Manchester Laces Football Club Match Forfeit

Following on from the previous thread about Manchester Laces lobbying the FA to update their policies here, some more news yesterday:

Sky Sports News - Manchester Laces

Grassroots football club Manchester Laces say FA classified their league game as forfeited because a non-binary person played on their team; FA asks the player to undergo hormone testing before a decision is made on their eligibility for women's football

There's no reason someone with a GRC shouldn't declare themselves non binary is there? This is all complete idiocy.

We have seen instances where there are people with GRCs who then retranslation to a non-binary identity.

So Helen Hardy could be well deliberately obscuring the sex of this player. It sounds suspiciously like Helen Hardy as an activist would be a person who would do exactly that.

And who would use the phrase 'they're biological females' to be that ridiculous parsing of biological = organic and female = whatever the person identifies.

I suspect that this case may start the FA to check any loopholes in their policy and will shine the light for many as to the effect of allowing any male into the female sports category and the emptiness of the lie that is the 'case by case' insistence that has been pushed by so many activists.

Ah, they've finally twigged that "individual assessment" means sometimes the answer will be no. Not a way to get want you want via the back door because nobody would be mean enough to say no to a individual standing o

"We have seen instances where there are people with GRCs who then retranslation to a non-binary identity."

If Eddie Izzard can switch between girl mode and boy mode by taking off his shoes (his words), then the above naturally follows.

Aren't people with a GRC required to live as their acquired gender for the rest of their lives?

puffyisgood · 01/11/2022 10:45

I think it was very, very strongly implied by the evasive words chosen by whatsername that the player in question was a man.

Rainbowshit · 01/11/2022 11:00

Whatever the truth of it, Helen is not fostering good will from people by being deliberately evasive and economical with the truth.

My impression from the (wilfully obscure) article is that it's a female player whom the FA suspect is on testosterone.

Ah, ok - that might make sense.

CompleteGinasaur · 01/11/2022 11:19

I'm failing to see why there's a problem here - any athlete taking part in any organised sport who is suspected of using performance enhancing drugs is required to submit to testing by that organisation, surely? Could Helen Hardy explain why this player should be an exception to that rule?

Pr0fessionalLurker · 01/11/2022 11:22

I often wonder how many people who advocate for "inclusive sport" ever consider why sport is segregated by sex in the first place.

There's something about the insistence that all their id is female that makes me think this is a male. What ever the reason whether they are male or female on testosterone they know its going to be obvious in the tests the fa want doing and they will automatically be excluded

thirdfiddle · 01/11/2022 11:45

It would be funny if it wasn't so serious for girls. This movement has fucked around with the meaning of words so much that nobody now knows what they mean at all. Female birth certificate - no longer demonstrates they are female. They won't allow people to believe the evidence of their own eyes in case of passing. Even if they say biological female, if they're gender believers we have no way of knowing if they mean male or female.

And then they wonder why we are reduced to medical testing to determine who is or isn't eligible for a category that is separated because of biological sex differences.

ChateauMargaux · 01/11/2022 11:57

Based on this - a person having a gender recognition certificate could have all documents showing the 'sex marker' as different to the one they were biologically programmed with.

and even without a GRC, they could change their passport and driving licence..
www.transactual.org.uk/the-gender-recognition-act

So none of those official documents can be relied upon to determine the biological sex of an individual.

I think Helen Hardy et al have been trying to cheat the system and been found out.

Helleofabore · 01/11/2022 12:25

yes. Strangely enough, I think it will have the opposite effect that they expected.

Hoardasurass · 01/11/2022 14:13

Please someone correct me if I've got this wrong.
Manchester Laces have a non binary player who for whatever reason (whether suspected doping or another unknown reason) was told that to be eligible to play had to submit to a blood test.
Instead of taking the blood test the player refused and the team chose to play an ineligible player anyway.
Because Manchester Laces knowingly played this ineligible player they had there results from that match voided.
Manchester Laces are now complaining that the FA are following the rules with this game but not the previous 4 (that they don't say whether the player in question played in or not).
Manchester Laces claim that this is unfair discrimination against there allegedly female player 🙄
Could this not backfire on Manchester Laces by forcing the FA to look at their other 4 games and void any results from games that this player played in?

Hoardasurass · 01/11/2022 14:15

Sorry that should say allegedly female non-binary player

ReunitedThorns · 01/11/2022 14:46

Many people don't identify as coming from a particular area, but people have to pick somewhere to be able to play football. The FA and FIFA should look at creating new teams and international teams that aren't based anywhere and don't represent anywhere for those people who decide to self-identify as not coming from anywhere, this will also assist the people born at sea or in space.

Soontobe60 · 01/11/2022 16:05

Live4weekend · 01/11/2022 09:23

Do they need to change the male category to open ?

A male should never play in the womans game no matter how he identifies.

A transman can compete in womans game if not taking hormones.

No, they just need to stick to male and female categories, and only those born of that sex can play in them. There are many males who still want to play on male only teams.

JustWaking · 01/11/2022 19:41

There are many males who still want to play on male only teams.

That's a very good point. For any 'game' type sport (rather than eg swimming or athletics) with mixed teams, men do need to hold back a bit to keep female players safe. Even non-contact sports sometimes accidentally result in contact. It's fair enough for men to want to play against other men so that they can play 'full on' without fear of harming a significantly more injury-prone player.
