult human female was not impressed. I have not spent any money with them since.

Tanith · 26/11/2022 17:43

Yes, we were called back and they apologised. It's mentioned in the thread that was linked by a PP.
Some were not prepared to accept that apology; some were.

As someone said on another thread, if you support this ideology - of which pronouns are a core tenet - and claim not to understand what the problem is, you are either thick, or lying. Or the third option that you DO understand but are absolutely fucking revelling in the opportunity to kick women in the teeth - Little OJ, Billy Bragg and Frankie Boyle all fall into this category.

The post before yours says they were sorry that poster felt that way, not that they were sorry for getting involved.

It’s amazing how clueless these people are, are they given bags of glue to sniff before meetings with TRAs?

Sorry for confusion @HermioneWeasley, as a PP guessed, it was my poor use of english Blush Morrisons are the goodies.

Now I have recounted my Ocado tale to many that would listen, as I am still smarting from it. Lots of us at the time said to the ocado callers that we would shop with them again if they tweeted a retraction or similar. They refused and just kept with the low key individual apology phone calls so I kept with the not-shopping-with-them. Any apology needs to be in the same medium as the fuck up, IMO.
And in all of this, Ocado lured me to the FWR dark side. I used to sigh and hide all the trans threads on active, but Ocado brought me to the board. And they won't know this or even care, but I've been doing a fair bit behind the scenes in a key sector with some important players over the past four years, learning from lurking and posting. From small acorns... Also I converted my mum, and she's a firecracker Grin

HermioneWeasley · 26/11/2022 22:21

Awesome @mcduffy

Ive also been working behind the scenes on a few things - their over reach has awakened an army of women!
