Sainsburys

I emailed the CEO of Sainsburys a couple of weeks ago about a Facebook add which kept appearing with Kitty (a man dressed as a woman) telling us women how we should have body confidence, presumably they couldn’t find a woman to discuss womens body confidence.

The add got ripped to shreds, Sainsburys accidentally posted “NFA” when it was pointed out that they probably meant to keep this internal it got quickly deleted.

Eventually they removed the add then reposted and basically got all the same responses.

Today I got a reply internally lodging my complaint - given the obvious signs GI has infiltrated this brand see picture I don’t expect anyone to do anything - another brand off the shopping list.

“Changing rooms can be a scary place” says Kitty in the advert. Literally mocking women’s and girl’s physical safety concerns about letting men into women’s changing rooms. Wonder how the girls assaulted by transwomen in women’s changing rooms and toilets feel about this advert.

Oh, Sainsburys, Sainsburys. How very 2019 of you. Read the room.

But in good news - Pret frozen croissants are now stocked on Ocado, so there is no need to shop at Sainsburys anymore 👌

Ocado are not much better unfortunately. They sided with the misogynists demanding an adult human female poster be removed a few years ago

I'm disgusted.

I'm disabled, they could have made the changing accessible, instead they have shoved a treadmill in there, way to rub it in Sainsbury's.

sashh · 25/11/2022 07:21

Oh and I'm also pissed off with the drag queen.

lapasion · 25/11/2022 07:30

I’ve disliked Sainsbury’s since I heard an ad over their tannoy proclaiming “over 50% of people go through the menopause!” What a weird way to word it. Which people go through the menopause?

That would be women, which therefore excludes men who proclaim themselves to feel like women (which they can never actually explain what it means)

Great point, so much for inclusivity - apparently this means pandering to men without a disability- the dictionary is obviously in need of a complete rewrite!

So looks like Morrisons are doing well amongst this sea of madness

Well, women of Mumsnet, if we all boycott Sainsbury's we can make a significant protest and dent their Christmas profits.

nilsmousehammer · 25/11/2022 11:59

They announced recently that they have made their staff changing rooms/ toilets gender neutral and won't be entertaining complaints from any staff ( read that as female staff of course) who object to this.

Ah.

So female staff, your trauma, inclusion, access, faith, culture, disability and human rights must be subordinated as all times to male employees' wishes.

This is sexism on crack. And discriminatory. It's indefensible. Women are being told they are second class citizens who can shut up, put up and obey to put males first, or face the consequences. Bring on the fucking court cases. There are nine characteristics, not one. And that one does not trump the other eight.

nilsmousehammer · 25/11/2022 12:04

I'm quite sorry about the mess from Kitty. I quite liked him in Master Chef, he was entertaining and reminded me of the blokes who did drag in the gay clubs of my youth where they were highly entertaining, fun to be with men who were playing a joke you were in on. It never felt misogynistic or derogatory to women.

But as soon as you start on the 'he's a woman, talking to other women and this man is the best person to explain women's issues to women' - yeah total turn off. I'm getting to the point of that instant sense of disgust and withdrawal as soon as I see woman-face now because it's just so grindingly, tediously misogynist and bludgeoning in its Men Are Women And Better Women At Everything - oh fuck off. No. They're not women. They shouldn't be speaking for or over women. They're drag queens or TW or their own group that they're welcome to speak for, but they are NOT the bloody master race of females.

As for 'some women find the changing rooms scary' - yes they fucking do. Because there are men in them. But some men get really scary if you dare as a woman to say that out loud. The only kind of women's 'scary' that can be talked about is what men agree first is nice enough to men and acceptable to mention. It's as sexist as fuck and demonstrates in a nutshell why men should not be involved, ever, in women's spaces.

Have third spaces. Have nine spaces for all I care. Gold plate them. Hang them with rainbows. You're not taking the women's off them.

finnmcool · 25/11/2022 13:00

Sainsbury don't give a shit. A young girl was raped in one of their toilets in 2006 and instead of improving safety for women and girls, they've thrown open the doors.

In my local store, the toilets are labelled as men and women, even though they allow men to use the women's. How do women make an informed choice of what facilities to use if they are not honestly labelled?

