Norwegian man identifies as disabled woman

Just saw this - apparently he was given a sympathetic interview but it sparked backlash from disabled people (rightly so, wtf??!!!)
reduxx.info/norwegian-man-now-identifies-as-a-disabled-woman-uses-wheelchair-almost-full-time/
I have heard about people identifying as animals, children, another ethnicity to their own, now disabled… why has identifying as the opposite sex become socially acceptable but not these other identities? Surely it is equally as offensive/ bizarre?
If you believe that self ID is fine for men to ‘become women’ and vice versa doesn’t it follow you think you can self ID as anything? If everyone is simply whatever they say they are, why is the line drawn at ‘gender’?

I wonder if it draws too strong a divide to say that no one accepts any of these things.

We do, within certain limits, accept people's racial identities. And we also, to some extent, accept their identities as abled or disabled. Part of the reason forms and such often ask people if they "self-identify" as this or that is because we see those categories as something other than wholly objective. A person who in the UK might want to be identified as mixed-race would more likely identify as black in the US or Canada; a good number of deaf people don't consider themselves disabled, even if they need accommodations or specialized services which are provided on the basis of legal status as disabled.

Creating strong identarian feelings around these kinds of things perhaps has downsides. Because it's always possible to flip them, and argue from the other side.

Seems like he could do with therapy.

Of course Stonewall et al would say that this is conversion therapy. Instead we should instantly affirm his 'disability', possibly even pay for surgery to remove the use of his legs as some sort of 'disability affirmation' treatment.

... and of course anyone who questioned this would be a bigot.

My friend is an amputee and she is aware of people who want to have limbs amputated. My friend is on support groups for amputees and gets asked a lot of questions some people ask too many questions and they soon turn out to be those with an amputee fetish. It's disgusting.

Hell's teeth FemaleAndLearning 🤮

EpicChaos · 03/11/2022 01:25

Just when you think you've heard it all!

I saw something about the guy earlier and i was absolutely lost for words and it's not often that happens!

I was going to say ~ they walk among us ~ but in his case, it's more a matter of they ride amongst us!
I just hope he isn't given the same considerations as those who genuinely do have to use wheelchairs, by that I mean, I hope he doesn't get discounted travel, disabled seating and discounts at cinemas/gigs etc., that he might not really be entitled to but people might be too reluctant to challenge him.

Could we all club together and buy a decent sized private island where only the sane can go to live, I'll chip in the first £tenner! :-/

howdoesatoastermaketoast · 03/11/2022 01:50

I do not deny he has problems I just don't think pandering to his delusions / narcissistic nonsense helps anyone. Which he is I'll leave to Qualified professionals.

Pomtiddly · 03/11/2022 03:31

His poor wife, she has cancer and he decides that then is the time to use a wheelchair..I wonder whether she needed care from him at that point
It would be interesting to know if he has a 'carer'/demands physical 'care' from her as part of his fetish.

Some of us have to use a wheelchair all of the time and can't opt out..

PriOn1 · 03/11/2022 04:47

His poor wife, she has cancer and he decides that then is the time to use a wheelchair.

His timing struck me as well. Still, wife’s cancer makes a change from choosing to start displaying your fetish when your children are sitting their A-levels. These men are so narcissistic it’s painful.

ninetynineAu · 03/11/2022 04:51

I realise it wasn't ideal for capitalism or totalitarian but I do miss the days when we were allowed to point out lying for what it was ie. Lying.

Spookypig · 03/11/2022 05:25

I always wonder that.

I think about that woman … what’s her name? Who identified as a black woman and was adopted and raised by a black family and didn’t tell anyone she wasn’t actually black. Everyone was OUTRAGED about her. She stood by the fact that she identified as black but everyone was still horrified.

But a man identifies as a woman and that’s not to be questioned or commented on.

I am not pro- or anti- anything but just find it very curious!

Boiledbeetle · 03/11/2022 07:55

"Yet despite his wife’s outrage, Alme started dressing as a woman at home, a situation that “became a strain” for her, as she was struggling with a recent cancer diagnosis. Agnes has been open about her difficulties in accepting her husband’s fetishistic behaviors, and has said that she initially “tried to leave” him twice “in despair and grief.”

