Just saw this - apparently he was given a sympathetic interview but it sparked backlash from disabled people (rightly so, wtf??!!!)

I have heard about people identifying as animals, children, another ethnicity to their own, now disabled… why has identifying as the opposite sex become socially acceptable but not these other identities? Surely it is equally as offensive/ bizarre?
If you believe that self ID is fine for men to ‘become women’ and vice versa doesn’t it follow you think you can self ID as anything? If everyone is simply whatever they say they are, why is the line drawn at ‘gender’?

Behind closed doors what consenting adults do is their business. This stuffing fetish in the faces of non consenting others while demanding 'acceptance' of smashing their boundaries is nothing to celebrate, it's just thrill seeking behaviour that many ethical BDSM clubs would ban members for.

I remember reading about Chloe Jennings-White before and I noted there were pictures of Chloe hiking in a wheelchair. I suspect there are various reasons feeding into why someone would want to identify as disabled (or female) but one has struck me. Probably won't put this very well, but it's something to do with wanting to be noticed for doing something they can actually do easily. Pretending to be disadvantaged so they can "overcome" the supposed disadvantage. I suppose it's part of identifying into a marginalised group - they don't want to actually BE marginalised, but to have the glory of achieving things which can only be gained by pretending to be disadvantaged. So Chloe doesn't want to play a sort of weak or limited role or miss out on things, but instead play the role of "inspirational disabled woman" out hiking and so on.
(Whereas most disabled women actually want to get on with living their lives without being pitied or expected to be inspirational...)
It seems to be a perverse thing that has sprung out of identity politics. As we recognise people's achievements despite barriers, the dominant white, able-bodied males try to find a way back into the limelight.

This 'transablism' grossness has been going on for a while now. I remember in the early days of the radical feminist blogosphere, there were many individuals agitating for transablism alongside transgenderism. And trans-age as well. It's all part of the same cluster: personality disorder, fetishes, misogyny.

It's interesting because that sounds a bit like a description of Munchausen Syndrome, which I didn't think was fetish driven, but I just looked it up and apparently there are "two types" when it comes to Munchausen ( www.nhs.uk/mental-health/conditions/munchausen-syndrome/overview/ )

I suppose the big difference between the trans-disabled thing and Munchausen is that the trans-abled people are honest that their condition is fake. I think it probably takes some social privilege to obtain real sympathy for an openly fake condition.

Can't we start the decent treatment of actual disabled folk before the imaginary?

It's completely idiotic, but if one protected characteristic is up for grabs I think they should all be. Personally I would like to identify as 67 and claim my pension.

Don't be daft. Trans disabled are much more oppressed and discriminated against than cis disabled people. They cannot even claim disability benefits because people do not accept their right to exist. They are also refused disability affirming medical treatments. No other minority are refused the medical care they need to allow them to live as their true selves. It's tragic.
