Manchester Laces Football Club lobbying the FA to abolish hormone testing

The club is calling for the FA to remove its “outdated policies” on transgender amateur players as well as on mixed-gender football, and claim its stance is “outdated, sexist and transphobic”.

Idiots they have no idea what they’re doing. It’s great to be a young woman and feel invincible surrounded by your trans mates.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 09/07/2021 14:59

Why don't these 'inclusive' clubs either
A) join the mens league, since hormones have no effect
B) start a mixed league

TedImgoingmad · 09/07/2021 15:04

The founder of the club was on GB news earlier this afternoon. Made me sad to see a woman throwing other women under the bus.

Turkeys, Christmas.

SometimesIFeedTheSparrows · 09/07/2021 15:10

It's like the research about female skulls and concussions just doesn't exist.

PennineSpring · 09/07/2021 15:13

I’m sick of young women throwing away our hard won rights in the name of “inclusivity”.

Do any of them wonder why their mums didn’t play football, or why their grannies didn’t?
I remind my football-playing teen all the time that the only reason she gets to play girls football both in and out of school is because women like me fought for the formation of those teams, because none existed before then.
Boils my piss it does. Angry

twitter.com/GBNEWS/status/1413499666671439886 if anyone wants to watch.

The interviewee does make a fair(ish) point about hockey which has been mixed sex in some circumstances for years, but football is a greater contact sport and amateurs are even less likely than pro to be efficient at tackling - lower league men's football tends to be very robust I believe. And the interviewee also makes a good point about consenting adults - but they are one team. What about the league: is every player in that league consenting? What happens if they change league? Who is being consulted and how? None of that is discussed. If it is a trans inclusive league that's one thing, so long as there is a separate women's league of a similar level and women are not being squeezed out. But if not, there really is no detail on how it is managed.

I am grateful to GB News for covering this but they needed to have an interviewer who was more informed, or another guest with an opposing view.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 09/07/2021 15:17

Ironic that it was 1921 when the FA banned the womens league originally...

ArtemesiaK · 09/07/2021 15:31

If my daughter were playing against someone like Hannah Mouncey I would be seriously concerned. Can't they see that transwomen aren't necessarily delicate little girly boys (as are usually depicted in the media)...
www.perthnow.com.au/sport/afl/afl-lawsuit-looms-as-transgender-footballer-hannah-mouncey-calls-out-new-aflw-policy-ng-b881771519z
I suppose they'll revise their views when a woman gets injured.....

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 09/07/2021 15:43

I semi-agree with them. Hormone testing is daft, and presumably very expensive. The problem could easily be solved by not having men play on women's teams...

TedImgoingmad · 09/07/2021 15:55

@ChristinaXYZ yes it was a pretty lame bit of interviewing. Interviewer being far too careful, and not sure what the point was of bringing up rugby - I'd have answered the same as her on that one. There's plenty of contact in football to make it dangerous.

Really a very selfish person, thinking only of herself and her friends, and not the wider implications for girls' football as a whole.

They retweeted this on their twitter feed, so I think it lets us know where they firmly stand. I hope the league has the courage to not allow them to play, to not bow down to ideoloogical crusades.

JoodyBlue · 09/07/2021 16:18

It makes so angry when they refer to "the modern world" as if all of us have moved on now "nothing to see here". This is not about trans - it is about fairness for women and girls. Part of me wants to look away, so fed up to the teeth of this attitude. But then what? Women and girls competing with testosterone bodies. I was a sporty child with a brother. I remember the day my brother was faster than me, then stronger, then could wipe the floor with me. I was fit, I trained, I worked hard. He didn't, he didn't have to. So sick of this shit.

FlyPassed · 09/07/2021 16:26

I just saw this on gb news and it really boiled my piss.

  • I'm ok with it
  • Intersex red herring (tbf she almost acknowledged it as such)
  • Men and women are the same

By all means have mixed teams for those who want them, but why should women and girls not be allowed to play with other women and girls if they want?