I've spoken to different in store managers, apparently none of them knew about this policy. In spite of appearing shocked, none of them got back to me and the toilets are still not honestly labelled.

I have raised child Safeguarding with regards to employees under the age of 18 having to share changing/toilet facilities with people of the opposite sex. No response.

When I raised my concerns in an email, I got the standard response of inclusivity.

It's like these companies want the wolf to blow the house down.

nilsmousehammer · 25/11/2022 14:03

I got the standard response of inclusivity.

Bollocks is it inclusivity.

Where in any legal document does it state that inclusion means being actively prejudiced and exclusionary to multiple groups of females protected under the Equality Act?

OMG12 · 25/11/2022 14:30

I mean it begs the question, why have changing rooms at all? Let’s just strip off in the aisles and try clothes on there. I mean what’s the difference if they are opening up womens changing rooms to men. Actually it’s probably much safer to just strip off in the store.

No thrill for male people in that though. Let's be honest about this. The desired experience is to be male in a space full of female people in a state of vulnerability or undress.

I cancelled my delivery pass and switched to Morrisons when the toilets changed to mixed last year, and told them why. The woman on the phone was a bit arsey about it.

Which Morrisons have mixed toilets? I’ve got a few near me and they all have toilets labelled “male” and “female”. I vaguely remember them saying they had single sex facilities when asked a few years ago. It’ll be disappointing if they’ve changed their mind.

I hope you’re not suggesting that these men are fetishists who get off on intimidating women when they are vulnerable- heaven forbid!

Thanks for this thread, I regularly use Tesco, Ocado and Waitrose but I will switch to Morrison’s and Lidl. I thought they were all as bad as each other on this so it is good to know that isn’t the case.

The reason behind the desire varies. I would however say in all honesty that all the reasons involve making use of women's bodies; it's an interesting debate as to whether any making use of other human beings without their consent is ever acceptable. No other part of the woman after all is of any interest. Particularly her brain, voice, feelings, lived experiences....

Tesco did give Mermaids a donation in 2020 @Footballmatchdilemma

But this year it went to Switchboard, Terence Higgins and Fighting With Pride (www.vercida.com/uk/articles/tesco-donate-to-pride-2022 ) so I'm back with them... for now.

I'm afraid that the Terrence Higgins Trust are well down the Trans rabbit-hole. So Tesco's is still a no-go place for me.

From the THT website:
As an organisation, we're acutely aware of the relentless attacks that trans and non-binary people are being subjected to every day – online, in the media, in-person and - shamefully - by political leaders. We're utterly appalled by these attacks.
^^
The transphobia we see today is similar to abhorrent tactics used to historically target people living with HIV – we called it out then and we'll call it out now. Trans rights are human rights. They should never be up for debate. We're committed to doing everything we can to ensure trans people are not left behind in the fight against HIV, and the delivery of better sexual health for all.
^^
Our charity is unashamedly trans inclusive, speaking out against discrimination and injustice whenever we can. Trans sexual health has historically been neglected, with trans, non-binary and gender diverse people often find they are left out of mainstream sexual health information and can feel uncomfortable attending sexual health clinics due to prejudice, misgendering...

“Trans rights are human rights. They should never be up for debate.” Apparently even when they conflict with womens rights. I mean why should we be able to debate an issue which demonstrably puts women at risk, takes away their dignity and dehumanises them and takes away their voices.

if I didn’t know better, I would be starting to think these TRAs have some ammunition against some v powerful people. I cannot actually comprehend how so many people seem to have taken leave of their senses!!

It's bonkers, isn't it, @OMG12 . How did organisations set up with the best of motives warp into women-hating maniacs?

People with a transitioned child are behind a lot of the hate. They will never, never be able to admit that they got it so badly wrong with their own child.

It’s little more than a cult really under the facade of a “community”. I actually feel so sorry for those people who previously would have quietly transitioned and just got on with their lives being dragged into this

Trans 'rights' (what rights? This is never explained) are apparently human rights, but female rights aren't, and talking about them is transphobic.

Yeah.

Women are transphobic.
Biology is transphobic
Equality is transphobic
Homosexuality is transphobic
Trauma is transphobic
feminism is transphobic
safeguarding children is transphobic.....

Now what do all those things have in common I wonder? Could it be presenting boundaries to males?
