Very distressing account of aftermath of 'Yeet the teets' surgeon's work

This is very disturbing indeed. How can a US surgeon do this and not be whatever their equivalent is of struck off? (Be aware, there are some very graphic images here, but towards the end.) To me as a layperson it appears that SG is extremely fortunate this patient didn't die. One revelation here is that she has opted out of medical malpractice insurance, which appears to mean she can't be sued. What? How does that even work?

No medical malpractice insurance??

ImNotOnTwitterButMySupportGoldfinchTweets · 18/11/2022 17:57

I don’t understand the medical malpractice thing. Assumedly, the problem is that without insurance she’s personally liable and she’s managed to dump her assets somehow so that if she’s sued there’s no money to be had, hence lawyers not being interested in suing her? Right? Cos I don’t understand it otherwise.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 18/11/2022 17:57

One of the tweet replies says this is to put off the ambulance chasers (if I'm understanding this correctly). The patient could still sue but would have to pay the legal fees upfront rather than getting a lawyer on a no win no fee basis.

X-post, yeah that makes sense. I’m guessing almost none of these kids can pay up front, and lawyers will take a slam dunk medical malpractice knowing the get paid out the winnings, except there won’t be any. Leaving her free to mutiliate patients with no fallout.

I cannot believe anyone in the US has an insurance policy that would cover treatment by a doctor without malpractice insurance, so I’m guessing she’s taking cash up front knowing the people who could pay to sue her will be go8ng elsewhere.

This is horrific. What an evil woman this is.

Abhannmor · 18/11/2022 18:05

A vile horrible creature. Scythe Gallagher.

Soontobe60 · 18/11/2022 18:06

I read that thread earlier today. I have mixed feelings about it. The Tweeter, a morbidly obese transman, opted to pay for the services of this surgeon because other surgeons would not perform a double mastectomy on the transman due to their size. So other surgeons knew it was unsafe and yet the transman, who is an adult, not a child, still went ahead. And now, sadly the other surgeons have been proven to be right. Such surgery on very overweight people is extremely risky. The tweeter is not regretting the surgery, they are regretting the choice of surgeon. How have we ended up with a situation whereby ‘we’ are celebrating such surgeries???

I believe that any surgeon who makes a great deal of money by performing surgery on gender dysphoric people has morally dubious credentials.

ArabellaScott · 18/11/2022 18:06

Read this earlier. Absolutely heartbreaking. I really hope that the person involved has plenty of support and good friends/family who can look after them, care for them and allow them to recover.

Christ, the US healthcare system is messed up.

ArabellaScott · 18/11/2022 18:14

Looks like Dr Gallagher's Twitter and Facebook accounts are gone.

ArabellaScott · 18/11/2022 18:15

Instagram's up but comments turned off.

TaxWax · 18/11/2022 18:17

Urgh. I have come across this surgeon before in the context of operating on young girls, some I believe under 16 and likely with mental illness. An absolute disgrace to Ireland (where she’s from).

Rightsraptor · 18/11/2022 18:18

I expect Dr G to do a runner at some stage in the future, possibly in the near future.

I don't understand the transman's comment about not being able to go to lawyers as they wouldn't approve of the op and so refuse to take the case. Is that an American thing - conscience clauses for lawyers? See unlikely to me. I get that money is an issue, of course.

This surgeon made a total mess of the surgery and not only refused to sort it out but claimed all was hunky dory when it demonstrably was not.

Sounds like a case to me.

ArabellaScott · 18/11/2022 18:20

That doctor should be in prison for the rest of her life.

I wondered what they meant by that too. Maybe a “well you asked for it, signed the forms, so don’t complain” attitude? I dread to think what the consent forms say for a doctor with no insurance.

I was just coming on to say the same.

I fully expect her to just up and go and for her staff and patients to discover the surgery shut, all her accounts shut down and her off sunning herself on a beach somewhere out of legal reach.

She knows what's she's doing and she knows that law suits will start to stack up, insurance or no insurance.

Reuters have today published a piece which, though they use the ideology's language throughout, does at least shine more of a critical light on Gallagher's practices and the way she targets the young through Tiktok.

beastlyslumber · 18/11/2022 18:55

She is evil. I don't use that word lightly.

I hope that she faces justice, very soon.

Whatwouldscullydo · 18/11/2022 18:56

Any so called " gender reassignment surgery" to me comes under the heading- just because we can doesn't mean we should.

Whatever the case witg regards to adults making decisions and capacity, the dr is the last defence against patients making poor decisions.

Shes a dr she should know better. And its time all these poor individuals she takes on that no other dr will , found out that she doesn't care except about the money

Thanks. Useful article. Reuters are generally quite good on impartiality.

Indeed. My least favourite fellow Hibernian - amid fierce competition. How on earth is she still allowed to practice?

BedTaker · 18/11/2022 19:40

What. The. Actual. Fuck?

I have said for a long time this woman needs to be in jail.

Scythe Gallagher indeed.

Boiledbeetle · 18/11/2022 20:33

From the Reuters article "Thousands of children who, like Kulovitz, were assigned female at birth have sought gender-affirming care in recent years. And for reasons not well-understood, they significantly outnumber those assigned male at birth who seek treatment."

weird that because it seems fairly understood on these boards why it's suddenly all girls. Off the top of my head it's because

social contagion,

peer pressure,

high numbers with autism,

female puberty is bloody literally and figuratively awful

Female puberty brings the mainly unwanted attention of men who should be old enough to know better but still perve on young girls.

Females are still treated as less than and understandably if young girls are given a magic for our of this they will siding take it.

Aghhhhhhhh!
