They are doing some presentations at my place of work soon.

Does anyone have experience of their presentations? Any idea what I can expect?

It's not mandatory but it makes me think there may be a forthcoming policy...

Yes, sat through one recently. They tried to tell us sex wasn’t binary, 1 in 100 people are intersex and that there were loads of trans people in other countries until colonialism came along. When asked which countries, the trainer couldn’t give an answer.
They also tried to gloss over the single sex exemptions to the Equality Act (not important apparently) and any time colleagues asked for advice on how to handle real
life situations of the tensyiln between womens right and trans desires they waffled in and never offered anything useful.

I suggest taking notes, asking polite questions and afterwards complain to whoever brought them in about the nonsense they spout.

Gendered intelligence who stropped off from work with sport england when sport england refused ti agree with them that sex didbt matter GI

Gendered Intelligence - who offer 1-1 "mentoring" for children in schools confused about their sex. They suggest that schools use the Pupil Premium or Disability allowance to pay for their £90 hour plus travel & accommodation charges.

Heather Brunskill-Evans has just posted a piece in The Critic on GI

Oh dear, this is pretty much what I was afraid of 🤷🏻‍♀️

Thank you all so much for the helpful replies. Had a quick skim of the article but will go back for a proper read.

The thing is, I work for a very large, prominent uni. So if they are thinking of getting GI to help write policy, it is going to affect an awful lot of people.

This uni got rid of Stonewall so I thought they were on the right track but apparently not.

Alarm bells are ringing all over the place.

GI are worse than Stonewall, mainly because they fly under the radar.

Whatwherewherewhat · 14/11/2022 15:25

I'm prepared to contact the person organising it in an 'are you aware' sort of approach, do you think that's a good idea? Or keep my head below the parapet?

Good neutral piece on actual DSD (intersex) numbers.

Just in case you can throw in a head tilt..... "I listened to BBC programme that suggested different figures for intersex, actually about 0.08%" type question......

Oh dear 🤦🏻‍♀️

That article describes them as sister charity to Mermaids 😑

I have name changed specifically for this by the way, in case my place of work is identifiable.

I wonder if Sex Matters has an information pack you can get sent to the person organising this visit by Gendered Intelligence. They have some very useful material. Maya Forstater is one of the main board at Sex Matters.

You could say were the Dr Brunskell-Evans article by someone with concerns on your team....

Then your just passing the concerns along.....

This is exactly what I thought would happen once large organisations started leaving Stonewall - other less prominent gender-peddlers would be invited in to fill the gap. Here is Sex Matters' university page. sex-matters.org/where-sex-matters/universities/
Do please inform Sex Matters as they receive lots of info like this and may well already be working with other GC staff at your institution.

I will contact them for advice before I make any approaches I think.

I'm not an academic but I'm extremely surprised at the one who is organising this--not her style, I wouldn't have said.

Sorry I missed your bit about one in 100 being intersex 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

How can anyone think that could be true!!

GI were the ones who trained Stonewall on their Trans policies in 2015, so make of that what you will.

Because they (gender ideology disciples) are trying to include conditions such as PCOS as DSD's to inflate the numbers. Needless to say, PCOS is not a DSD condition but as 1 in 5 women have it, it gives the numbers quite a boost.

FusilliFettler · 14/11/2022 16:12

Do the training, then question it with the relevant people. If you complain before the training they’ll dismiss you as biased.

I also found asking questions in the training Q&Q strategic. You know the old MN adage: think of the lurkers.

eg when they start waffling on about inclusive language I asked how GI would advice my employers would use this language in service especially when dealing with people with cognitive difficulties? They literally couldn’t answer and I hoped others on the call could see how poor they were.
The answer to my question should have been “we wouldn’t recommended using inclusive language with people with learning disabilities as it’s just going to confuse them”. The fact that GI didn’t say that showed me exactly the sort of people I thought they were: ideologues who don’t give a shit about genuinely vulnerable people.

Beginningless · 14/11/2022 16:17

I received training from them in 2017/18 when I was on my way to peaking but not quite yet. I remember the trainer, a trans man, being quite flustered and talking about hot flushes and menopause symptoms. Also what stands out is that apparently genitals are only one small part of sexing an individual, I think there were 4 other methods cited including chromosomes, secondary sex characteristics and I can’t remember what else but I think they were generally biologically determined, it was a bit mad. I had a chat afterwards and asked naively ‘are you aware of all the debate on mumsnet?’ to which I was told how terrible it was etc. Wish I’d had a bit more knowledge to debate it but I’d probably have been complained about and sacked at that time anyway.

Wait... what?? They're not only claiming to represent people who don't actually want to be represented but are now claiming those people have "gender issues" they don't actually have?

When their spiel is all about how "no one else can tell you who you are" and "bring your whole self to work" and "anyone can identify as anything" how the FUCK do they get to stick me in yet another box?

Because I'm called "cis" when it suits them to argue against me and now apparently my PCOS means they claim I have gender issues so they allege to represent my interests? Does that mean all of us with PCOS and PMDD etc can take over these two bit hate groups and steer them towards representing actual natal women? Because there are a LOT of us.

Is there a link for that info anywhere, in case I need to refer to it?
