The Beeb has reported on this story at last: www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-63616908

I read that earlier. How is anyone meant to have confidence that Wiltshire Police are the appropriate organisation to investigate Gwent Police?

Valeriekat · 16/11/2022 19:10

This has been going on in Gwent Police for 40 years at least .
One of my friends was doing a post doctoral work (in the adjacent City).
Her husband was a cop and everyone who had known them since undergrad absolutely HATED him for his corruption bullying and misogyny.
He must have hated her for being such an academic and she was lovely too.
I really hope she divorced him a long time ago.
The investigation might need to go back a few more years.

Sickening. His poor family.

I would suggest more stringent vetting is needed from the start of recruiting and continuing through the service of each officer.

Any convictions should preclude you from being a police officer and they should also use intelligence gathered on an individual too to vet them.

Jeez 🤮

TheBiologyStupid · 20/11/2022 11:50

Thanks Rex - troubling stuff, not least the cop who was able to deal with the complaint made against himself.

IncompleteSenten · 20/11/2022 11:58

I'm surprised the phone wasn't accidentally damaged after being handed over.
Maybe they were worried the family copied the information before giving them the phone.

katis · 20/11/2022 12:06

This doesn't surprise me 🥲. One of the most awful relationships I ever had was with a member of the police force he wasn't even a police officer he was office staff but this stuff runs deep. It's been years now and even after counselling and medication I am still suffering from ptsd. I can't actually read the article because it's very triggering but from the comments on here I get the jist. Its just normalised behaviour with them.

Icannoteven · 20/11/2022 12:06

Knowing a couple of officers from Gwent police, this doesn't surprise me in the slightest.

Icannoteven · 20/11/2022 12:08

Just wait till they get wind of all the drug use.

OmiOmy · 20/11/2022 14:25

I'm thinking that up and down the country, police WhatsApp groups are erasing their history.