The stats about girls dropping out of sport are already stark and i don't suppose having to play with boys will encourage them to continue.

Followed a link on that Twitter and read

'Gender is also not a race-neutral concept in a white supremacist culture. Black women, regardless of genetics, are often stereotyped as less feminine or womanly than white women'

In every country in the world? Really? Feels like a very white centric view and possibly an argument from USA.

And same vibe...

'The entire culture & society operates around racist ideas of what constitutes Black physicality, both positively & negatively. This is why there’s a fascination with dressing up as Black ppl, imagining what it is to occupy Black ppl’s bodies, but from the safety of whiteness'

Globally????

This total inability to consider the whole world feels a bit... Well. Somethingist. A lot somethingist.

NiceGerbil · 11/07/2021 01:50

Oops! Missed this

'Gender is also not a race-neutral concept in a white supremacist culture'

Take some of it back.

But not all of it.

Who sets beauty / femininity standards for women? Men is who.

White supremacist +++ patriarchy.

NiceGerbil · 11/07/2021 01:52

On testosterone
If you Google
There's loads of research etc saying that the male testosterone normal range is too narrow and the low level is too high.

Where is the fuss about that?

NiceGerbil · 11/07/2021 03:36

Hold on that would mean women could dope with testosterone?

AnyOldPrion · 11/07/2021 06:40

Twitter is insane on the topic of intersex runners. There is absolute denial of the existence of DSDs in both the rules and the decisions made. I realise the rules are irrational, but the suggestion that this is all about racism and not sex receives huge support and rational voices explaining about DSDs are wholly ignored. Twitter is frightening.

With regard to the article in the original post… anyone else suspicious about the fact that this is a new club that’s been recently set up? I find myself wondering whether transactivists tried to infiltrate existing clubs, but found it easier in the end to set up their own in order to make this “stand”.

Theeyeballsinthesky · 11/07/2021 09:00

The hockey mixed sex thing is such bollocks

Thete is men’s hockey, women’s hockey & mixed hockey. If you sign up to play mixed hockey you know exactly what you’re signing up for and the rules are clear en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mixed_hockey

Mixed hockey trans also use the changing rooms corresponding to their sex, it’s not one big communal changing room

Mixed hockey is completely different from signing up to play women’s hockey and arriving to find the opposition fielding 5 TW on their side

Theeyeballsinthesky · 11/07/2021 09:03

If this person wants to set up mixed football with specific rules so everyone knows what they’ve signed up for, they can crack on and do that

Bryonyshcmyony · 11/07/2021 09:04

Training together, yes. Competing, No

FloralBunting · 11/07/2021 09:09

Fucking rich for the genderists to suggest that it's racist to have female only because of the way black women have been stereotyped as 'masculine' when those dicks use 'black women' as a category of women 'just like trans women' and say shit like 'if you accept black women are women you should accept TW too'. Jesus.

ErrolTheDragon · 11/07/2021 09:15

It's also bizarre. The whole point is that sports need to be segregated by sex - 'gender' is completely and utterly irrelevant.

GonadTheGaul · 11/07/2021 13:44

I've got no problem with the idea of having fair ways to have mixed sex sports as an option as well as sex-segregated ones. The mixed Team Time Trial Relay seen at the cycling World Championships in Yorkshire in 2019 was fun to watch and allowed mixed sex cycling teams to race in a way that was fair.

The problem is trying to pretend that sports are or should be segregated by gender identity, and that male and female bodies are the same when it comes to sports performance, which they clearly aren't. As previous posters have said, we need to throw away this idea that the female category is for anyone female and anyone male with a testosterone level below a certain point. I think we should have female only and open categories, with mixed sex sports as well where a set of rules can be brought in that makes them safe and fair for females as well as males. If it encourages more people to take up sport and exercise, then great. It's the denial of reality by many of the people campaigning for these trans inclusive initiatives that I disagree with.