I know others have already highlighted this bit, but how dare he! Never mind he thinks he's a woman and thinks he's disabled how bloody dare he choose the time his wife is having probably the most profoundly worrying time of her life to decide to make everything all about him.

What an incredibly selfish twat.

Beowulfa · 03/11/2022 08:01

It's interesting he's gone for the wheelchair as an instant and visually obvious symbol of disability (I think it's something like less than 10% of people registered as disabled are wheelchair users in the UK). Not something unglamorous like learning difficulties. Or a hidden disability like T1 diabetes or chronic fatigue.

Identifiying as having Down's Syndrone next on the cards?

Fenneloup · 03/11/2022 08:10

It says in the article that he finds role playing a disabled woman sexually arousing. But why on earth does he feel the need to be securely aroused all the time?? Why can't he keep it to the bedroom or just in his head? Why impose it on everyone else?

bellinisurge · 03/11/2022 08:12

Fuck off you entitled twat. I have MS. I am a women. Stop using people like me for you wank bank.

zanahoria · 03/11/2022 08:12

Brave and stunning

Gingernaut · 03/11/2022 08:18

Saw this comment on Twitter

Imagine sharing a space with someone you believe to be a disabled woman in a wheelchair, only to find it's an able bodied man.

He's an attention seeking threat

Wouldn’t that be refreshing and liberating.
At best this male is ill, he could just be selfish, controlling and bloody horrible

nauticant · 03/11/2022 08:40

There's a more well known person who's been at this for a long time:

ovarit.com/o/GenderCritical/158238/the-notorious-tim-clive-chloe-jennings-white-who-is-also-trans-disabled-and-pret

nilsmousehammer · 03/11/2022 08:42

Keep watching. Transaged will sooner or later come as a serious attempt, as soon as some fool opened the door to it being possible to claim a legal fiction of being something you are objectively in reality not, this was always just a matter of time. We'll hear the cries of bigot and it being discriminatory to deny a 50 year old bloke in a nappy access to his local nursery, and to have access to all the spaces and resources for children with No Exceptions.

And at that point I shall be getting out a lot of popcorn and saying to politicians 'We told you so bloody years ago'.

nilsmousehammer · 03/11/2022 08:46

Also link this to the huge cuts currently being made by social care, the fact that most counties are breaking under the pressure of trying to fund the care bills for the elderly and disabled, carers and conversions and nursing home places.

Now as a tax payer, think about how you feel about an able bodied person identifying into having a carer, converted car, washroom installed, parking spaces and competing with actually disabled people for that funding, and the services' time.

The ground's been prepared, in part because many females have been so co operative about the invasion of their spaces, funding, resources. I will be fascinated to see how many are still saying 'oh be kind' as the demands ratchet up.

getsomehelp · 03/11/2022 08:47

Can I identify as a pensioner, quit my job & claim my pension ?

knittingaddict · 03/11/2022 08:57

Grifters, the lot of them.

You almost never dig down into stories like this and think "what a lovely human being". They always come across as self absorbed and narcissistic.

And once again a real woman suffers at the heart of it. It's enough to make you despair.

Whatthechicken · 03/11/2022 09:04

Now as a tax payer, think about how you feel about an able bodied person identifying into having a carer, converted car, washroom installed, parking spaces and competing with actually disabled people for that funding, and the services' time.

I wonder what Starmer’s response would be if someone suggested the above? It would be interesting to see him wriggle about why this scenario isn’t ok and yet self IDing as the opposite sex is perfectly fine.

WeAreOnTheRoadToNowhere · 03/11/2022 09:11

Years ago there was a surgeon in Newcastle who amputated healthy limbs. People came to him from all over the world. C4 ran a documentary, there was a public outcry, and he stopped doing the surgeries
I think, like identifying as the opposite sex, if a therapist delves into the background or works with the person there is always a reason. I read about one young man who wanted his leg amputating. It turned out his parents were very busy running a successful business making prosthetic limbs🤔
